Goblet of Fire

Mugglenet has been my source for info on the fourth Harry Potter movie... This one, actually, has allready disappointed me, even close to a year before it is going to be released. GoF is a very long book, but the movie is only going to be 2 and 1/2 hours long... How is this possible? I can understand wanting to keep it one movie, but at least go 3 - 31/2 hours...

In any case, there are two official pics, which I have in my screensaver now, and some pics from newspapers (such as Rita Skeeter...)

This is, once again, a new director... SO, let's hear from the fans and foes of Chris Columbus and Alfonso Cuaron! Do you think this new director will be able to pull it off, with a 2 and 1/2 hour timeframe no less? What scenes are you looking forward to seeing the most? What CHARACTERS are you looking forward to seeing the most?

I am looking forward to seeing the underwater challenge... I hope that all of the challenges are kept intact. I also hope they don't remove Moaning myrtle from the story as she is my favorite side character from the movies... It's mostly because she looks like one of my friends. I wasn't quite as fond of her in the books, but if her movie persona as well as her actress are kept intact, I would really want to see her in this movie.

I really can't wait to see Rita, as well as Victor and Fleur... I am quite looking forward to the quidditch world cup as well, and I hope this scene isn't minimized or removed, though I don't see how it could be removed... I hear a couple of book regulars that got no speaking parts will be getting speaking parts in this installment, including Pavarti. Once again, no peeves yet, but I guess he's not really important...

Anyhow, any thoughts?

I hold out almost no hope for this movie, although it is om favorite of the books. We can only hope that the new director is better than Alfonzo (In my oppinion he completely botched the third movie). It will be tough to make such a long complex book into a short movie, and the result will inevitably dissapoint avid fans such as myself. I this new fellow is able to make the movie worth watching for people who have not read the book while at the same time keeping the basic plot intact I will be very much suprised.

I hope Mad Eye turns out alright. He is a great character and deserves to portrayed well.

Amen on the Mad Eye comment, but I heard that Daniel is stopping after the Prisoner, is that true?

No... I have 2 pics with him in Goblet of Fire... They're on http://www.mugglenet.com

That reminds me... Mad Eye Moody... He could be done so... wrong if they are given the chance. I wasn't all that fond of PoA movie, but it wasn't that bad. I must say that the character design for Peter Pettigrew was annoying, but I thought Lupin and Sirius were good. I did not like the werewolf, though...

So, yeah, I'm looking forward to seeing moody... I hope he turns out well. I saw Rita Skeeter, and she turned out just fine, in my opinion...
Is she found out in GoF or in OotP to be an animagus? I forget
Still... Peter... That still bugs me...

Does Hagrid's brother show up in OotP or in GoF? I don't want to think of what they'll do to him... In any case, I'm not going to pass judgement on a director I know nothing about and a movie I haven't seen just because it is short... I just hope that by the time OotP rolls around, they go AT LEAST 3 hours... A 3 hour theatrical with a 4 hour special edition would be even better... They would likely be accused of copying Peter Jackson if they did that, though... I would definately forgive them for that sort of ripoff... I think LotR is the standard to be met now.

I thought Cuaron did a great job with Azkaban, but I am also disheartened about GoF. I don't see how they can compress it well, especially when they are going to compress it so much. I must say that the underwater challenge could be great - let's see what they end up doing with it. For some reason, I liked the examination part of the book as well, and I have a feeling that will be going....

We'll just have to wait and see.

Two and a half hours!? Wow. . . they either have a brilliant screen writter who has invented some very novel way to fit a ton of information into a short amount of time, or one director will be in serious trouble with alot of angry Harry fans.

I, personally, liked Cuaron's Azkaban better than any of Columbus' films. To me, it felt that he captured the somewhat darker nature of the book. Someone's going to have to do it, considering the fact that they're working towards OotP (a book which I think is almost too intense for the age bracket that the first book was aimed at.)

I look forward to the Yule Ball. Can't wait to see
Emma all dolled up!
Also, I want the scene with Mytrle and the bath room. I thought it was one of the funniest parts in the entire book.

Lastly, during the Prior Incantatem (forgive my misspelling), I want them to get someone who
actually looks like Harry to play his James! I haven't liked any of the actors who have played him.
One thing that worries me is that I heard and interview with Rupert. In his statement, he commented that there is alot of Ron/Hermione instances in the movie. While we had hints in GoF at a possible future relationship between the two, I don't want them clogging up time when material from the book could be covered with fabricated Ron/Hermione stuff.

BTW, Bob, Grawp doesn't enter the book until OotP.
We find out she's an animagus at the end of GoF, if my memory serves me correctly. . .
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. It will be interesting to see how they condense Order of the Phoenix into 2 and half hours as well.

I'm hoping for atleast three hours for Order. They gave each of the Lord of the Rings books atleast that much, and I'm not sure they have as many words as Order does. *crosses fingers* Three hours, please!!!

Hopefully, as I had said, the next director will take a cue from PJ and release an extended 3 and 1/2 hour edition of Order... Hey, maybe we'll even see that for GoF... One can only hope...

That reminds me... I haven't seen the special features on CoS or PoA... *sigh* I need to rent those again...

They got a good person to play Voldemort :D. Didn't expect this otherr guy to play Mad-Eye Moody tho...

Yeah, I was very happy with their choice for Voldemort. I hold out hope for Mad Eye, but it's a tiny little hope.
