;) I see the two kids as being, uh, together since plaing OoT. But then again, the gamer girl in me might be showing.

But there's that line in ALttP, where his Uncle(?) was all like, "[Link], Zelda is your..." and croaked.

Well?

Well, from the OoT point of view I WOULD say they are lovers. BUT, I think that Malon would be more suitable for Link. I mean, how many Zelda fans really want Link to become King? To me Link would be too obligated (possibly more than he already is) and have too many responsibilities if he settled down with Zelda. Malon may not know how to send baddies to another dimension but she might know how to cook up a nice dinner for him to come home to from his busy day

I'll be completely honest: I DO! KING LINK! That would be so awesome!

Seriously, though, since there are different Links and different Zeldas in just about every game, it's hard for me to say that there's a connection between each Link and each Zelda. However, I would agree that the "first" Link and "first" Zelda from OOT where in love, and I suspect a great deal of the others were too. And if they're in love, I say why not let them marry? Sure, he'd become King, but it's not like each Link had more than one or two adventures anyway, so it wouldn't be that bothersome. Plus, Kings can still fight in wars, so he could still fulfill his desire for adventure every now and then.

And I do honestly think that King Link would be cool.

I think they're simply together due to destiny. It's unavoidable. They are neither friends nor lovers, they were brought together to save Hyrule. Where Hyrule not needing saved they would prolly have never met.

But they have met, so things are more complex.

I think they're being more than friends is hinted at, but will never be outright declared as it leaves a shroud of mystery over it all, allowing anything to happen.

I do think Link and Saria are more suitable tho.

it seems like zelda and link were written for eachother. saria and link seem to be more close, childhood friends. i'd give saria and link the more close friend relationship

Yes, they are SO lovers, or should be. I mean, Link nearly dies (or does repeatedly if you play like me ^_^ Ooooo, look at the shiny bubbling red liquid...) almost every adventure for her. He's the hero, she's the heroine, skynes is right, they're destined.

Zelda rules!

I don't think anyone is suitable for Link. I mean how would he be able to leave his wife and children for adventures? xP And then there would be no more awesome games ;_; ^_^ *voted for just friends if you havn't guessed yet xD*

I think they are siblings. Just like long lost ya know? But if not that then they are lovers. JUST friends...nah...its either of the two extremes I think.

Let's go over the games by Link, shall we?

Zelda I/Zelda II: Zelda is a non-entity, so there is nothing to be said on the subject.

A Link to the Past: I wouldn't interprete the Uncle's line as meaning much. Likewise, there is little to go off of in this game.

Link's Awakening: It is uncertain what previous Link this relates to...

Ocarina of Time/Majora's Mask: The main focus, it appears. I wouldn't say so... because they're both around twelve. Not counting the future, which is more or less irrelevent. Again, the series is designed to put you in the roles, not to create very developed characters. I think to say anything of the sort is to go beyond the games.

Wind Waker: I am not familiar enough to make a statement.

Both Oracle Games: Again, Zelda is basically a non-entity.

So ultimately, I think we're all just making things up. Personally, I really wouldn't mind seeing them together, but I also don't really care.

I think they are just friends but I just finished playing OOT and it seems like they're lovers however in Wind Waker, they seem to be just friends.

Zelda 1: Zelda is being held by Ganon... Damsel in distress, rescue the princess cliché that wasn't really cliché yet (After all, that genre of game started with Donkey Kong, so Zelda (the 4th in line) isn't that bad)

Zelda 2: Zelda is held in that thing right from the beginning... Unless you mean you don't see her through the course of the game, which I guess is true... Of course, Princess Toadstool only shows up once in Super Mario Brothers, but you can't say there's nothing between Mario and her royal pinkness.

I guess it's true that Miyamoto tries to make the player the characters, so they don't have very strong personalities... It really is up to the player to draw his or her own conclusions...

By "non-entity" I meant that she was less of a character than an objective. Yes, she appears, but only as a mostly irrelevant sprite. You spend the majority of both games wandering around a large map and killing things, outside or in dungeons. Zelda's roles have no personality, nor do we ever see any interaction between her and Link.

ROFL! That sounds like me! I laughed so hard when I read that.

I wholly agree with samurai on this. More than friends but not quite lovers. So I said friends.

I don't think Link would leave a wife and kids for adventures. That's why he'd need a wife that would like adventures as much as he does! That's why I believe that Tetra (Wind Waker pirate turned Zelda turned pirate again.) is right for him. I mean, they obviously like each other in Wind Waker. But again, we can only imagine whether they are related or romantically involved or what. Hopefully not BOTH. :wow!:

Is that really Link in Windwaker? If so, yuch! I hate the way he looks...and acts, for that matter!

Don't shoot me but WindWaker was actually my favorite Zelda game.

Anyway, moving to the question...I'd like to see them pair together as lovers. (mainly because Malon annoyed me and Saria....who could be married to someone who couldn't grow up?) Seriously though, they make a good pair together--courage to do what's right and wisdom to know when to act. I think most couples would trade their souls for that. I haven't played the older games (i.e. prior to OOT) so I can't go by what the older versions have said. But yes, this die-hard romantic would like to see a King Link.

Note that Ashley omits Ruto. In all seriousness, I thought basically everyone disliked her until talking to some guys at school about four years ago. Does anyone here even consider her in all this? I don't. She obviously scares Link.

But Ashley... if CLAMP got ahold of the Legend of Zelda (solely an academic consideration) you can be completely certain they'd pair Link and Saria.

Eep. Link and Saria? *Falls over, unconscious, then stands back up* Whew. After that episode of terror, I'd like everyone to know that Zelda DID have a manga. There are translated scans on the web somewhere. The translation quality isn't great, but the translator does have most of the graphic novels on his/her site. Just Google "Zelda Manga." The manga is pretty entertaining, but it can get a little tiresome. A lot of the dungeons were condensed pretty tightly, but it's kind of neccesary to keep the story going. Overall, it's a 4 out of 5. Mostly because of the translation. The work is a little bit choppy, and they're inconsistent in the word bubble text order. I've read volumes one and two, and it hasn't let me down so far. It's REALLY nice to actually see know what Link says. It gets kind of annoying trying to imagine what "Silent Hero" Link is saying in the games. Hopefully Link will eventually speak up in a game, but I won't get my hopes up. Poor Link will probably be silent forever. T_T

I disliked the manga pretty strongly. The artist is good, and I like how he does make some things pretty cool (and at times deepens the plot in good ways), but the ultra-condensed storyline annoyed me far too much. Even were all but the boss battles to be removed (as it was) I still believe that battles should not follow the endless formula:
Link runs away
Link discovers the boss' weakness
Link kills the boss (generally in one attack)

On the other hand, the battle between Link and Dark Link (out of place, but ah well) was pretty cool. Why couldn't more of the story be like that?

That may appear negative; allow me to temper it by saying that I did think the presence of a Legend of Zelda manga was extremely cool. I have read all translated volumes, including some at locations other than Zelda no Densetsu.

Hmm. Okay. I just wish that there was a different Zelda manga that wasn't so scrunched together. (Scrunched. Yes. I use extremly scientific terms.) UC, were the manga for the Oracle games any less condensed than the Ocarina of Time ones? If so, I'd at least like to try them. I bought Oracle of Seasons and it's one of my favorite games. I was wondering if its accompanying manga was any good.

Definitely read Majora's Mask. Fierce Diety Link is quite awesome, and has a very cool line.

The Oracles manga are acceptably okay. I am not as familiar with those games as I am with Ocarina of Time, so they did not seem as abrupt to me. If you liked the games you may want to read them.

Thank you very much for the suggestions. I have seen screenshots of Link wearing the fierce diety's mask, adn he looks really cool. I'll have to check out the manga right away. Also, what is your opinion on The Wind Waker. Personally, I really liked the style of graphics, and foudnt he game extremely entertaining, though just a little bit short. However, I played few of the game's numerous side quests, so I've still got plenty of work to do. Also, because I won the game, I am able to play as Link in his casual clothes in my new file. It's enetertaining, not seeing the cap and green tunic, and instead watching Link battle evil in a blue shirt and orange pants.

I'm not sure, since every Zelda story is different? In Link to the Past there wasn't really anything, you just had to save Zelda so that everything becomes good again. In Ocarina of Time the seemed like nice friends, maybe they would become something else. In Windwaker it was similar to Ocarina.

I don't really think about it that much? ^-^ Because each "Legend of Zelda" is different.

Are you guys talking about the Ocarina comic? I'm reading some of it ^v^ the one by Akira Himekawa. Their relationship is a bit romantic in it, I guess.
I attached some picture of it. ^v^

My opinion of Wind Waker? I have not played it enough to feel comfortable making too extensive of a statement. However, I will say that I liked the style of game play (classic Zelda) and disliked the graphics. I much prefered the more mature style used in Ocarina of Time.

I agree, although I like the graphics and the gameplay a little more than you did. I also don't like this style of Zelda in that
Your character has to become the legendary hero and Tetra has to become Zelda. That still seems a bit weird to me. It sounds like trying to force a prophecy to come true.
Here's to Zelda 2005, though! As soon as I saw it, I forgave them for having first given us a game with cartoonish graphics.

How come no one like it...? It was so cute! And fun!

But of course, I really like cute stuff, which most people here, don't. ^-^;;;;

I will say though, that I like the art style of Ocarina of Time the best and that I like it when Link is grown-up. Slingshot=against RoyalWing=first boss scariest to beat for me

Oh I do like it, but not as much as I liked more "serious-looking" Zelda games (i.e. OOT, LOTP, etc.). It's my second least favorite Zelda game right now, with my least favorite being Majora's Mask because it has little to nothing to do with the Zelda world and doesn't even deliver what I thought would logically follow from its premise. Still, that's not saying much, as I liked playing MM a lot.
