The Dreaming is up!

Postby Uriah » Tue Jul 26, 2005 6:23 pm

My webcomic is finnally up! The url is http://www.thedreaming.kcome.net (my thanks to Mave for hosting.)
You all should check it out.

"In this world, every human being has a spark of power within them. Those that develop and explore this power are known as Dreamers. With concentration, they can do anything..."

The people in charge have suggested I put up a rating. I have given my comic a 16+, the content is as follows.

Violence: 7- Large amounts of blood, no gore.
Language: 1- Probably nothing worse than the D word.
Sexual Content: 2- Mild reference to sexual assault.
Nudity (or skimpy outfits):0- None.
Bad Religion: 0- None, People have the ability to create and alter things with their minds, but not in a offensive or religious manner.

It's looking good to me (I like solid and dark outlines/themes btw). I look forward to more!

Well, that is pretty positive after only a few pages. Nothing has really happened yet.

Well, you should take the compliment that we're interested and want to read further. Would you feel better if I said that your story is utter tripe which it is not? ;)

Very nice. I like the touch with calling the protagonist "Traum" (German for "dream")

Hm, we actually have introduced a second character now. I'll be interested to see what people think of her.

Hmmmm. I really like what I'm seeing so far. It seems like a very interesting setting and ideas - off course its hard to judge these few pages but I'm really interested in what you've got so far.

Edit: One negative comments (I feel it should be fair to include them - if I ever post a manga here then you can give me negative comments as well) is that the backgrounds aren't too interesting but since time is always a luxury and this is a volantary effort I can understand why. :)

So far so good - I can't wait for the next pages.

Read and liked it. Want to do something like this myself one day :) Can I ask for how long you've been painting?

I read it all just then, but very quickly.

A good effort Uriah! Even though some scenes may look like they can be drawn quickly, I know that to do the backgrounds properly and have everything as they should actually takes longer than it looks.

By the way, is the original on A3 and then scanned and shrunk? Or did you use another size / medium?

I'm pleased to see that this is managing to be regularly updated (note, I don't mean that to be derogatory to Uriah's uploading skills or memory; it is merely a comment about webmanga in general). It may not go so well after we finish the first chapter, of course...

I can put out about 3 pages a week.

Killua- been drawing about 3 years, I actually use manga pens which I started using about 6 months ago, the only thing I paint on so far is the correction ink (white).

Hm, I forgot to check last week. Now that 35 pages are up, people have a pretty general sense of how this story will operate, at least in regard to some elements. Once all forty pages are online, I'd be interested in the comments of those who have posted here so far.

Anyway, this is a very interesting, fascinating story so far. I like the several different references to mythology that seem to come in at different times. This is turning out to be very good! Keep up the good work!

Great job, guys. I just read the whole thing start to finish and it looks good. Considering the comments already made about the backgrounds, I'd like to say that the perspective is good in some of the city shots. It seems like the art has made an overall improvement in the last several pages, specifically anatomically. Some of the action panels are a bit hard to follow, but I do like the feel of them. I really enjoy the general impression I get from the story. It has an inspiring feel to it and I feel that the art and the story compliment each other. I hope to keep up with this. Well done.
