Rebirth

Postby Wolfsong » Mon Jun 23, 2014 7:30 pm

Here, the sands fly through the air
Here, the water rages against the shore
Here the sky rains fire and brimstone
Here my world ends aflare

Here I stand on rocky shoal
Buffeted by elements and beaten by words
Memories of things that haunt my soul

A scream rents the air

I take hold of nothing, there is nothing to claim
All my false strengths and lies have left me
I am laid out, naked and ashamed
All my faults, guilt and dreams for the world to maim

Here I lie on soil my flesh to rend
I choose to give way to the pain inside
My soul to the netherworld will descend

A lost cry; the storm dies

At once I hear you cry my name
At once I hear you scream for my pain
My heart burns to answer but
My fear holds me down

Yours hands take hold
You refuse to let go
Persistently you call my name

My eyes open

Instantly the storm's reborn
Dark hands despairing reach out for me
You hold me tight against your breast
You refuse the darkness me even to see

You lead me safely through the storm
And though I want to give in and die
You refuse to lose the fight

My soul returns to me

Your hands I hold
Your light I keep
Forever this love I have
Burning within me deep

You showed me the way when hope was lost
You gave me life when I gave up
You gave me hope where I had none

A soul is reborn
"Show me thy ways, O Lord; teach me thy paths. Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day." Psalm 25:4-5

"Turn thee unto me, and have mercy upon me; for I am desolate and afflicted.
The troubles of my heart are enlarged: O bring thou me out of my distresses.
Look upon mine affliction and my pain; and forgive all my sins.
Consider mine enemies; for they are many; and they hate me with cruel hatred.
O keep my soul, and deliver me: let me not be ashamed; for I put my trust in thee.
Let integrity and uprightness preserve me; for I wait on thee.
Redeem Israel, O God, out of all his troubles." Psalm 25: 16-22

Only just getting to this but...I think I have a legitimate excuse.
Anyways, this is really nice, Wolf. I like the feel. It's very...sincere and deep.
He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God? -Micah 6:8 KJV
They have shewed thee, O teen, what is good; and what doth the world require of thee, but to fit in, be wealthy, have good looks, and be rebellious? -Peer Pressure 1:1
