Quick question for those very knowledgeable about this sort of thing.
In Daniel 9:24-27, we all know Daniel is speaking about Jesus, correct? Well...just wanting to make sure, but...the sabbaths Daniel is speaking of, don't most Christians believe he's referencing "sabbathical years" instead? I don't think that's actually what they're called, but I do believe there was a sabbath event of seven years in the Old Testament. Where they didn't plant anything on the seventh year and junk? ^^;
Either way, I've been told that, back in Daniel's day, it was common place for people to use the word "days" as slang for years (depending on what city they were in). Anybody else know more about this? I just think it'd be a bit more interesting to hear about. Not to mention, isn't it true nobody actually KNOWS when the persian emperor gave the decree to rebuild Jerusalem? I read that the date is uncertain, so technically it sounds like you could believe Daniel's words as literal sabbaths, sabbathical years, or whatever. ^^;
For once I'm not asking a real worry question, so I hope it's ok. Especially since I love learning how accurate the prophecies about Jesus were, it's fun to see how much God revealed to us without humanity really paying attention. Unfortunately I just don't like to look this stuff up on google. Too many weird sites that try and tell me I'm evil for liking this or that or try to get me to stop believeing. I'd rather just ask you guys since I know you follow the Bible accurately and have a level head. ._.
