I love 16-bit console RPG's. I love the quirky characters, I love the epic plots, I even love the goofiness and general oddities of some of them. Overall, they are my favorite kind of game.

However, it has come to my attention that RPG's today just like a certain level of appeal that RPG's of the 16-bit era had. I still like modern RPG's, but that quirkiness I find so fascinating in 16-bit RPG's seems to be dead. Maybe it's just me, but I'd like to give a hats off to the olden golden RPG's of yore.

This is Final TriggerBound Dragon Star of Mana, an RPG that results when you take all the great RPG's of the SNES and Sega Genesis and throw them in a blender. There is no set storyline; rather, we will all work together in creating a coherent plot. Instead, there are a few guidelines to keep in mind when making a character and playing the game:

#1. There is no set theme or genre. Want to have a highly advanced domed city right next to a medieval kingdom? Go for it. Starships AND magical airships? Sure. Zombie cowboys with telekinesis traveling through time? Have at it. Just have fun and make it as awesome as you'd like.

#2. The world will be built from the ground up, meaning that longer posts are somewhat necessary. Occasionally make some references to the world or universe at large. Be in-depth in everything you do.

#3. The character format is like such:

Name: Your character's name.
Sex: Your character's gender.
Age: Your character's age.
Species: Human? Elf? Sentient Wolf? Wendigo? Whatever you like.
Skills and Powers: Pyrokinesis? Teleportation? Improbable aiming skills?
Appearance: What your character looks like.
Personality: What your character acts like.
Bio: A short (or lengthy) history of your character.
Other: Anything else worth mentioning.

Oh, YEAH! This is my kinda RP!!!!!!

Name: Dia
Sex: Female
Age: 14
Species: Dragon/human hybrid.
Skills and Powers: Flight, Shapeshifting, Gem/Metal manipulation

Personality: Her personality changes drasticly with her mood. If she's happy, she's outgoing, if mad, she's hotheaded and stubborn, if sad or scared, she's shy and timid.
Bio: She used to be a normal dragon/human hybrid, but she was taken from her family at the age of 6 and taken to an underground lab where she was experimented upon and in time gained the powers she now has. (Unfortunately, she lost her ability to breath fire) On the day she turned 11, she escaped, but not without injuring several scientists. She now lives almost like a runaway, always being tracked by the scientist's cyborgs who track her by her biosignature.

Name: Raleigh
Sex: Male
Age: 20
Species: Human
Skills and Powers: White Magic, Sentinel, Fighter.
Appearance: Blond Hair, Blue Eyes, Tall, Average weight. Wears silver armor.
Personality: Works for the good of the people and allies, protecting them and aiding them when in need. Kind and gentle.
Bio: Raleigh was just recently promoted to Paladin class after serving in the Knight academy and taking several classes in White magic. When he was young, him and his family were in a terrible accident involving the destruction of their house by fire. If it weren't for Jameson, a knight that just happened to be walking by, him and his family would've burned to death. This is what made him decide to become a knight and later a paladin.
Other: Lawful Good alignment. Paladin Class - Rank 1. Can cast up to level 4 White.

I'm new to this kind of stuff, but I would like to try!

Name: Kirimi
Sex: female
Age: 16
Species: Alien
Skills and Powers: mind-reader
Appearance: She's an alien, but she look totally normal (human). She got long black hair and deep brown eyes. Always wearing school uniform.
Personality: She is gentle and nice, but when she becomes angry, she could kill everyone in her sight. Smart. Doesn't talk much.
Bio: She is from the planet 8562. Her life was perfect, until 8562 exploded. After seeing her family and love ones die a terrible death, Kirimi discovered a part of her she doesn't know. The part of her that wants to kill everything when she is mad. When Kirimi wakes up after losing control over her own body, she doesn't remember anything. Kirimi is now living on earth as a normal high school student, and tries to live peacefully as possible, but...
Other: Kirimi's name is often mistaken for "creamy". Mind-reading is useful for Kirimi at times, but she doesn't like it.

Skills and Powers: Flight, speech, magic (not too skillful with this though)
Appearance: White horse with wings? XD
Personality: Very distrustful of everybody. Bitter.
Bio: Grew up with a human. They became best friends. Had a huge misunderstanding, but when Quintessa found out the truth, the human was already dead. Bitter, distrustful personality because of this.

Okay, I'm gonna submit some character types I've seen in several RP's.

1. Name: Indigo
Sex: Female
Age: Appears to be 30, but is at least a century old
Species: Falconer (read bio).
Skills and Powers: She can fly and is an excellent healer. She always carries herbs, tinctures, and numerous other healing items, just in case.
Appearance: Indigo is quite angelic looking. She has a huge pair of blue wings on her back, which is the origin of her name.
Personality: Indigo is a very quiet girl and keeps to herself. She feels survivor guilt (see bio), and this has caused her to wrap a "shell" around her personality.
Bio: Indigo is the last survivor of the race of Falconers, or so she believes. But lately, she has been receiving dreams that are messages from the spirits of her ancestors. These dreams are guiding her to where her people have been exiled.
Other: Anything else worth mentioning.
2. Name: Kori
Sex: Female
Age: 10, in human years. 5 in the years of her species.
Species: Will-o-wisp
Skills and Powers: She can do spin attacks, sort of like Sonic the Hedgehog
Appearance: Kori is a furry creature, sort of like the tribbles from Star Trek. It can roll into a ball, which is her primary form of attack.
Personality: Kori has a very cheerful personality, and likes to use her cute appearance to gain friends. Also, talk like Yoda she does :wink:.
Bio: Kori is an adventurous type and constantly travels the world in search of adventure.
3.Name: Edward Harrison
Sex: Male
Age: 30
Species: Human
Skills and Powers: Edward is an inventor. He pilots an Airship powered by solar energy,and has several weapons he's invented, including a crossbow that fires like a machine gun.
Appearance: Edward has crew cut blonde hair and green eyes.
Personality: Edward has a rather mercenarious side, and will only assist if he feels he can get something out of it. However, he does draw the line at killing people.
Bio: Edward is an inventor and mercenary. He's been tinkering with his airship and weapons ever since he was a boy, and loves to improve them.

Excellent. I approve all characters.

Now, for the big bad, the main villain that must be conquered to finish the story. I will be keeping some stuff on this guy secret, so as not to ruin his mystery.

Name: Ilmig Airom (may or may not be a pseudonym)

Sex: Unknown. Most likely male, given the name provided.

Age: Unknown.

Species: Unknown. The name that Airom goes by suggests a dwarven descent, but this is but a theory.

Skills and Powers: See bio.

Appearance: Given that Airom is a shapeshifter, all the descriptions of the witnesses of Airom's crimes are different.

Personality: Nobody quite knows for sure. Airom only begain his crime spree four years ago, yet nobody has a clue what he's like. Given the notes that he leaves on the bodies of his victims taunting the police, he is either very arrogant or legitimately insane.

Bio (warning; long one):
Of all the criminals in the land today, none are more prolific than Ilmig Airom. It began four years ago when a dwarven diplomat from the city of Uvelnur was headed towards Nacitav City.

He never reached his destination.

When investigators went searching for him, they found his ambushed escort party in plain view along the route to Nacitav City.

There were no survivors.

The dead bodies killed so that they were easily identifiable. Given that nothing valuable was taken and that the bodies were left out in the open, it was not a robbery.

Investigators found a note, written in blood, attached to the forehead of the diplomat, Urist Angerbrew:

"I AM ILMIG AIROM. I WORK ALONE. MR. ANGERBREW'S DEATH WAS JUST AND NECESSARY. DO NOT MEDDLE, LEST YOU FIND YOURSELF IN HIS SITUATION. HAVE A BEAUTEOUS DAY."

Uvelnur's mayor had a team of their top investigators investigate the situation further.

Within three days, the entire a team was dead, and so was the mayor of Uvelnur. Attatched to his forehead was a note:

"YOU DON'T LISTEN WELL, DO YOU? THIS IS ILMIG AIROM, BY THE WAY."

The new mayor, fearing for his safety, had the case dropped.

The mayor of Nacitav City decided that if Uvelnur wasn't going to do anything, he would.

He wound up dead, too. Attached to his forehead was a note.

"ILMIG AIROM AGAIN. YOU GUYS NEED TO LEARN TO LISTEN. I MEAN SERIOUS BUSINESS."

The case has since gone cold.

Airom continued his murderous rampage. His victims always were people who either tried to uncover his identity, or people in positions of power.

The most amazing thing about Airom is his apparent powers. He has killed generals in fortresses of the highest security level. He has killed people thousands of miles apart in a matter of hours.

It is possible that Airom is a shapeshifter, given the wildly varying witness accounts of his appearance.

His exact powers are unknown, but it's safe to say that he is a force to be reckoned with.

This looks fun/easy-going. Let it be known, I have no internet over the weekend.

Name: Zix Thugtullbaag
Sex: Male
Age: 18 (likes to pretend he is more mature)
Species: Nightmare (A particular race who have hidden in the shadows and are known for causing the nightmares in their victims because they feed off the mare. They appear human while walking the world, but can become wrath like-beings to easily manipulate your mind and dreams. No cures have been found, but its rumored that throwing salt over your shoulder keeps them at bay. They aren't well known, thus why they can slip into houses/dreams undetected.)
Skills and Powers: Telekinesis, Telepathy and Shadow-bending. Terrible with a bow.
Appearance: Short for his race, he stands at 5'9" and weighs less than most of his kind. Dressed in dark colors, black pants, dark brown leather boots, a black shirt and a black cloak with silver stitching on the edges with a silver chain necklace. He is also odd in that he had golden eyes, and a shock of red through his otherwise black hair.
Personality: Clumsy in his own way, pretends to be proud but ends up messing up a lot, tries to convince others he is tough. All together a bit of a bumbler.
Bio: After being raised in the Nightmare society, he taught all their ways, but when they realized he wasn't like them, with his odd golden eyes and red streak in his hair, they banished him and told him to capture 10,000 nightmares before returning, which is an impossible task and exactly why they did it. Zix, now all alone on his travels seeks out the nightmares of others, but can't seem to inflict them on people.
Other: He's an outcast of his race, carries daggers in his boots, and a knife on his back.

Name: Kelley Dee

Sex: Male

Age: 169, though his elven heritage make him appear to be in his late twenties.

Species: Half-Elf

Skills and Powers: Savant-level intellect, a wide variety of knowledge in many fields, expert skill in magic and alchemy.

Appearance: Very tall, thin, and pale. Blue eyes, blond hair. Wears strange and sometimes gaudy clothes.

Personality: Extremely strange, with a hint of childlike sense of curiosity to him, despite his age. Also a tad mysterious, vague, and secretive.

Bio (warning; long one): Kelley Dee was born in Nacitav City and was from birth trained to be a priest, like his father, Jerome Dee, Archbishop of Nacitav City. Kelley was deeply pious, but he found that his grasp of clerical magic, though above average, was lacking; however, Kelley's grasp of arcane magic was masterful, even at a young age. He eventually left Nacitav City, leaving all his family prestige and money behind to seek a new life in the magocracy of Ermesh in the cold, cold North.

Due to Kelley's brilliance, he was able to secure a position at the prestigious University of Ermesh in the Magical Studies Department. Not long after, Kelley was president of the university.

Word of Kelley's many talents spread, making him one of the land's most renowned academics. Kelley's labors paid off: he was soon chosen to be on the council of mages, later becoming head of that council, and eventually Archmage of Ermesh.

Kelley spend over a century as Archmage, making him the longest serving Archmage in history. In that time, he made many landmark discoveries in arcane studies and alchemy.

Kelley eventually married his childhood friend from Nacitav City, who had since replaced Jerome Dee as head of Nacitav City's church. Despite the fact that they spent extended periods of time apart due to their positions, they were very much in love, and had many children.

One day, Kelley left his children and wife in Nacitav City to attend a conference in Gothere.

While he was gone, they were murdered by Ilmig Airom. Attached to to the head of Kelley's wife, Maria Dee, was a note written in blood:

"HEARTS ARE SO MUCH SWEETER WHEN THEY BREAK. WITH LOVE, ILMIG AIROM."

Already having experiencing the death of Nacitav City's mayor, the new mayor refrained from going after Airom. Kelley, wanting to bring Airom to justice, made a motion that Ermesh seek Airom.

For the first time in Kelley's career as Archmage, he was overruled by the council.

After multiple failed attempts to muster Ermesh's forces, Kelley gave up, surrendering his position as Archmage. He now wanders to land, seeking Airom.

Hi OfficerSting,

I was reading what you wrote about the old RPG days, and it really caught my attention. I immediately began thinking of a character, is there anyway a TechnoKnight could fit into this roleplay at anytime? My horse being half motorcycle, my Knight armor is very advance with a shield system and many different gadgets? Let me know if I can still join up not sure how you run the show around here, thanks.

Name: Tric Pico

Sex: Male

Age: 24

Species: Techan Or more popularly known as Techno-Knights

Skills and Powers:
Suit of Armor - Has a invisible shield completely around it mimicking it's shape. Only visible when struck, which makes the shield shimmer and fade to invisible once again.
Left Arm - Robotic arm that hides his favorite weapon the Heavy Barrel. he hasn't found many materials that could withstand it's blow, but the amount of power it takes only allows it for 30 seconds of use.
Helmet - Allows to store information and displays the information on it's head's up display, shows shields levels, power level of the suit, Ability to zoom up to 100x more than his normal eye can.
Boots + Leggings - Allow for quicker movement and reaction time.
Right gauntlet - Index finger contains a port that familiarizes itself with any computer system to port in and hopefully take control.
Shield - Still in Development stages.
Medium Size sword - Fires concentrated shots of plasma energy.

Techno-Armor-Horse - Almost extinct, but his father's survived - it's appearance is of a high tech wide motorcycle with it's front resembling a horse's head.

Appearance: Think of a Knight mixed with tron and Halo. (wink)

Personality: He seeks to help bring justice and protect those needing and deserving of protection.

Bio: (Little Idea of what they are)
The Techan discovered their nervous system is the closest to that of advanced computers. This allows for efficient integration of chips and robotics to their bodies, it's almost flawless. His people, though few today exist, have studied many years on developing their suit of armor, weapons, and means of transportation.

Tric is the youngest Known Techno-Knight, his father was leader of the Elec Clan, which was very strong in managing power systems and heavy weaponry. After the "Great Virus", most Techno-Knights were killed including his entire family and clan members. But he pushes on and every moment he has, he tries to either create new technology or improve on his existing technology.
