ATHF: Frylock and Meatwad's conversation

Postby Golden_Griff » Mon Aug 23, 2004 11:31 am

Hello all, again :)

Umm, I don't know how many people watch Aqua Teens Hunger Force here but for those of you who do...

Did you see Sunday's episode? I think it's brand new but if not excuse me for discussing old matters.

Well, I thought it was interesting because Frylock was reading some news posted online about a billboard in which people claimed to see the face of Jesus and receive healing. Frylock was telling Meatwad about it but when he went to mention the name of Jesus he stopped himself, saying how he wasn't allowed to say that on television.

Anyway, Meatwad couldn't get a clue of who Frylock was talking about so Frylock was trying to give him clues: "Son of G., went on C.," it was a few other things he said that I can't remember. In addition, he gave Meatwad a bible (and yes, the book he gave him actually had "Holy Bible" written on it) so he could read for himself about "Jee-Wiz" (the codename Frylock used to refer to Jesus).

My main point is that I thought it was interesting how much Frylock went into his conversation with Meatwad to explain who Jesus is, even if they couldn't say his name on television. I mean, it wasn't just another line or joke about religion.

Any other thoughts on this? :eyebrow:

I love ATHF!:)

Well I think it was poking fun at political correctness on television. Notice the comments on bleeping curse words and on minorities.

I love ATHF, though I haven't had the time of day to see the show anymore, anyways I'll certainly look into catching that episode in particular.

You know, that's really good to hear. Amid the rest of the Adult Swim line and all that there is to watch, even that is fairly refreshing. Plus, while I liked Frylock before, I now have another reason.

Frylock is the ONLY reason to watch ATHF in my opinion... Actually, both Frylock and Quinn (sealab) tend to be (though quinn goes back and forth, and when he's in the OTHER mode he's incredibly annoying) voices of reason that make the same sort of arguments I make.

Overall, though, the american side of adult swim is a cesspool... I really only like the venture brothers. It's sorta like the anti-Johny Quest show. Hehehe

"Look, it even melted the little people in it and stuff... awww..."

When something really seems to insult me but it goes in the other direction, I call that a "simpsons moment" So far Aqua Teens and Venture Brothers are the only shows to have any real simpsons moments, though Sea Lab sorta did in one episode (the communism episode)

It would be interesting to see what happens to Adult swim while I"m gone... I wonder if it'll still be around in 2 years... Hmm...

It is a very interesting aspect...

The first episode of Sea Lab I ever saw was the Happy Cake Oven one. After seeing that, I thought the show was entirely hilarious. That slowed after seeing more, but that episode has always struck me as one of the funnier fifteen minutes shows I've seen...

"Simpsons moment", I so get what you're talking about Bob. XD

I agree, I'm a big Frylock fan. The most redeeming aspect of ATHF and possibly all of Adult Swim's original stuff. As for Sealab, I go back and forth from loving it's clever jabs to being totally annoyed by it. They are interesting shows, to say the least.

(I think Frylock has the same VA as Quinn incidentally, that wouldn't be too far off since both shows are made by mostly the same people).

Alright! Lots of ATHF fans :thumb:

Yes, Frylock is also my favorite character because of his reasoning; Carl is my favorite because he's just funny

Nope... Brett Butler has more of a "funky sounding" voice, its a bit higher pitch than Carey Means, who plays Frylock... Frylock's voice is a bit deeper and doesn't get annoying like Brett Butler's voice.

So, was it straight from the top that this decission was made? Was it Ted Turner who said that the name of Jesus could never be spoken in reference to him on a Turner network? That would make a whole lot of sense... Ted Turner is vehemently anti-christian... He divorced Jane Fonda as soon as she became a Christian... He just has a severe hatred for Christians and for God...

So we should all pray for Saul... I mean Ted.... I know that's a bit off topic, but it's worth mentioning.

WHAT?! :wow!: O my gosh...I mean, I didn't know about Ted Turner enough to know his religious (or non-religious) affiliation. But I especially didn't know that he was an absolute anti-Christian! :stressed:
