It's a new Christian game coming out in 2006. Check out the website here and then discuss!

This game is being developed with Conitec A6, an engine I use, and the A6 community (they're secular) is raving about it. You know something good is going down when non-Christians are saying that a Christian game is the best one developed with their engine.

I think we Christians finally have an awesome game on our hands. I'm buying if for no other reason than to support these people.

Looks awsome. But correct me if I'm wrong, is it only for computer? That may be a problem for me because Mine is not really a "gaming computer".

^ Same here.

IS this an Action RPG? If it`s for PS2, I`ll buy it in seconds.

It's for computer only. >.>

It's an Action RPG, I believe, along the lines of Morrowind, possibly? No turn-based combat, that's for sure. Watch the trailer to get a better feel for it. It's mostly exploration, story, and NPC interaction. Enough fighting for everyone, though, and some NPC Artificial Intelligence that's simply unreal.

*GASP!* not a gaming computer?! Why else would you use computers ?_?

and it says its classified as an action adventure/rpg. So not only is it an ACTION RPG... its an ACTION ADVENTURE RPG =D

As I have stated elsewhere, I find this game somewhat interesting. I'm moderately certain my computer will be unable to play it, but I need to upgrade to comply with network standards, so it is just possible I will have to check this out more seriously.

That looks pretty interesting. I think I'll probably end up buying it. The environments look pretty cool, but the action looks pretty iffy.

Yeah, I wasn't impressed by the combat. But the rest looked excellent.

Even though I think the setting of the game is rather fascinating, I can’t say I am sold. It looks too much like a mod of Morrowind. Quite frankly, I have had more than my fill of Morrowind’s and MMORPG’s 3rd-person stagnate “characters-who-don’t-understand-the-words-parryâ€

It has its flaws, yes, but you must admit that this is *infinitely* superior to any other Christian game made to date.

Wow. I was anticipating a big debate over such a superlative statement. Can't believe someone agreed with me.

I can agree, but I have a hard time shelling out money if it looks like a chore to play. I think they should rework the battle system. If they reconsidered and decided on a turn-based system, it could be what Lord of the Rings: The Third Age was suppose to be.

From seeing the website and quality of the upcoming game, I was actually most impressed. It seems not to be something that's just being slapped together for the heck of it, but it really seems like they are willing to put the neccessary time and work into the quality of the game. Only at it's release will we be able to tell for sure, but it could end up being quite a refreshing breakthrough for Christian gaming.

What was it supposed to be? I don`t know about you, but where I`m from, it`s intensly popular. Crushed any Final Fantasy.

Epic. Instead, you were retracing the fellowship's footsteps, while listening to Gandalf explain everything and not really experiencing the events first hand.

While the battles were fun and all, there wasn’t really much to do outside battle. No shops, limited areas to explore, etc.

If this game (Rebel Planet) combined the battle system of something like FFX and the vast exploration of Morrowind, they would have something. I think, at least.

I'm glad to see that other people are impressed, too. I was thinking that maybe it was just the result of wishful thinking on my part. I want to see a great Christian game that will turn heads in the gaming community so badly...

I think we all should start praying about this, actually. The game isn't finished yet, so there's a bunch of stuff to pray about right there.

Give it time, Christian gaming will continually get better and better. I believe it is already beginning. Once this current generation of Christian gamers break into the industry, we are going to revolutionize Christian gaming.

Having now seen the trailer, I can give further comments. The graphics were passable, and I was vaguely impressed by the physics engine (provided that they didn't merely show the objects that are most easily interacted with). Combat... not so much. I'd have to play it to get a proper sense of how it worked, but it didn't look all that great. Of course, the appearance of combat doesn't matter if it is still fun, but we'll have to see.

I agree. While I enjoyed playing the game once, I was severely disappointed and wouldn't play it again. My hope was that you could actually travel to any place on Middle Earth, not a specific set of "levels" with numerous boundaries (in Helm's Deep, most of the time you can't even backtrack). That left the experience feeling very flat (plus, the question of why some random punks are attacking Sauron, leaving Aragorn and Gandalf to putter around]anyone[/i] ever gotten Eaoden's last Passive Ability? There isn't any good way of leveling by the end of the game.

Is there a chance that they might make a decision to realease it on PS2?

Lord of the Rings: The Third Age wasn`t supposed to be anything huge. I see it as a way to get Lotr fans into Final Fantasy and other RPGs. They sorta blended the game based on the movie (which was fantastic) with the Final fantasy elements and it came out pretty good.

No chance in the world. The A6 engine is Windows only, and does not function on anything but that. (You're outta luck, Mac users.) There's no easy way to do it...they'd have to reconstruct it in another engine, I imagine.

But surely it would have performance settings that would allow it to be used on a variety of computers... Right?

I'll have to ask my brother. If anyone's gotten it, it'd be him. He loved that game (at least the fighting and such).

Back to Rebel Planet: I would assume that they aren't making it for just one set-up, I mean every PC game has to do that (I think). I'm actually wondering what it's max and minimum settings are gonna be.

Wait a MIN. THIS is made with A6?!

ROFL ROFL, A6 is one of the most automated Game Engines out there  you don't even need to know programing to get a game up and running on that thing.

WOW this is sad. I wish i would of known this earlier. If they're using A6 the game's going to be crap. A6 costs under 1,000 and you can get a game out in less than a year. I don't see how this game's ever going to make it, A6 is the equivalent of a book report program that lets you type in 4 total words and constructs a 900 page report. Expect a lot of "NOT ORIGINAL" features.

A6 is what "14 year olds with Money" Game Designers use to make games, so they can simply learn the "knack" and flow of game design wihtout using programers.

This is sad.

Now now young apprentice, no need to get so feisty!

It is true though, going into this field myself, I see you need to have something totally original or a vast improvement over an existing game to make anything halfway good. If this game is made on A6 i have little hope for it but if they acctually tried making something original then it could possibly be worth something...

I'm not exactly sure what to say, in that (not to be rude or mean) your statements are entirely off-base.

You are correct in saying that it can be totally automated and unoriginal. You can piece together a game using no programming whatsoever in a very short time. Absolutely correct.

The thing is, that--in the right hands--A6 is just as flexible as any other game engine out there. I've programmed the A5 engine, and since the A6 has little more than improved graphics and extra features, I should think I know what I'm talking about.

You can program pretty much anything you want on this engine, so unless I'm missing the thrust of your comment...you're wrong. ;)
