Misconceptions of Me

Postby choklit » Thu Sep 25, 2008 2:14 pm

I started this poem when i was in one of my moods. Didn't think much of it, but I'm kind of partial to this poem now. It's badly written, with no strict guidelines of rules, more prose than poetry. But it's full of my thoughts, making it special to me. I realize it's my humanity, as unappealing as it is. What people attribute as virtues, sometimes it's just a guise for a less wholesome things.
I hope it makes you think, I did.

I'm not smart,
Just condescending enough to make you think I am.
I'm not pretty.
Just embarrasingly unique.
I'm not musical,
Just barely past tone-deaf.
I'm not artistic,
Just absent-minded.
I'm not attentive,
Just bored.
I'm not perservering,
Just stubborn.
I'm not heroic,
Just doing what needs to be done.
I'm not quiet,
Just proud.
I'm not shy,
Just have nothing to say.
I'm not outgoing,
Just brash.
I'm not easy-going,
Just lazy.
I'm not exceptional,
Just different.
I'm not merciful,
Just resigend.
I'm not alone,
Just ignoring everyone else.
I'm not afraid,
Just annoyed.
I'm not jealous,
Just pains me to care.
I'm not discerning,
Just picky.
I'm not observant,
Just accidentally noticing..
I'm not perfect,
Just human.
I'm not fighting now,
Just barely standing up.
I'm not waiting anymore,
Just going to find my way.
I'm not hopeless now,
Just finding my pease.
I'm not lost now,
Just found my Jesus.
So what's the speed of dark?
