I watched My Neighbor Totoro for the umpteenth time over my little sisters' shoulders, and remembered again why it's such a great movie.

And just last night, I watched Barbie of Swan Lake. DO NOT LAUGH.
It was a reasonably good movie, though admittedly not as good as some of the later installments. My favorite Barbie movie is Magic of Pegasus; Princess and the Pauper and Rapunzel come close behind. 12 Dancing Princesses was pretty good too. Wonder what they'll do next....
I REPEAT, DO NOT LAUGH. BARBIE MOVIES ARE MUCH MUCH BETTER THAN THE NEWEST DISNEY MOVIES SUCH AS THE WILD OR CHICKEN LITTLE.
It was a reasonably good movie, though admittedly not as good as some of the later installments. My favorite Barbie movie is Magic of Pegasus; Princess and the Pauper and Rapunzel come close behind. 12 Dancing Princesses was pretty good too. Wonder what they'll do next....

Not counting Magic School Bus (*shakes fist at younger sisters*), I last watched Spirited Away...again. This time I watched it with a friend who had only seen from the train scene to the end before. Needless to say, she didn't understand it at all, and was most pleased to find out what it was about. She said, "Gross!" and "Aw, that's so cute!" many times throughout ^_^ I think she liked it.

I saw a bit of a silent movie version of Othello on Sunday.The problem is that with Shakespeare the real draw is the words and it isn't the same when you have to read them for yourself as it is when you hear the actors actually SAY them.

I saw the first minute of House of Flying Daggers on Spike yesterday.I would have watched more except that it was dubbed and I hate it when they dub live action movies like that.

I watched maybe half of The Last Samurai this morning, mainly because I've been learning about Japan in history. And when one is reading about samurai and bushido, one automatically thinks: THE LAST SAMURAI!!! Seriously, that's one of my favorite movies. I saw it before I got into anime, and it opened the door to Japanese culture for me. I think it's the only R-rated movie I've ever seen more than once.

I watched Pan's Labyrith.... It's a very well done movie, but I don't like it... Maybe it's because I know what the scene with the no eyes man really meant... Yeah... Being told the "church" is something waiting with treats to eat up innocent children just somehow doesn't fly with me...
That, and the general idea of evil fascist regime vs good communist regime... I mean, more Jews (not to mention Christians) were murdered under Stalin's atheistic communist regime than under Hitler's supposedly religious fascist regime...

I read an interpretation wherein the scene was supposed to be representative of the facists lving comfortable lives in exchange for their blind support to the ideals, though withering on the inside with blood on their hands. However, the director did come forward to say the Pale Man was representative of many faceless organizations "Like the Church," so...

Add "To End All Wars" to that list... It directly based on the same book that "Bridge over the River Kwai" was inspired by (Bridge is a fictionalized account, To End All Wars is a true story) Be prepared, it's much more brutal...

Saw a little bit of Jacka** The Movie on Comedy Central. I only liked the air horn golf and the pandas
Also I saw Harold And Kumar a couple days ago. It was extremely hilarious but also morally wrong, with sexual content, extreme drug use, and cussing.
