Poems/Songs of a Sort

Postby Anime_Guy_4ever » Sun May 17, 2009 3:20 am

Well I have been writing poetry for about one summer now and many of my poems are connected to specific Bible verses, so We'll see how these go...

Brink

I stand on the Brink
with little hope in sight.
Asking myself,
Is it worth the fight?

The river beckons,
The flow roars.
What will I become
If I leave its shores?

The cliff calls
its edge ever near.
And once again,
I find myself here.

Will they never end?
These desires I feel
waging war within
As I start to reel.

But as I stumble
towards certain sin.
He reaches out his hands
and pulls me back to Him.

And now I stand on the Brink
with little reprieve in sight.
Telling myself,
It Is worth the fight.

1 Cor. 10:12,13
Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed that he does not fall. No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it.

1 Peter 2:11
Beloved, I urge you as aliens and strangers to abstain from fleshly lusts which wage war against the soul.

*I think that this would be easily adapted into a song, though I have not yet attempted to. This was written immediatly following a missions trip to Philadelphia and attempted to capture the feelings of transitioning from a spiritual high point back to everyday life.
*Wanders off to peruse yet another thread*

2 Tim. 3:16-17(NIV) "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work."
