Conventional Wisdom

Postby Blitzkrieg1701 » Wed May 27, 2009 8:06 pm

I'm not sure how I forgot to mention this here before now, but I've got a little comic called Convtnional Wisdom that's about the random things that happen to me (and other people) at anime conventions. I started doing it on a whim after Otakon last year, but it's turned into the most popular thing I've ever drawn.

Anyway, I just did a big update covering Animazement last weekend, and I'd appreciate any feedback I could get.

This is the first time I realized those pictures in your signature are actually links to comics and not just a neon cigar next to a pithy saying about anime conventions. I can see why it's popular, though--just about everything in here is dead on with my own con experience.

Thanks, man.

Also, "Neon Cigar" would be a really cool band name. :D

Wahaha these are great! I read through all of them. I especially sympathize with the artist not selling things at their table. XD

Definitely enjoyed reading all those - great job on the sketches ^^

Snap - How many conventions have you been to? =o
Does it require a lot of travel + bills!?

Oh, we had a Guilmon at Detour! People kept photographing them for the scavenger hunt...but they were really good...
Those comics really apply to our con as well...Except we only had 3500 people this year in a fancy hotel. Surprisingly, nobody went through the windows on the 21/22nd floor (I can't remember...it was the gaming room with super-ginormous picture windows.). One of the early years somebody actually went through a window one year. Someone I talked to said that they knew them...I'm not too sure but I can say that I have NEVER broken anything.

Wow, I guess that's why most of the cons I'VE been to put things in rooms WITHOUT windows.

Lately, I've been averaging 4 cons a year. I'd like to do more (especially so that I can update this comic more often) but I'm straining my non-existent funds as it is. The cost and travel/room issues aren't that bad if you can gather up enough people to go with you... which has unfortunately turned into a problem for me lately :stressed:

One big enough to fit you, a portable DVD player, and candy.
On wheels.

Well, to whom it may concern, I've finally got room and travel arrangements for Otakon worked (mostly) out, so there'll definitely be a Conventional Wisdom update next month!
