Smitty's Drawings and Whatnot

Postby Smittyblack » Wed Jun 11, 2014 7:25 am

Here's where I'll post my art. Over time, I'll just keep adding new drawings and art here.

I haven't drawn anything new in a while, so these two are pretty old, but...

Edit: Looks like this one's too big. Right click it and click 'Open image" or something.
Or just click here.

And I'm going to try getting back into drawing, and post some new stuff soon.

Thanks! :D

I haven't drawn anything new in a while, though. I did Iron Man and The Joker, but they weren't very good. Hopefully I'll stop procrastinating and start drawing regularly again.

"Art" update (this one's more of just a concept doodle, not very good)

A couple months ago (spring break-- the end of March, I think), I drew a character from a story I'd been writing, which I turned into this RP: viewtopic.php?f=42&t=65612

Image

A little big for the forum page. If you wanna see the few pixels that got cut off on the right, right-click the picture and open it in a new tab or something. Only missing a few pixels, though.

Edit: I don't have a tablet, so I drew this with the touchpad on my mom's laptop, which was difficult. That's why the lines are bad and everything. I'm really bad at drawing on computers.

Oh, and here's full-body. In the story, she rides a motorcycle, which is why she's wearing leather.

I'm posting this as a separate post rather than editing the last, that way we'll get closer to a new page, to prevent this page from having too many images.

NOTE: For some weird reason, you can't see the shading of you're on your phone. Only if you're on a computer. I'm not sure why, at all. I don't think it's because it's a .png file...

I didn't make her body very feminine... I'll try redoing this someday. Probably on paper, though, where I'm better at.

EDIT: Did that in Microsoft Paint, by the way. I don't have Photoshop haha.

Not bad. I like the expression a lot :) (Makes me think of Korra from LOK a little bit).
I'd be lying if I didn't say the proportions weren't off, but I give you props for drawing it in MS paint. (Especially since it's still fairly decent)

Thanks :D
And yay, Korra :thumb:

And yeah, I'm just really bad at drawing on computers.

However, a couple hours ago, I did this in MSPaint:

Sorta proud of that one. Good for me, with MSPaint, at least.

The shading's a bit off, but that's okay. I couldn't figure out how to shade in MSPaint so I just winged it.

Whoa. That's really good Smitty! It's so hard trying to draw online but you did really good. I especially LOVE that car. :D

Hey Smitty, love your drawing of Gandalf, absolutely fantastic!

Do you use a mouse or graphics tablet to draw on the computer? I find the graphics tablet is much better, but does take some time getting used to. I find that using a pencil gives me more control, I need to practice with the tablet more.

Hope to see more great drawings from you!

Thank you :D
It is really hard drawing on computers, using a mouse. Really wish I had a drawing tablet.
And Photoshop, since I used MSPaint lol.

I use a mouse, unfortunately. I'd like to get a tablet someday, though, but I only get money on Christmas and my birthday...
Maybe when I'm an adult and I can finally get a job I can get one. v.v

Gandalf picture is overkill amazing. As for the digital you could always go with a photoshop trial, or a paint.net or a gimp route. You should check out the sketches of da-vinci as well, since you would love sketching in the same artstyle manner he did.

Keep it up.

I strongly recommend you consider saving up and buying the Photoshop program. This are very impressive to be done in Paint, but you could really excel in using Photoshop and a tablet. The car is well done. For bodies, I suggest looking into some resource books. Nude models for artists are a great resource. Also, based on the style I am seeing emerge, I recommend you buy Anatomy for the Artist by Carter and Courtney (ISBN: 0752586688) for your personal library.

Yup, Photoshop is the master as far as painting software goes, no doubt about it, and a tablet is pretty mandatory too.

Until then, you might want to check out gimp or paint.net, or anything else that is freeware and challenging the might of photoshop. Stuff like that always develops.

If you are going to buy a photoshop lisence, I would highly suggest you try to find dealers who essentially collect new software by bankruptcy sales. I've seen prices dip from 2500'ish which is not unheard for an adobe product to like 350 dollars and it stands above board. Can be a bit tricky to find, but it is worth doing so if you find yourself with the means.

Potentially, and this is a bit heavier, you could check if there are stipends for young artists to be found that could cover some if not all of the equipment costs. You got the CV to back it up and you're in the age were it is best to learn such quickly.
