The Green Mile: Christian allegory?

I was wondering if anyone on this site has read The Green Mile by Stephen King. I think it's actually a Christian allegory. The character of John Coffey seems to be a "Christ figure", meaning he has qualities similar to those of Jesus. In his case, they are:
1. healing
2. Both John Coffey and Jesus Christ have the same initials.
3. Both are innocent beings unjustly condemned.
Am I reading too much into this?

No, I don't think it's a coincidence. Stephen King is a non-denomination theist whose feelings toward Christianity seems to shift constantly, but I would say The Green Mile is fairly neutral towards our faith for the most part. Though I wouldn't say it's a full-blown allegory the way the Chronicles of Narnia are. Rather I'd say it has Christian symbolism.

That said, I haven't read this in more than a decade and should maybe go read the book again.
