Felix you need to post a different exerpt of your story or just mail me the file because I'm already on the edge of my seat for more =] I LOVE how you write dialogue between your characters. It's so quirky and fun.

Yeah! I loved the way you wrote that excerpt about the Captain. ^_^ Very quirky and fun writing, I agree. :grin:

And seriously, it's easier than you think to write. And you don't have to stress about reaching 50,000 too much; it's a goal, but even if you don't make it there, you've still had the chance to do a lot of writing. ^_^

Yay! Congrats on reaching 10,000! *throws confetti* I'm not sure where I'm up to... I wrote about 2,000 words yesterday to try to catch up, but I forget my word count. :grin:

<edit>9985?! Darn! So close! :lol:

Thanks Soph, And congrats! ^_^

Ahh, it's going kind of slow again, now. I'm just over 9,000. Hopefully I can hit the 10K mark by tonight. But if not, all well!

pshhhh so I slipped up just once and read your sn instead of thinking of your name *rolls eyes*

Now I'm off to read that new exerpt. And yeah, Marcus is just appearing in the story now (11k words in XD;; ). I'm having kind of a hard time portraying his character right now, but hopefully it'll work itself out.

Well good luck with that ^^/ I'm now at 9,792. So close to 10,000. I don't think I'll get to write any more tonight, though, tis quite late.
Well, best of luck to you all, I hope I can finally catch up tomorrow.

omigosh... my whole life just flashed before my eyes. I almost just saved over my entire story... I must have had the thing highlighted or something, because the screen went blank and I thought nothing of it as I went to save. Just as it brought up the "are you sure" box I thought, "you know, I better check to make sure it didn't delete". Thank goodness I checked, because it was all gone. Also thank goodness for the undo button!

so that's my almost horror story of the night. *wipes brow in relief*

Wow, that would stink.

And that, boys and girls, is why I always keep two files of my story, just in case.

:wow!: No way. That would've been so dang catastrophic. >_<""""" So glad you double-checked. Thanks to God for that! Sheesh it would've been terrible to have saved that error. I don't back up my stories... although come to think of it I've got the story saved in a separate txt file for uploading to verify the word count. Phew; so I have a backup then. ^_^

Thanks guys! Made it over that amount and then some today. I'm going to check out the dares thread and write a little more. I'm trying to word hard on this story so I can finish it early and put my time into other things. :grin: No problem if I don't; but I'm having fun with it so it's not a huge deal. Although I have to come back to it several times in a day; I can't write 2,000 words all in one chunk. :sweat: :lol:

All the best, Felix; and hope your stories are going well, everyone!

^-^ Also! I'm curious! So far, what's your main character like? What about the supporting characters and the plot? What character or scene has been the most enjoyable for you to write? :D You people are skimping on the details here!

*points and yells* HYPOCRISY! post yours too (^w^)

Let's see... my main character likes being in charge. More specifically she likes being in control. She's irritated by people around her doing things she deems stupid, and sometimes she's simply humored by those things. When she loses something she cared about, she's put in a bad mood immediately. First impressions are important to her, and if you blow it it's hard to get back on her good side. She can have a real firey tongue and when provoked her temper can be lengendary.

My other character, who's like the almost main character, also likes to be in control. He's manipulative, scheming, enjoys messing with people's heads (figuratively and literally - oh but you don't know what that means. sneaky sneaky me), is a very good actor, and is a convict on Earth.

The plot thus far will be about how much they don't get along. Of course, Marcus will have his own agenda going on in the background, and that will become the plot at the end. I'm just now getting into Scathe meeting Marcus (my gosh, I'm 15k in and I"m JUST introing my other main character) and although it's kinda harder to get a word count now, writing their dialogue is GREAT fun... *hugs them both* I'm going to have alot of time to spend with these two tomorrow at a write-in, so hopefully we'll get some exciting conversations/arguments in.

That sounds really cool, KNeko! ^^ And congrats, Dan! Hope you make it to 11k tonight, or get close to it! I'm sure you can do it; you rock!!

Gah; powercuts that last for hours do not help me to get my daily quota of words done. >_< Lol! But the power's back on now, so I'll be able to write the second half of the amount I need.
Hmm... I'll write a story synopsis, and you know what? I'll add it to the beginning of my story so it'll be part of the word count! :lol: Rofl! So sneaky.... *sigh* XD

Well, my story is about Alicia, my main character; she's a Chica (or 'winged girl'. In Spanish 'chica' just means plain old 'girl', but I like the fact that it sounds like 'chick' X) so I've used it to mean 'winged girl' in my story) who grew up (wingless -that's how the Chicas or Chicos start life... Chico being the masculine form of 'Chica', just so you know) in this stormy, rocky canyon type place. At this place... tentatively called 'Red Canyon' for the moment, dark, stormy clouds are always circling above, sort of like the eye of a hurricane. It's plagued frequently by storms of wind and rain, and the whole environment is harsh. There are a lot of kids/teens/young adults living there; they live in groups, almost like mini tribes, in caves in the cliff walls of the canyon.
But the thing is, though they start life as normal kids, these guys grow wings as they get older. And when they do, whenever a storm comes, they're in danger of being plucked into the sky because of their wings unless they manage to escape to the shelter of a cave before the wind strikes. Inevitably, though, they're bound to get caught out at some point; and in this way, Alli loses all of her friends, until it finally happens to her too.

From there, she ends up on a farm. The people here are gryphon farmers, and as she gets better she helps them out with chores and learns about the gryphons, etc. That's about where I'm up to now -and I'm about to introduce a new character: P.G (or Pierce Guinn). He's a Chico... but he can't fly (and he came from a place near the sea, not Red Canyon). His wings are actually penguin wings, and his hair is black with yellow bands across his temples... reflecting the colouring of a yellow-eyed penguin (love those penguins! X3 ). But he rides a gryphon, and once stayed on the same farm that Alli is currently on. He's a postman -delivering letters and parcels by air with the aid of his blue budgie gryphon, Budge. (Actually... I drew a picture of these two in the 'Original Character Design Competition' thingie for this month, if you want to take a look. :) )

Lots of things will happen after this... races, flying over the country delivering mail, meeting up with friends... but I'm not quite at that point yet.

The main character, Alli, was a bit of a tomboy but with a slightly more feminine side than tomboys. Basically has the usual personality of a girl who's been brought up around a lot of boys, or has had a lot of brothers. But after losing all her friends and struggling so hard, she's become more withdrawn and introvert. Though in the course of the story she'll develop courage, perserverance, and other good stuff like that. XP

Yes, sorry if that was pretty extensive! :lol: But you did ask for it, Kokoro! ;) Now I'd better get back to writing. :lol:

Yes! That would be fun!

X3 I like the sound of this!

And Photosoph - penguin boy is LOVE. I really want to read your story now! o.o

My main character Ferris is a run of the mill college student. He's not outstanding, doesn't have any particular passions, and his personality isn't interesting to make up for being average. He's the type of guy who gets tugged along in life and sort of goes with it, even if he might not necessarily like getting tugged along.

The powers that be felt the need to tug this poor guy out of his normalacy, and one day a package containing a homunculus egg is accidentally delivered to him. After getting attacked by the creature when it hatches, he gets kidnapped and finds himself detained at a courier service that specializes in delivering magical items and artifacts. At this point in the story, he's getting "acclimated" in his new surroundings, as the wizard's council has decided that he'll stay at the company's office until they figure out what to do with a human that has accidentally stumbled upon their secret magical society. (why is it that we both have mail services in out stories, Photosoph? xD)

My other main-ish characters include Kol Darcy, the manager and a dryad mage, my Keymaster, Aster, a half-faerie courier, and Ches (short for Cheshire Cat), a bake-neko. I've grown particularly fond of both Key and Kol - they both speak in very distinct manners, and writing their dialogue is quite entertaining.

At this point in the story I'm trying to develop a relationship between Ferris and the other characters, and I want this to be a sort of coming of age for him, where he finds something to believe in and be passionate about. Must write more. *zooms off to Word*

I love the sound of your story, Soph! ^_^ And from the excerpts I've read, it totally rocks! I must ask for the complete version when you finish it ^^;

And I did get to 11,144 last night, so, thanks for the encouragment! ^^

And thanks, Tee! Glad you liked it. Just ask whenever you'd like an updated version.

Ah gee, I don't have time I write up a thingy about mine at the moment. I will this evening after I finish homework though ^^;

Thanks guys. ^_^ I loved winged-character stories too. :grin: It's a story idea that's been floating around and been adding to etc for quite a while, so it's good to be writing it. ^_^
Hmm... guess I'll post it somewhere when I finish. Still not totally satisfied with the beginning, though. Maybe I'll edit the start sometime in the future. ...Sometime, but definitely not now. ^_^" Heh.

That sounds cool, Kokoro! I'd love to read it when you finish. Lol... guess mail service is just a far more interesting job that most people think -especially when you add a bit of fantasy to it ;) :grin:

Congrats, Felix! I'm glad you made it to (and past) 11,000! All the best with homework; good that you're prioritising. ^_^

Now back to writing before I get too distracted, eh? ^_^

oh, That looks really exciting KoDai. =] I'd read it now if I had a LJ... but I don't. <.<;

Did you all read your week 2 encouragement letters? I got a kick out of it. I also wrote like... all day today at a Panera since I didn't have school. I actually only got like 2500 some words done at Panera (which is sad cause I was there from 10:40 to 4:30 - You do the math for how fast I was going >.<). Now that I'm back home I'm writing some more. My goal for today is 3334 so I can make up for Saturday when I will have no oppotunity to write at all.
