Failing hero Poems

Postby The_Marauding_Maniac » Thu Jan 15, 2004 5:49 pm

The giant fiddled with a mage,
This made the wizard filled with rage,
He used power but as hard as he try,
He soon became a giant fry.

The dragon slept very sound,
Until by the hero he was found,
The dragon awoke at the wrong time,
The hero was cooked for his crime.

An active volcano had use it’s time,
About the time the hero climbed,
He dawdled long and was disrupted,
For the volcano soon erupted.

The hero tried to cast a charm,
It fired wrong and did him harm.
In a different way, he did quite well,
But he didn’t use the right spell.
Luke was here.

Cute. ^_^ I liked it. It reminded me of a limerick. Although, I'm not sure, since I know nothing of poetry. Please, write some more.

[size=84][color=seagreen]YOU SEE

You see into the deepest part of me ---

beyond the fog I hide behind.

You cast your light upon the shadows

that stretch like cobwebs in my mind.

You ease the pain when I am hurting,

and morbid visions from my past

pierce into the realm of Reason

as though I danced on blades of glass.

You grant me strength when I have fallen

and, once again, I've lost my way.

You take my hand in Yours and lead me

into the promise of a brand new day.

You bring order to all my chaos,

yet set my well-laid plans awry.

You place me on a firm foundation ---

then give me wings so I can fly.

You sand away my roughened edges

and polish all the dullest parts

until I stand before Your presence...

a newly-sculpted work of art.

You see into the heart within me,

right through my motives and selfish will.

And yet, in spite of all You see

You say You love me even still.

Finally, the hero dies and noone really mourns his death. I've been waiting a long time for something like this

They're pretty close to limericks. Limericks are five lines though, with a rhyme scheme of AABBA. I'd call them couplets more than anything, though, since they're four lines and have a rhyme pattern of AABB.
