OK, I have finally got up the courage to post some of my work here . . . be nice please and tell me what you think. These are two poems I wrote about Fushigi Yugi and Trigun. ^_^ Hope you like them!

Fushigi Yugi poem
1-3-04

With a turn of the page
It draws her in
Sets the stage
Changes her life

Once inside
The journey begins
She must reside
This story is her fate

A world of late
Searching for allies
They cannot wait
Racing against time

Each carries a sign
Great gifts of power
Summon suzaku to bind
A priestess and her destiny

3 wishes granted to thee
Who reads this ancient book
Beware you will never be
As you were before.

Trigun poem
1-3-04

Ageless wanderer in the sand
He is all alone
Born in a distant land
Trying to find an answer

Death follows him wherever he goes
A desert storm it would seem
People fear what they do not know
Disappearing in the wind

Many lives all around are lost
Their blood cries out and pierces his heart
He knows all to well the cost
They are not alone in their suffering

A faint melody fills the air
She brings him comfort once again
Alone this pain is too much to bear
He must face his demon

In a flash shots shatter the day
Fighting his dark mirror
He remembers her face and words and ways
Into the horizon he sees a bright future.

I like the Trigun poem a lot! I am intrigues by your rhyming pattern of 1 and 3 per stanza rhyming and 2 and 4 not rhyming. It is very interesting. Gives structure, yet doesn't bind you to digging for rhymes that don't really fit. I like it. I don't have the gift to write with rhymes, because they always end up sounding cheesy. Anyway, good work! :thumb:

I like the Trigun one also. I don't understand anything about timing, but I thought they read well when I read them out loud. ^_^ Thanks for sharing those with us Belldandy.

[size=84][color=seagreen]YOU SEE

You see into the deepest part of me ---

beyond the fog I hide behind.

You cast your light upon the shadows

that stretch like cobwebs in my mind.

You ease the pain when I am hurting,

and morbid visions from my past

pierce into the realm of Reason

as though I danced on blades of glass.

You grant me strength when I have fallen

and, once again, I've lost my way.

You take my hand in Yours and lead me

into the promise of a brand new day.

You bring order to all my chaos,

yet set my well-laid plans awry.

You place me on a firm foundation ---

then give me wings so I can fly.

You sand away my roughened edges

and polish all the dullest parts

until I stand before Your presence...

a newly-sculpted work of art.

You see into the heart within me,

right through my motives and selfish will.

And yet, in spite of all You see

You say You love me even still.
