Watched Cross Game episodes 1-3. So far, I'm really liking it.
Whatever the season in life, the RIGHT attitude makes all the difference.

"I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth."
Psalm 121:1-2

"Though our paths may have diverged, you must continue to live out your life with all your might; you must never consider your own life to be something insignificant, and you must never forget about the friends whom you loved for as long as you live."
The Third Rule of Fairy Tail

Watched the last episode of Soredemo Machi wa Mawatteiru.

Man what the heck is up with putting random uber-sad episodes in comedy series. Really wasn't expecting that.

Still a surprisingly good series though, if you can get over the shrieky nature of Hotori's voice.

Yeah, I was expecting to drop SoreMachi pretty quickly, since I was expecting it to turn out like Natsu no Arashi. It actually turned out to be pretty enjoyable, at least as much as Arakawa Under the Bridge was.

Now, Amagami SS on the other hand is one of those shows where I step back and wonder why I watched 25 episodes of it. It did cause me to realize that I hate the omnibus format and I much preferred the overblown drama of kimikiss. At least then, it could pretend to have some semblance of depth or development. Racing through four episode arcs seems to make it really transparent that there's nothing there. And if you were wondering, it does tone down the weirdness from the opening arcs, but the later arcs (with the exception of Ayatsuji's) were pretty bland because the characters are pretty bland.

Winter season gets an early start!

From what I've heard Haiyoru Nyaru-ani has also started, but its predecessor was so terrible and unfunny that I didn't bother giving it another shot. From what I've heard, my decision was correct.

Now, Starry Sky. Based on the first episode, I'm going to say that it's going to be Amagami for girls, except the series is half as long and there are twice as many routes. Yes, that means that each Starry Sky route will be adapted to a quarter of the length of a route in Amagami (2 half-episodes vs. four episodes). Since I already watched the entirety of Amagami for whatever reason and was not impressed, normally, I'd pass after one episode of Starry Sky, but it's so short, I'm kind of tempted to ride the entire thing out.

Don't worry too much. She sounds a bit girly in the first few episodes, but in the later ones, you completely forget it's a girl voicing him.

So on to what I'm watching:

What I don't understand is in the original Japanese, both Ed and Al are voiced by women. Are Japanese women just better at sounding like little boys than American women or what?

In my opinion, female Japanese V/A's can do more with their voices in male roles than female American V/A's. However, there are some American's that can pull off a young boy's voice dang-near flawlessly]

Got jump-started back into anime with a Secret Santa anime swap on MAL. The recommendation I got? Angel Beats! Watched eps 1-5- mixes Buddhist philospohy with Christian philosophy somewhat awkwardly, and already has some pacing and writing issues. It's not Haruhi with Explosions, which is both a blessing and a curse, because a lot of what made Haruhi somewhat enjoyable was changed up or taken out. Right now I'd rate it a 5 out of 10.

Otome Youkai Zakuro wasn't amazing, but it did have a few things going for it, the biggest being set during the early Meiji Restoration era. It was kinda fun and the art direction was pretty shoujo. Of course, it started sucking as soon as it needed to wrap things up and, well, no one can ruin a decent series like Chiaki Kon.

Finished Angel Beats!, plus ep 13.5, plus the Special Episode.

This definitely has some issues with plot and pacing. The overall strory idea is a good one, but they went with too many plot threads and not enough follow-through. Rating? 5/10.

Watched Gundam Unicorn episodes 1 and 2 again today. It was even better the second time since I was able to take in more of the subtleties and subtext (of which there is a lot). I ♥ Banagher. (˘ω˘ )

Uh, I'm also on episode 11 of SEED now. ( ̄へ ̄)

Shiki -- Complete. Thoughts -- that was somewhat disturbing...but I did like the dilemmas presented on right and wrong. :)

This was awesome:
"This isn't enough to kill us."
Natsuno: *pulls out stick of dynamite*

Natsuno wasn't in it enough, but that's really my biggest gripe.
Starry Night ep. 1 -- watched the first episode for kicks, and I'm not sure what to make of it. Because it was really cheesy in a melodramatic, embarrassing way, but it could also be somewhat entertaining and sweet. Maybe. If I continue to not have much to do I might stick with it. (There goes my resolution of not watching more than I can keep up with...)

So I watched all of Card Captor Sakura and the second movie, really, out of some sort of obligation to check it out because of its influence on its genre (magical girl). I was expecting to find it decent and interesting, but not much beyond that. I think it was around the switch the the second OP that it really took off for me and I got really into it. One thing I found unexpected was how prominent Syaoran and Sakura's relationship was in the story. Anyway, really legitimately good if you enjoy magical girl shows.

Finished Shiki; the manga is better and more fleshed out.

Dropped Starry Sky. I'm comparing it to Amagami because it's the closest analogue I have. The complaint with Amagami is that it's fairly shallow and the girls really are just archetypes. The same can be said of Starry Sky, except that the girls in Amagami at least have some kind of personality or trait that makes them distinguishable. Starry Sky's anime arcs are so short that no one has any discernable personality or any time to develop one beyond being a generic bishounen with different hair colour.

Finished off 2010 anime.

Arakawa Under the Bridge has been interesting because even though it's entertaining and funny, I feel like it's missing something. I can't say what it is, but it kind of bugs me.

Kuragehime was a really solid show that, from what I've heard, lied outside of everyone's normal watches and surprised the heck out of everyone. I'm not sure what to think about the conclusion of the show, though.

Macross F: The False Songstress was my last anime of 2010 and it was a lot more interesting than I expected it to be. It is a sort of remake of the first part of Macross F, but I think that it's not as much of a summary as, say, Gurren Lagann: Gurren-hen. There are some tweaks to character roles and what they know at points in time. Also, redone battle and concert scenes were pretty great.

i'm only a few episodes into it atm, but so far i've quite enjoyed it. the story line is quite interesting. yomas are monsters that prey on humans. basically claymores which are hybrids of yomas and humans. claymores are assigned to protect humans. wikipedia has a good article with more story information, but i don't want to spoil it for you. it is a bit graphic though (yomas feed on the entrails of living victims), so i wouldn't watch it with the young children in my family. the music is pretty and the art is nice, lots of detail. i watch all of my anime in japanese so i'm not sure what the english dub is like : )
