What are you reading?

Almost through the first volume of The Vampire Diaries - I started reading it awhile back, but wound up taking a long break from it due to a busy schedule and other things being on my mind. Thankfully, I didn't lose my place!

Up to where I am now, I definitely plan on reading the other books in the series... I'm rather curious about how things are developing, and wonder just where the entire story's going to go.

The characters in the book look *nothing* like how they do on the show, either!

I just finished "The Institutes Of Christian Religion" by John Calvin, and also finished, "How Should We Then Live" by Francis Scheaffer.

I just started reading The Prince and the Pauper by Mark Twain. My roommate happened to have the book so I decided to give it a try. So far, I like it.

Finally finished Heroes of Olympus: The Lost Hero.

Oh. My. Gosh. It was so awesome.

Yes, even with the cover I hate to death, even with the dozen typos I spotted throughout the book, it is still awesome.

Yes, the new series is a worthy successor, and everything--what there is to lose, how many ways there are to lose it, the number of friends and enemies-- is bigger than ever.

If you read the first, you will not be disappointed with this. Go pick it up. Now. o_o

Just finished that Vampire Diaries book I was reading... Thinking I'll start up reading The Hardy Boys (original blue hardback) again. I'm gonna start from the beginning because I didn't get very far, and I don't remember much of what I read.

Also finally cracking down on finishing "The Host", since I've been reading it on and off for a few years now. XD

The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster. Classic.

Teachers are a Gift from God: felt obliged to read this book because it was a gift. Well, it did have quite a few apropos Bible verses, and those were good (because the Bible is always good), and there was also a nice prayer by St. Ignatius of Loyola, but pretty much everything else . . . I guess I had better stop there. It is, after all, the thought that counts.

Well, that was my light reading for this break, and now I'm returning to Kierkegaard, since I really didn't have time this past semester to read him with the concentration he deserves.

Finished Adventurers Wanted: Slathbog's Gold. I don't know what exactly t say about this one, I liked it, some aspects of the story were neat, but some of the others were kind of unoriginal. It reminded me of The Hobbit in some parts.

I recently finished the Immortal Instrument series by Cassandra Clare. It's a vibrant series that has a twist ending and keeps you terribly on edge. I couldn't put it down.

Started The Stolen Child- about a boy who's taken by hobgoblins and made into a changeling. Part of the story is from the changeling's POV, about he lives and adjusts to human society. The other is from the boy, and how he learns to live as a hobgoblin.

Just finished chapter one of Assassin's Apprentice. I'm pleasantly surprised, it's actually quite good so far. Like A Game of Thrones, but tolerably short. And even more surprisingly, I already don't mind the stupid names.
Keep it up, Ms. Hobb. Make me glad I read this thing, and I'll happily buy the second book.

Reading my friend's book Beyond the Dancing Flames. I hate to say it, but on technical merit and how good the story is, I'd only rate it a 3/5. I can point out a bunch of errors in logic with the characters and some issues with wording/spelling already, and I'm only on Chapter 3! Whoever her editor was, they were terrible.

I'm reading the Mobile Suit Gundam novel trilogy. It's...certainly different than the TV series.

Also getting ready to start reading The Belgariad, a five-book series by David Eddings. It comes highly recommended from a friend of mine.

I'm relieved to say that between personal libraries and electronic books, I have been able to continue reading here. Finally (finally!) finished Artemis Fowl: the Arctic Incident this afternoon. Found more stuff to nit-pick in this one (logic errors), much to my brother's chagrin. XD But I really liked the end. :3

I think the series needs more Artemis. Gonna start the third book soon~

You mean they both take place in the 'real world' (which I knew)? Or, do they both take place in the same version of the real world?

Uhhh.... Both. Both take place in the here-and-now real world, side-by-side with eachother.
