I wasn't aware they did....my fiance has been wondering why he hasn't seen the next shows in the series...so has my "little brother" (in christ). Though I'm not complaining. Carl can't make me watch them now XD

They're not airing because it takes them a long time to make the episodes. New ones will be starting in a couple months.

Well maybe they were just doing what they usually do. They show a little bit of a season, stop, then after a half a year they air more. AS does this with anime(Remember Inuyasha and FMA.). Maybe they are just trying to extend it or maybe they weren't ready to air the next part of the season(Probably to make those episodes as Lady Rushia says.). Remember the last new episodes that aired were like the end of that part of the season. And it made for a great cliff hanger. Man don't we all hate those, but that's one of the tricks to holding a good audience of viewers.

Avatar will be airing again in July. Some complications with scheduling is why the DVD came out with episodes earlier than when they'll air on TV (I'm not entirely sure why...).

Of course, being the nerd and cheapskate that I am, I have already watched up to the Boiling Rock online. XD;;
Now my opinion of the most recent episodes in spoiler brackets. If you haven't seen past Day of Black Sun, don't ruin it for yourself!!

[spoiler="click here"]Personally, I don't think there will be a problem with timing. Aang didn't master firebending in the dragon episode, he just learned how to do it. As evidence, in the Boiling Rock episodes, Zuko leaves behind instructions for Aang to train strengthening exercises. Additionally, I don't believe Aang has "mastered" Earthbending either because Toph is still at a higher level than him. My theory is that he won't have every element completely mastered, but he will have enough skill with each, and enough help from each of his friends, to defeat the firelord. Anyways, there seems to be a buddy-up-with-Zuko trend for each of the characters. Aang and Sokka have had their turn, and I don't think Toph really needs the push to accept Zuko, so that just leaves Katara. Then there's a funny episode about the Ember Island Players (who put on a reenactment of the groups travels thus far. Check out the 7-minute preview clip online; it's hilarious), and after that I would assume there's set up for the finale and the finale itself. Somewhere in there, Zuko's gotta rescue his mom (I suspect the Katara/Zuko bonding episode) and the whole secret society/Iroh storyline has to wrap up (I suspect in the buildup to the finale or in the midst of battle they arrive as help...). Anyways, I think it'll turn out fine. During all those episodes Aang can be training.[/spoiler]

As for the quality of Avatar's animation... Honestly, it's better animated than some Japanese anime. Modeling the animation after live reference really helps that, and it especially shows in the fight scenes.

That's my two cents. In case you didn't pick up on it, I like Avatar. Moderately. :]

In my opinion, it's probably the best animated series on Nick. It isn't overloaded with toilet humor, the characters are well developed, everything seems to be filled with imagination, stuff like that. ^_^ I would call it anime, since it seems based off actual anime. I don't think you have to be a certain race to make anime.

When I first started seeing this show, I found myself rather shocked at how good it was. Thought Nickelodeon was no longer capable of funding anything of quality.

This is an older interview, I don't know if they've contradicted this more recently, but:

IGN: "What can we expect for Avatar's third season? Will this season be the final installment to the Avatar world?"

Nevermind randomuser83, I found out last night in the tv guide that the Avatar episodes starts again on nick on july 14th and I also found out on july 19th that there will be a tv movie called "Sozin Comet" that airs on nick.

@ Lilac#18- It's possible that they may show all five of the episodes over before showing the movie, but I don't now about it. But I would think that they would show them again because Avatar is a very popular show.

I missed alot of the new Avatar episode an hour ago and I only caught half of it. It was because of my 11 year old brother and 6 year old nephew who wanted to watch Chowder over Avatar. They hate Avatar, except my niece. It's a good thing they repeat it tomorrow.

Air would make more sense as a prologue. Anyway, the finale was awesome, but there are only two minor questions that were left unanswered. It's not really a problem, though. The fanfic writers need source material.

Since the creators said they might do more in the world of Avatar, I'd like to see some of the other Avatars' stories or something that takes place before the air benders were wiped out.
