I think I figured out your problem.... I looked at the page source for this page and pulled out the URL for the signature picture... it looks like you're trying to host it from some HPPhoto web site... when I pasted the URL and went there, it took me to a login page (or would have if the page didn't take so long to load).

The reason you can see the pic is that the cookie that tells the site you are logged in lets the pic through, for everyone else the site thinks they're not logged in and tries to forward the page over to the login screen.

Clear as mud, I know.

You'll have to find another site to serve the picture from... HP won't like you remote-hosting images on their site (not to mention that all the scripts, cookies, etc. won't let you). Geocities is free, you can trick it into letting you remote-host a pic by giving it the extension .TXT when you upload it (then use the .TXT extension when you link the page too). That's how I'm doing mine (thanks to BobtheDuck for the tip on .TXTing my JPG).

Let us know if you need some help in finding/setting up the file somewhere else.

(volt takes notes) could you repeat that one more time? In super slow mo, like Kindergarden language... Do I actually change the file extension to image.txt or image.txt.jpg?

The extension needs to be physically changed.... so it would be IMAGE.TXT

This way Geocities servers think that you're requesting a text file and doesn't block the request. The browser could care less what the extension of the file is.

I don't know if it makes a difference, but I usually upload the file as an image and then rename it to a TXT file after it's on the server.

Angelfire is probably the best way to go. Free, and it allows direct linking. If you're too young for this one...::whispers:: Fake it.

Why create a new account with a service that 1) will disapear eventually much as all the other free services have, and 2) require that I get and maintain a spam-mail address to keep from having to wade through new spam every day when I've not gotten a single piece in 6mo - 1yr. Esp. when I've got a perfectly working account with Geocities that will do the job (and without too much hastle).

hmm...tripod never sends me any dumb spams or anything like that, I had more problems with my geocities site, before I deleted it... on the graphics side I was finding it to be difficult with the basic stuff...I am a beginning web page designer, though and mayby it works better if you know the programming
