Spirited Away!

^^ Yay!

Who else is a fan of one of Miyazaki's best works? I like Haku, especially when he's the white dragon.
Heart of Sword's Rhapsody

Money, get away
Get a good job with good pay and you're okay
And all and all you're just another brick in the wall
Shoutin’ in the street gonna take on the world some day
But Bismallah will not let me go
Because I'll see you on the dark side of the moon

Tommy used to work on the docks
Union's been on strike
Bright eyes burning like fire
And exposing every weakness
However carefully hidden by the kids

Who will love a little Sparrow
Who's traveled far and cries for rest
Spare him his life from this monstrosity

I've seen a million faces and I've rocked them all
And if the band youre in starts playing different tunes
We will we will rock you
We will we will rock you!

I love "Spirited Away" too. It's the 1st Miyazaki film I saw (not counting "Warriors of the Wind" the truncated version of "Nausicaa) followed swiftly by "Castle of Cagliostro", "Castle in the Sky" and "Princess Mononoke". I can't wait for his new movie, Howl's Moving Castle which promises to be quite good!

The only "thing" I have against "Spirited Away" is that rampage Noh-Face does towards the end in the bath-house. Its the only time Miyazaki goes too far (or that's my oppinion). Off course, it's still one of the best movies I've seen. You never know what's going to happen next.

It's one of my favorite movies too, and what I like about it is that it creates an interesting, almost "Alice in Wonderland" type world. The art is also impressive. When I first saw some of the art for the movie, I didn't think I would like it, but as I watched the film it drew me in, and now I like it a lot.

Spirited away is one of my favourite films. My favourite character is Noh-face. You know, I really was stupified by the art in the movie, especially the backgrounds. They looked like photographs almost!

I absolutely love Spirited Away, but only the subbed version; I really don't care for the dub. I'm a Haku fan too, as well as a Kaonashi fan (aka No Face). ^__^

I love Spirited Away! I've seen that movie so many times. ^_^ Haku is my favorite character.

One thing that always bothered me about it though:

How does four-wheel drive enable you to go a mad crazy speed through a forest!? Why does he think he can do that!?

The choice has been made. There's no looking back. I won't let up, back up, give up, or shut up. My focus clear. My path is straight. My God, reliable. I'm a disciple of Christ.

Gods plan is like the sun. its too big and bright to look at directly, and sometimes the rain clouds cover it, but sometimes the plan dapples through the clouds and we can see beautiful glimpses of what he has in store for us.

Although it does serve a purpose; Yubaba's bathhouse has bred a lot of greed and evil. No-Face's fleeting payment of gold (which turns out to be dirt) shows them that money is comes and goes. Yubaba and her greedy servants also get their just deserts (and even some satisfaction) when No-Face throws up on her.

Still is nasty, though...

I suddenly thought of something concerning Noh-Face the other day. Isn't he kind of like an emotion absorbing spirit?

Whenever he's around Sen / Chihiro, who is kind, he seems kinder and helps her, but when he's around the greedy creatures of the bathhouse, he gets nasty and greedy himself. Just a thought.

Miyakazaki rules. I love his movies. The art, stories, and over all feel to Spirited Away will brighten the darkest and most depressing days. No word can describe my love for Spirited Away.

I saw this a while back with friends late one night. It was great. My friend "Rabbit" from school said that the radish character was his favorite. I liked the river guy best

I thought it was a mushroom spirit, not a radish. My grandpa is a Miyazaki fan, which is kind of amazing to me, because he doesn't like anime, or so he says.

My only question is how can Haku be a boy, a dragon, and a river, all at the same time?
Think happy thoughts.

My best guess is this; the physical form of Haku resembles a boy; that's his visual manifestation. He is older than a boy, but that's how he look.

He can become a dragon either because (a) he's a river spirit and, thus, powerful, or (b) he got the power from Yubaba which explains why he turns back into the form of a boy when he finds out his rea name.

And he was a river, but the river has been filled to build buildings on (I don't know what is really said in the Japanese version; this refers to the English dub). Because the river is there no more, he has no more home (as Kamaji?) points out. For all I know the English dub is very different from the Japanese version, but that's my theory.

Hrrm, I've only seen the Japanese, I'm a purist. In the Japanese, haku told Chihiro that when he came to the bathhouse, Yubaba stole his name, making him forget who he was. While riding on his back near the end, Chihiro told him her mother told her when she was small, she fell into a river named Something-Haku, which is why she kept thinking she was underwater. He turned back into a boy and said something about remembering her falling into him, which just got me all confused. I don't remember anything about the river being leveled, though.

Hmmm. Either you missed something or the person who wrote the dubbing script attempted to "fill in the holes". I don't know. I was not present at either so I can only guess.

I would like to learn Japanese. Subtitles can be very bothersome.

I've always wondered how in the world Haku could fly when he was a boy. I always thought that the whole spirit-world was symbolism, so it made sense to me that he was a river. His dragon form was always soooo cool! I loved that it had a wolf face.

You know, his voice sounds strangely like Inuyasha's. It's not the same voice actor, I don't think, but it's still very similar.
