CAA back up again!

Postby Straylight » Wed Mar 24, 2004 7:25 am

I'm happy to announce that after an epic mission involving a corrupt mysql database and a glitchy ftp server (trust me, it really was epic), i've managed to upload the new, upgraded version of CAA. As you will notice there have been a number of new hacks added, which I will leave you to discover for yourselves. The Arcade is probably worth checking out at the very least ^_^.

Unfortunately the server moves still have not taken place, and it could be a few weeks until this occurs, and until then, the forums will be left running. Apologies again for all the downtime that's been happening over the past couple of weeks.

A gallery system is also on the way, I'm about half way through coding that. It'll include individual galleries for each member, categories, and a comments system... till then enjoy the forums :)

I'm glad you got it back up and running again, even if it hasn't been moved to the server yet. Maybe I'll try to help out a little with saving on bandwidth by not posting too much until that happens.

Thanks for all the hard work. Im sure every one apreciates it.
Depend on it. God's work done in God's way will never lack God's supply. He is too wise a God to frustrate His purposes for lack of funds, and He can just as easily supply them ahead of time as afterwards, and He much prefers doing so.
- J. Hudson Taylor
I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?" "Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet. You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times." It was all true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach. He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.

Is it just me or does CAA load slower than usual? Oh well there is always the 'lite' version if it becomes a problem :)

Anyway I missed this place SOOO MUUCHH!!!!!!!

:waah!:
*sees site back up*
:eyebrow:
:o

 (what the... [notices that the glomp code has been changed to hug])

Anyway the arcade sounds awesome but I have school to do now and one of my Lenten sacrifices is not to play video games during school hours.

You know, its so funny... like the day CAA went down someone wanted to see some StarSheep pics so I'm like "well, the site I have em hosted on is down so I guess I'll have to show em to you tomorrow"... and then the next day [sunday] I was like "oh, well I guess I mis-read it. actually it said 'at the end of the weekend' so I guess that's tomorrow!" and then the next day it was monday, and it still wasn't up, and then the next day after that so I didnt post anything so as not to be embarassed  Actually yesterday I got pro-active and started updating the StarSheep page on my site so it has a convenient art gallery. Which still has bugs in it I'm afraid, but its not my fault its geocities' fault. I put the code on my desktop (without the things geocities puts in it) and it worked fine. Anyway its a minor problem so you can still see it here:

Must... set.... high...... score!

*TWITCH TWITCH*

*runs to get done with school

I am merely glad to have the CAA back! It felt odd not being able to check on it every once and a while to see what's up with everyone else at the site.

Yes it does, this is because of network slowdown in the datacenter where the server is located. Once the migration has happened the site should load a lot faster.

Straylight, I just want to thank you for your dedication and hard work. I think I can speak for everyone else when I say that we appreciate what you have done here.

I know you have a done a lot already.... So when I say the following statement, it is more of a thought for the next major change... I am looking in the arcade... Although I will be all over Tetris... I am wondering if you have Pong in your future plans.... (Of course, my taste may be antiquated on this thought.)

A question... and if this has already been answered, I apologize in advance. Is this meant to replace the "Art Corner" section? I am just wondering.

A little more feedback:

Its nice that you took out the 'edit' button on other people's posts.

One thing I dont like, though, is how clicking 'christian anime alliance' on the part of the screen where it shows what part of the forums you are currently browsing always takes you to the homepage. I liked being able to click that and get to the top of the forums.
