I haven't seen the Cradle of Life yet. I may possibly rent it this weekend. (Along with Bruce Almighty) I actually like the movies a lot better than the games. I dunno, the games just never appealed to me. Especially the controls. Whoever created the control scheme that haunts games like Tomb Raider, Dino Crisis, Resident Evil, ect. is (too pick my words carefully) a moron. =P

Never have cared much for the whole Tomb Raider franchise.

I agree with you about the controls. Man, that drove me crazy.

On one of the games, I kept getting stuck on the first blasted mission because the controls made it impossible to pull off what should have been a simple platform jump. :shady:

I greatly prefer the games.. I remember when the first Tomb Raider game came out, everyone was drooling over it because of the level of realism. To me the movies just seemed to be about rinsing the last little bit of money out the legacy...

The first two games=best tomb raider stuff ever.

I'm with MasterDias on this one about the games. I've seen both of the movies and it didn't really grab my attention.

I have 1 and 3 of the series, haven't finished either one (did almost finish 3 though).

I liked the movies, didn't think they where all that bad, though.

The controls for the games are somewhat, irksome... but on the other hand, jumping and what-not are very similar in style to the old Prince of Persia game.

Yes. I never cheat (well, there was that one time when I edited the data files for the last level of Driver) - gave up on the final boss battle.

Volt wrote:Uhmmm, why do you gamerz have to diss on the controls all the time :shady: ... I mean its not like they're impossible, I got use to Tomb Raider 2's controls in a day or two... They are wonderfully detailed and serve thier purpose greatly...
Actually, the problem I have with them is their lack of precision and handling. I've played quite a few 3rd person 3D over the sholder type games and many have all the ability of Laura without the jerky movement (Shadowman and Splinter Cell would be two on my list).

Volt wrote: Not all controls have to be the average, generic, boring, typical, Up moves up screen, down moves downscreen, left moves left screen..etc...
No, but if that's all the character has to do, then that's all the controls need to do. Ms. Croft does quite a bit more, and the controls themselves wouldn't even be so bad if she responded to them better.

I'll have to be sure to snag TR2 the next time I come across a copy at EB.

Yeah the first two Tomb Raider games were the best. After that it was all about what new outfit or moves Lara had. The movie was nice because of all the beautiful places in the world she actually went to. It was just absolutely breathtaking.

I never played the games, and have not *yet* seen the 2nd movie.

I loved the first movie... I own it. Actually, it helped push me to start martial arts training... although I'd wanted to before, Angelina Jolie inspired me. Girl power!
