Just wondering....

I make really cool avatars, but only a few forums allow linking to the avatar option rather than storing locally.

Can this be done... if so it keeps from being restricted on file size, but we can still be subject to physical size if the rule is made that way.

what do you think?

Yup, this can be done.

Go into your user cp, and click the "Change Avatar" button under "Edit Options". You can enter the URL to your avatar in the space provided.

You can enter an URL of your avatar:
Note: this will be stored locally on the server

This does not enable me to just link... it actually stores on the server..

al link option has no size requirements, because links are only about 1k and the pic on my ftp server can be 365k and still look the same.

this link option will ad space to the server being used up by people who have to keep a copy because they don't have items saved elsewhere.

You're absolutely correct... the thing uploads avatars from the URL you enter. Why oh why does it do that?

I'll add sorting this out to my big long list.

I appriciate that .. I don't mean to make work for you, but I really enjoy impressive avatars. This is difficult when size restrictions apply.

by the way straylight does this site offer avatars for those paint or what ever program is not a gif or jpg or what ever i get it the right heigt but it dn't work with with the site
