Berserk Question

Postby theanimeguy » Tue Apr 15, 2008 4:36 pm

Are there any "safe" volumes of Berserk. The manga really interests me, but I hate nudity/s*x scenes. I don't care about the violence too much. I know Blade of the Immortal has some volumes that don't contain much objectionable content, but what about Berserk? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

(Vol.1 did not look to bad, but I did not look deep into it either)

This is going to date me . . . but when I think Berzerk, I think Evil Otto. :)

I think Berserk is more graphic than Blade of Immortal, having read both.

If you can't take nudity/sex, say No to Berserk.

I'll stick with Blade. Blade is not too bad (content wise)at times, thats why I like it.

There are a few "safe" volumes, but there's no point in reading only 10% of the series. It is not possible to experience the story in a meaningful fashion without dealing with graphic sex and extensive violence.

The first volume of Berserk? Because there is nudity/sex on the first page.

What is the safe volume, just out of curiosity?

I was hoping you wouldn't ask that. Off-hand I can't say, I just remember periods during the flashback where there is mostly violence instead of sexuality. To be honest I'd have to go to a bookstore and start flipping through volumes to properly answer your question.

If you don't mind taking a risk, volumes 2 and 3 may be relatively safe, unless I'm forgetting something.

like UC already pointed out, there's no point in reading merely the clean volumes because you'll only be getting bits and pieces of the whole story. i'd suggest simply not reading it.

I'd also suggest avoiding it altogether. Good story notwithstanding, there's no getting around the mature material that makes up a big part of it.

Eh, IMO, there are no safe volumes in Berserk. The mature themes are necessary to the plot so you're not going to get the full story by reading bits and pieces of it.

May I politely ask why you're still keen about this series, despite the warnings? Did a friend recommend it?
