The Case for Christ/Faith/Creator by Lee Storbel.

Hey,

I find these books a great help as an evangelising tool, to give out to my friends after i've had a chat to them about God and JC.
They're pretty cheap, and the answer the questions.
(the case for christ is the best one to give out i think because its christ who saves not if they understanding why evil is in the world etc).

So heads up about those if you wanna us them as a tool, I recommend you do. I personally really sell the fact that Strobel was an atheist and wanted to disprove Christianity because his wife became Christian, and the fact that he was a law journalist and so goes about it objectively, if not subjectively from an atheist pov. And people are more likely to read it knowing that the author isn't 'another christian trying to sell christianity'.
Plus its a good book for sources in essay etc. (if you do philosophy;religion, or anthorp) Hope it helps. Anyone else read them??

I haven't read the Creator one yet, but I have read The Case for Christ and The Case for Faith. Both are pretty good books and have been especially helpful and informative for me.

I believe Campus Crusade gives out free copies of The Case for Christ every year to the incoming freshmen here...

I have read Lee Strobel's series, save for The Case for a Creator. Though I was extremely impressed by the scholarship displayed in [i]The Case for Christ[/u] he didn't do a bad job handling theodicy in The Case for Faith, either.

I thought The Case for Christ was a good introduction to apologetics, though as a perpetual fan of documentation of assertions and citations of texts, I found it was lacking in this respect. For example,Craig Blomberg notes the testimony of Papias concerning the gospel of Mark's relation to the preaching of Peter, and yet there is no endnote of where he (Papias) says this (p. 24). The reader looking for the works of Papias will find that none of them are preserved, with only fragments existing. Where, therefore is this quote from Papias to be found? Answer; it is quoted in Eusebius, Eclessiastical History 3.39, but how would an inquisitive layman whom has only recently read Stroebel's book know that?

Exactly Ghost, its a good book to give to people to start taking the Bible seriously and realize that its not a bunch of myths and fairytales/moral stories.
Plus the references in the back can lead you on to the next book which may be 'deeper' etc.

SMan that is cool. The Gideons hand out the little NT on Orientation Day. I got one and have it in my backpack all the time, and use it lots aswell... like how to spell gideons for example

True, also, so far as I can tell, the masses seem to hate footnotes and endnotes. I say this as several works I have seen by scholars written on a popular level are lacking in this respect (this is my main gripe with William Barclay's The Parables of Jesus and Ben Witherington's The Gospel Code, especially when in the other works I've read of Witherington he is very good at providing documentation). The references in the back were indeed useful but I thought if there were more of them like for the cite of Papias the work would be much finer (and for what it does it is already a very fine work).

Yes, thats right - but before evangelising read Lee Strobels "Inside the mind of Unchurced Harry & Mary" He is a great author!!

Yeah I love Lee Strobel's books: Case for Christ, Case for Faith and Inside the Minds of Unchurched Harry and Mary.

These books have greatly helped me understand my faith better and gave me additional boldness in talking about my faith to others. ^_^ I've referred to them quite a few times while sharing to my roomate and other friends.
