To End All Wars is still my favorite. Most of those others fell off, but...

2. Maybe Léon
3. Frequency
4. Dark Knight
5. Hot Fuzz
6. Goofy Movie
7. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
8. Secret of NIMH
9. Stranger than Fiction
10. Toy Story 3?

I don't know, I'm sure I'm forgetting movies that I like better than other movies on this list, but it's late... So there you go.

Here's a challenge for everyone: Pick a single title that is your favourite. You'll have to think about it for a while but you'll understand better why you like what you like.

Then I'd have to say The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring. It makes my heart soar. It awakens my imagination. It makes me want to take up a sword and fight for all that is good in this world, and never give up even when the darkness closes in. Even if they hadn't been able to make the sequels, FotR would stand as my single favorite movie of all time, because even with a cliffhanger ending, it still gives us hope. Besides...

"I made a promise, Mr. Frodo! A promise! 'Don't you leave him, Samwise Gamgee.' And I don't mean to. I don't mean to."

:waah!:

In my early teens the answer was, without a doubt, The Fellowship of the Ring. I practically BREATHED LOTR from ages 13-16.
Then, for the longest time, my answer was "Gladiator." I loved everything about it.

These days, I haven't seen either in so long that I'm really not sure what my favorite movie is anymore. I may hark back to my childhood and say "Beauty and the Beast."

I know my 10 list was very clear about my #1. My #1 hasn't changed in about 8 years. To End All Wars. There's no question. Still, if the new rule is we have to focus on one movie, then I may as well explain WHY.

The movie is a true story with some alterations due to limitations on casting and avoiding numbness... By that I mean that the Thai-Burma railroad prison camps were FAR more brutal than they portrayed on TEAW, but they shot a more violent version before and people walked out missing the point of the movie. They realized they had to show JUST ENOUGH of the violence to get the point across and not overwhelm the message. (another big complaint is that the prisoners in the railway camps were far more emaciated than the actors, but again... they can't get hundreds of extras to be like Christian Bale in the Machinist and nearly starve themselves to death so they'd look super skinny...)

Anyhow, speaking of getting away from the message, it's forgiveness. Not easy forgiveness, not "he stole my pig" or "She stole my boyfriend". No, it's "These people treated me like a non-human for years, but I'm still going to treat them like humans" and I've never seen that concept portrayed so well. The acting was great, and the secondary actors were all mainline actors even though the main character was sort of unknown outside of Scotland. Robert Carlyle, Kiefer Sutherland, and cast of Japanese actors, most of whom were part of Akira Kurosawa's troupe...

It was particularly brave of them (both the casting directors approaching the Japanese cast, and the cast themselves) considering how often the Japanese try to avoid talking about the more negative things their government was involved with in that time. Though it was only briefly mentioned, for instance, comfort women were brought up in the film (it was made clear the main Japanese guy and the Interpreter didn't have anything to do with that, though the other two higher ups did)

It's unfortunate I don't own a copy of any of my favorite movies, and this one went out of production a long time ago. I hope to track down a copy that's not too expensive once I have work and am stable in School.

The most I can narrow it down to is a top 5 list in no real order 1. the original un altered Star Wars trilogy without the stupid ewok blinking, pointless new CG and the ruining of the Jabbas palace dance number. 2.Starship Troopers (the 1st one only though especially NOT 2) 3. Toy Story(the 1st one, not that the sequels arent great or anything its just the one I'm really attached to its a masterpiece) 4. the Original 70s Dawn of the Dead(even though I also liked the new one the original is my favorite. 5. The 1930s King Kong.
