How About a Rep System?

Yeah, A LOT of forums that I'm on (Even mine) has a Rep System.
If you agree or disagree with a post, all you have to do is contribute to them with a rep (Red for bad, Green for good). You can post comments for the rep, and sure, pop a emote in there.

So, opinions?:thumb:

I say... no. I've been on a forum with that feature once, and it just got a little... confusing. Pardon me for being simple, but that's my opinion.

We've been asked this a ton, and the answer now...as it always has been...is no.

HA HA HA HA no.

Having previously frequented a popular board with Rep, I cannot overstate how bad an idea this is.

Our current rep system is much more efficient and flexible. It goes along the lines of "Do I know this person?" "Have I heard of this person?" "Does this person do cool stuff?" and so on. It's kind of like a real life reputation, only it's on the Internet, so it's patentable. :)

Having to deal with a rep system at one board, it was nothing but a headache and cause a lot of problems.

I could only imagine this being inane and useless or massively abused.

Thanks for your suggestion!

I've actually seen reputation done right, but when we evaluated it for this board, it did not seem to be a fit for most of what we do. We felt it would add a bit more of a "clique" environment, and we are not actively seeking that a this time.

So CAA's reputation system is pretty much quoting and agreeing and disagreeing with a post?
It works. :thumb:

A system of quantifying an individual's reputation. It can be as simple as giving someone positive or negative karma (the total is listed in his or her profile) or as complex as showing your support for different posts in a variety of ways (smart, funny, etc).

Pls don't. I really like how the current system does it best to force everyone to view each other on equal grounds as much as possible.

Hang around longer, get to know ppl better and you'll figure out who are the ones with "reputations" (whether good or bad, your call). XD

Hopefully you'll find most people here to have a good reputation, this is a christian forum afterall. (Not that there aren't times when people don't agree on a subject or the occasional troll, just that it may be less than a more secular forum. I hope anyways.)

And I do think its up to oneself to discern whether or not someone is good than to have some program do it for you because sometimes the programs view of right and wrong maybe different than yours. (I doubt that, but it could happen.) And also it might create a sense of lazyness.
