I read about all I've been able to find, and though fan servicey, I love the characters and the plot and the interactions between them.

Anyone elses thoughts on this?

I looked into it a bit while skimming Weekly Shonen Jump, but the fanservice just put me off of it. What struck me was the art style; usually I equate that sort of art with shoujo, but this is most definitely a shonen series.

No, it isn't.

As Aka-chan stated, it runs in Weekly Shonen Jump.
A male main character + half a dozen girls + fanservice = shonen.

I'd disagree, after reading only about 11 or 12 volumes of it, I'd say its shoujo. While there is a main male character chased around by some girls with fanservice, the plot and character development is so good that calling it "Shounen" doesn't exactly fit it well. I know plenty of girls who like it too. Plus Weekly Shounen Jump doesn't pick specifically Shounen manga, but rather what they think their readers will buy.

Out of curiosity, why do they call it Shonen Jump then? Shonen basically means that its main target audience is boys, but not that it can’t appeal to girls and not that it has to have fighting. A lot of shonen series have huge female followings. Like I said, I haven’t read much of the manga, though, so I guess I can’t really accurately call it. The fact that every chapter I glanced at seemed to have at least one prominent panty shot was one factor that made it look pretty shonen to me at least (but that may have just been ill chance in picking up random chapters).

Anyway, since we’re pushing the line of getting offtopic, maybe you could outline some more specifics that you like about this manga? I’m a bit curious; it’s not a huge title, so I haven’t really talked to anyone who knows this series very well before.

If something runs in Shonen Jump, males are the main target audiance. It is definetly shonen because the company that owns it (Shueisha in this case) says that it is shonen. It doesn't matter if it's about romance or cute art or relationships or whatever. Love Hina is also shonen you know.
If Viz ever acquires Ichigo 100%, it is going to be put under their Shonen Jump graphic novel line.

Perhaps I misunderstood this, but are you implying that the plots/characters are usually not good in shonen manga?

*Ahem* Jet cooling time, guys. Shonen vs. shoujo is a pretty silly thing to get up in arms about, especially since it's just a sub genre and doesn't affect the manga at all. I'd really like it if someone would summarize the plot rather than argue back and forth whether or not it's for boys or girls.

I hear some Borders in the US are carrying this and some other titles, untranslated and all. Not sure if I want to pick any up though.

Well there pretty much is a panty shot or something similar in most chapters, but if you can get by that (like it doesn't bother you and it doesn't tempt you), the plot is about a guy who dreams of being a movie producer. While he isn't that smart or great-looking, he's sensitive and willing to stick his neck out for people and has an incredible passion for his dream. He has an overactive imagination and a nack for getting himself in bad situations or misinterpreting things. Though that outlines many mangas, it just caught my interest for some reason (above the others). The artwork is wonderful, and the characters diverse and admirable (except for perhaps Chinami or Satsuki... >_>)
