My book, God Loves the Freaks, mentions anime! :)

I think you guys would like it. Since I started Fans for Christ, I have felt a call to reach out to the church and explain to them what us fans do -- watch anime, dress up in costume, etc. I am hoping to get them to look past the externals to our devotion to God and understand that watching anime, reading Harry Potter, dressing Goth, and stuff like that is not evil and is not wrong as a Christian. So I invite you to read God Loves the Freaks. There's an appendix in there on Christians watching Anime and has a link to this site! :)

God Loves the Freaks points to a serious issue facing the church today -- reaching out to subcultures and those who are considered the freaks of society. The "American Christianity" cult that many churches belong to accepts only members who dress, speak and act exactly the same way. We have somehow turned the church into an elite club where only those who follow man-made cultural rules are welcome. Why is it acceptable for someone to show up in church in traditional Chinese clothing, for instance, but not for someone to have a pink mohawk? The church tries to change the freaks of society, or worse, turns them away at the door. Jesus reached out to those in society who were different, who were outcast -- the freaks. Stephen Weese paints a vision of a church living by grace, in unity; without the legalism that divides and causes us to shun others based on outward appearance. God looks at the heart and he loves everyone, including the freaks. If God loves the freaks, shouldn't the church as well?

Thanks for letting me know about this:).
Have faith
-From somewhere in the Bible, and I agree with it

-God will only give you what you can take. He will not overwhelm you.
-From somewhere in the Bible

-Your faith becomes stronger when it's tested.
-I saw a Chinese guy with a cross on his restaurant desk in America. That's so cool. You can do that here. Not so much China.

I've recently been learning that I don't need to be "loud and pushy" to Evangelize; just living it out is enough witness. The problem was that I grew up around strong Evangelists (Korean Christians) and they were really into getting people involved and setting out to Evangelize, and me being a a yes-man (or yes woman) I was into trying to convert people.
I've been learning this lesson over the years, but have been trying to be pushy. Now I'm trying to ease off.

Ah, but is it wrong or not? For some Christians, it might be. It's not good to stereoype, especially on something like this.
