The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe

Walden Media, with Disney as distributor (no, they have no say in the movie, thank goodness, before you hardened CS Lewis fans freak out  Walden has hocked the majority of the hundred million dollar budget) is making a movie of "The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe" by CS Lewis and have given these images from the pre-production. Just wanted to share them with you.

2005?! >.<;; I can't wait. It looks fantastic!
"So David said to Michal, "It was before the LORD, who chose me instead of your father and all his house, to appoint me ruler over the people of the LORD, over Israel. Therefore I will play music before the LORD. And I will be even more undignified than this, and will be humble in my own sight. But as for the maidservants of whom you have spoken, by them I will be held in honor."

2 Samuel 6: 21&22

"I am going to take this bucket of water and pour it on the flames of hell, and then I am going to use this torch to burn down the gates of paradise so that people will not love God for want of heaven or fear of hell, but because He is God."

There could be a truly good Christian movie for once. Glad to see there will be a new movie adaption of the book. I wonder if that is a series in the works...

(I could have sworn there was another thread about the movie.)

Well, anyway, it looks like Walden Media has a talented art department. A movie series for all of the books would be fantastic, but of course, such an ambitious wish is dependant on how well this movie is received. Hopefully, they will do a good job in being faithful to the book and creating an awesome presentation.

It is encouraging to see this film project is not dead.

Is Peter Jackson and Weta also going to do this one too? I remember that he and it was going to do a remake of King Kong, Evangelion, and Narnia. Definitely differing genres.

WETA is doing the special effects, but that's it. LW&W is being directed, uh, Andrew Adamson, who directed Shrek 1 & 2. (??????!?!??!?!).

I've heard about WETA doing Evangelion, but I can't find anything about it, so I take it as a rumor. As for King Kong; didn't the 70s remake bomb? You'd have thinked they'd have learned then.

The link at the bottom of the pictures answers a lot of questions. u.u

Walden Media has optioned the entire series (all seven books) for movie adaption, but all rests on the sucess of the first movie.

Walden has also produced the movie "Holes" which was both an excellent movie and an excellent adaptation of the book (an excellent book in itself).

Although his only directing credit is the two Shrek movies, Adamson has indicated that he's going to keep true to the source material (let's hope he keeps to that).

I was not very excited when I read about the planned movie, but when I saw those sketches...I became officially excited.

PS: Walden Media is owned a some billionaire who is also (apparently) a Christian, so that at least counts in the favour of the movie being "politically corrected" by Disney.

Also go to this link that is within the thread:

I've looked around and one of the guys in Weta said that something of the like that since they could make thousands of monsters, then they can make one monster and create every little hair on him.

No, I've seen alot of sorce material and some sketches from Weta's Evangelion stuff. I'm pretty sure that's a done deal.-- Atleast I think. I'll have to go back and check.
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

Evangelion isn't a rumor, but that doesn't mean it will go full production...

Anyhow... I'm excited about this... I grew up on Narnia!

You grew up on Naria? I grew up in a wardrobe. So I guess our childhoods were similar ;).

This is so EXCITING! I've seen several movie versions of "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe" and the cheesiness level was almost painful at times. n.n I guess that's the disadvantage to today's level of technology that can be used to make movies look so realistic - they make all the older movies look so pathetic by comparison. Anyways, I've always wanted to see a new version and I guess I'll get to in a year or so!
I'd like to slip into something more comfortable....like a coma.

My thoughts on the definition of "a good movie":

On one hand, many people will want it to be very close to the books. On the other, it should also be "cool" to attract most of society. Will the relatively few fight scenes be cool ones? Will there were jaw-dropping special effects? These things are not mutually exclusive, but I must wonder about the balance that will be reached.
