New Webmanga: Stick Monkey

Hey Everyone! Your friendly Neighborhood ChristianKitsune here!

I normally don't advertise for my own things like this...but I am doing this as a part "thank you" as well. XD

For about a year now, I have been trying to kick myself into gear to write a webmanga. I always promised myself. "Oh by the end of Summer 2006 I will do one!" That soon changed to "by Christmas!" and then "Summer of 2007!" And finally, after weeks of preperation on my part, both mentally, and artistically, I now feel confident enough to start. And start I have!

I have completed 4 pages (including the title page, and chapter one page) of The Stick Monkey Chronicles. And I am currently working on more pages for it.

This brings me to my thank you portion of this thread. I have been doing lots of research on comic hosting pages... I found a few sites, but their content and stuff made me wary. Which is why I owe a lot to Mave, UCP and Psycho Ann for allowing me to be a guest comic writer over at: http://www.theproject.us

This means a lot to me, you guys. It may not seem like a huge deal, but I was really worried about putting my comic on more secular sites.

I would also ask for prayer, everyone. That I will continue this project and never forget that it is because of the talents that God has given me that allow me to do this. I really feel this is a huge start for me, in achieving what I feel God wants me to do with my life. That is reach the youth of our country with positive comics. Although SMC isn't currently a blatant Christian Manga...I hope to have positive messages that will alude to my faith.

SMC Means a lot to me... its sort of based off my Senior year in high school. Many of the characters are based off of people I encountered, although their names have been changed. I once faced the same challene that Brendan faces in the beginning. I worked hard, and it did pay off. So It's sort of an encouragement to all of you who aspire to be comic artists, to never give up!

So it is with great humility, and happiness that I now show you the link to my comic. I hope that it will make you smile!

I also would like to add, that this is my first Webmanga... and there will probably be mistakes. I apologize for any...and I am working very hard to learn more. Right now, I don't know how to cell shade, and I don't intend to change my style. Thanks for understanding!

God Bless, Everyone!
-Kitchan

EDIT: I forgot to add that the this is intended for all ages. :3

I don't think I've actually commented on SMC yet... which is weird, since I've been following it so far. Sorry, CK. ^^;

I most certainly have been enjoying it so far. The story flows really nicely and I love the way you've done the conversations between characters - its believable yet interesting to follow, as well. Very nice work on the poses and expressions, too. I'm getting a better idea of Brendan's character, and I'm looking forward to seeing how he and Stickmonkey develop in future pages.

Keep it up, CK! You've done a fantastic job so far, and I'm looking forward to your future updates. :)

*O* Thanks for the lovely comment, CA!!! I really appreciate that!! I was a bit worried that my poses weren't good enough, and my expressions to stale...XD

You're welcome. Thanks for the compliment, but I'm afraid that UC deserves all the credit for the story. UC had the story in the works before we started on the comic, but I think we started working together in the early fall if I remember correctly.

I fear I've fallen behind on this; I really should catch up soon.

Fall is correct, though we didn't put up any pages until January. As far as the story, I only began thinking about it vaguely until Syreth sent me a PM about working together, after which I developed it quickly.

XD I was technically complimenting BOTH of you guys, Syreth ^_^;; sorry for being unclear, I think I had just woken up! :3

XD I have only been working on SMC the webcomic since late June when Mave actually told me I could post my work at the project, I felt more comfortable starting it. XD Stick Monkey the character, has actually been in my head since I was a sophomore, Brendan and his friends even longer than that. XD Actually Stick Monkey started off as a sweatshirt graphic for Brendan. Soon, he evolved into a High school Newspaper comic and then I decided to actually give him, and Brendan a story line :3

UC, how did you come up with Silva Mundus?

XDDD Thank you, Sakura! I finally started it! :3 Dang, it's good to see you again, Imotochan! :3 I missed ya!

Quite alright. Sorry for the misunderstanding on my part. ^^

You got the idea for SMC from people you know, right? In that sense, its very similar to Kardia, the other comic I work on. It's kinda cool when you get inspired by the people you know.

People I know, and experiences I have had. ^_^b
I need to read Kardia!!! D: *bows head* I am sorry that I haven't read it yet... I really want to read it though it looks interesting! :3

Yes it ish cool!
~~~
Thank you, Mr. Rogers! I am glad you read it! ^_^ It's a fun, light story, but I plan to add a little drama into it sometime >:3
Since my previous post I've caught up. It's a decent beginning, and the "papa fall down" line was pretty funny.
ChristianKitsune wrote:UC, how did you come up with Silva Mundus?
In reading the original Little Red Riding Hood and the many variations, I was struck by how it seems all the stories don't change the fundamental dynamic (girl vs wolf). So I decided it would be interesting to do just that. From there I created the world from the central idea of a deconstruction of fairy tales.
Awesome! Stick Monkey talks!
I had just assumed he'd be mute, but I think its cuter that he talks.
The latest update was great - I'm looking forward to seeing where you go from here.
Awesome. I'll be looking forward to it. ^^
Hmm... I've been meaning to put up a link to your site - but because of the size of your link image all I get is the words 'ad-img' and no picture. Would it be all right if I used some pictures from your art/DA site to make a link banner I could put up for SMC?
