Anyway, I will start reading the manga, as I think it's over 20 volumes and might go a different direction. But I will still love this anime, and now I got voices to hear when I read it!

Ooh, the manga's good too, and very different... In ways =P I haven't finished it myself, though, so I don't know how much it branches off.

Jyu-Oh-Sei (Eps 1-7) Hm. On one hand, I love this series, and it's very interesting to watch. On the other hand, I'll probably forget about it pretty quickly, and it's more fun to watch than remember. We all know we love Third, so I don't need to comment on that... Thor is about to drive me crazy, though. ELEVEN?! And then FIFTEEN?! He fools no one, I don't care if his aging is different, it's just... weird. Also, I [spoiler]REFUSE to believe Rai is dead. I'm sorry, I just don't... buy that sort of death. Even if the series ends and he hasn't come back yet, I still won't be convinced =P [/spoiler]

Whisper of the Heart is soooo sweet! I'm glad you liked it so much! I think it's probably my favorite Studio Ghibli film, and I'm a fanatic.

As for The Girl Who Leapt Through Time...I loved that movie. And I really liked the ending. Although it wasn't traditional, it had a traditional sweetness to it, I think - not really all that far different from Whisper of the Heart, really.

[spoiler]Actually, more like I ragequit Macross with like 8 episodes to go, because it keeps going after the big climax and becomes lame and infuriating. I hate that they're all like "and then Hikaru and Misa got together...oh wait no they didn't...oh wait yeah they did...wait...maybe not...we don't know". :I FORGET ABOUT MINMAY ALREADYYYYYYY. The stuff with the Zentradi freaking out and revolting is realistic enough but I coulda done without all the Minmay-related backpedaling.[/spoiler]

Other than that I thought it was a pretty decent show.

About The Girl Who Leapt Through Time-- I know that Whisper also has a sort-of open ending, but I guess the thing there is that [spoiler]Seiji proposed, and really it's about as certain as you can get without actually showing it that he and Shizuku are going to get married. Whereas in TGWLTT, the whole thing with Chiaki's implied restrictions and such on his time-leaping are a little concerning. I know, I know]

Um, I did know that. [spoiler]It's actually the walnut-looking things that refill the jumps, but he didn't have any other extra ones with him aside from the one Makoto had used. So at the end he did use his last remaining jump to return to his own time-- he had clearly gone-- but then he came back to give her that little hug and tell her that he'd wait for her in the future. [spoiler]Well, she turns around and it goes to her POV, where there was clearly no one in sight, and there really wasn't anywhere he could hide that fast without her at least seeing something move. So he had to have either time-leaped or have been trained as a ninja.

As for his people-- ack, I really could have sworn when he was telling her about them that he said they'd found a way to do that. Was he really just saying that his people had found a way that anyone *could* time-travel but he was the only one to have actually been using the tech to do so? (It didn't seem that way to me when I watched it, but on second thought that would be a reason why his government would be watching him.) Though I just thought of something-- if the 'walnut' was a prototype, it couldn't have been the only thing that allowed time-travel, because he had available time leaps before it was used. That was just supposed to be his 'refill'. So, he had to have originally gotten his leaps from either another 'walnut' or something else back in his time. (*Sigh*... see, this is what I meant about not having enough explanation...! )[/spoiler]

Yeah, I thought the "extra" episodes (it was originally supposed to air 26 episodes but was so popular, they got to make more) kind of blunted the momentum of the series, though I was pulling so hard for him to end up w/ Misa.

Love triangle aside, did you think the storyline was original/interesting? I thought the [spoiler]protoculture[/spoiler]concept was cool and implemented quite well.

So I just started on Ghost Hunt. Been looking for a good anime in the supernatural genre (I LOVE scary stuff!). I watched the first 3 episodes. How I discovered it is I read a review on my friend's blog, and it sounded cool enough. Then I checked out the dub voice cast and was like "No way!!! Practically all the main characters are voiced by my favorites!!!" (except the medium, she has a nice voice, but I have not heard her before that I know of. Perhaps she'll become a new fave). And Jason Liebrecht.....with an Austraillian accent? XD!!! That was so awesome, I was NOT expecting that! He's pretty good at it, too! This counts as the fourth role I have seen him in. Also, Todd Haberkorn is in it!! And Caitlin Glass! And Colleen Clinkenbeard! And Travis Willingham! And I better stop blabbering now...

As far as the show is concerned, it's quite interesting, but I didn't find myself hooked or extremely pulled in. However, it may be one of those series where the first few episodes are so-so, but then it gets really good! So I will not judge it by the first few, and I will gladly finish it. I am curious as to how these characters will develope and how the story will progress. Whether or not it'll be a series I can watch over and over again will be determined when I finish it. Sure, I may not have instantly fell in love with it like I did with Tsubasa Chronicles, Fullmetal Alchemist, or Black Cat, but it appears to be a series that might actually be better the second time around (like Angelic Layer was for me).

My big problem with the dub is that (and I don't know if this is just true on my dvds and there's something wrong with them) is that Kazuya's voice is just far too quiet. I have to turn up the volume an incredible amount to just be able to understand what he's saying, but all the other voices/sounds/whatever are hurting my ears and too loud for the apartment.

But as mediocre as I found it on the first watching, it really does get better as you go on (the last two arcs were just.... wow.) and does have high rewatch value.

After this, I went back to yet another recommendation from my friend, the series Scrapped Princess (sub). And I loved it! Great characters, great humor, some good emotion, and the clever sleight-of-hand with its actual genre (!) -- how could I not? [spoiler]And yes, I know, there's actually a truly unfulfilled romance in this one, but for some weird reason that didn't bother me like the end of TGWLTT did. I mean, it was very sad, and it would have been awesome had that one character avoided death, but in the context of SP's story it didn't dampen my enjoyment of the series as a whole. I don't really know why-- guess it just depends on the circumstances...??[/spoiler]
Next up, Trigun (sub and then dub, but overall I personally preferred the sub)-- well, I just had to, as it seems that everyone who's ever watched anime has either seen this or will see it at some point! But after watching it myself, I agree that it does indeed deserve its classic status. The humor is great, the music is great, the characters are just awesome, and I really like the fact that the series also actually has an unexpected, deep moral/philosophical core. Loved it!

Then I tried out Fantastic Children (sub). This... well, it was different. You have very little idea of what is going on for about the first 6 or 7 episodes, but while that made them almost frustratingly slow at times, that was actually the point and the story did eventually come together as the series went on (the explanation floodgates opening around halfway through the series, at which point it also starts getting fairly intense). Don't know whether I'll watch FC again, but it was worth a watch once.

Most recently, after reading the absolutely excellent Death Note manga and (upon hearing that the anime series had a fantastic score, which it most certainly does! ) listening to the series' 3 also-excellent OST's, I finally watched the (subbed) anime of it as well. And, well... I'll say this: The music (as I mentioned) is awesome; and the animation is beautifully done, including some excellent uses of dynamic 'camera' shots, 3D movements, and etc. at appropriate times. And minus a scant couple of rather-humorously OTT moments and one small bit cut out of the "deduction skills test" scene in the restaurant (I assume for time), the first 24 episodes are quite literally just about as perfect an adaptation as possible. So, to that point, I definitely loved it.

...But then came episode 25-- where, for some strange reason, they decided to invent some filler that starts out as decent symbolic foreshadowing but then ends up just plain creepy/weird (and, as I suspect, simply a bit of bait thrown to a certain subset of fans... *cough* ). Plus, [spoiler]a certain death scene wasn't quite perfect, either-- not to say it was bad (indeed, both visually and musically it was quite properly dramatic), but in the manga there was a lot more drama beforehand with the questioning of Rem about the notebook's rules and several characters' thought-dialogues leading right up to the death (which I would obviously have much rather seen instead of that aforementioned weird invented sequence ), and they also left out the character's dying thought, which I think to me made it just a little bit more emotional in the manga rather than just having the character give a silent stare like they did in the anime.[/spoiler] Also, what was actually the latter half of the manga series is in the anime compressed quite a bit (going by the manga, what should have been the halfway point or so of the TV series ends up happening about 2/3 into it instead), so a lot of events, background info, details, and nuance ended up being removed from this last 1/3... and at the same time they also started revealing some stuff in its chronological order when it should only have been learned in flashback like the manga to heighten the surprises. (And one more nitpick-- I also don't like the voice of Near! I mean, I know full well that female VA's quite often voice boys, and indeed I've heard some very good ones. But, unfortunately, this one sounded WAY too girly. ) ...All of which was obviously not ideal! So, in all, I wish they could have done two full seasons rather than one-and-a-bit, as (like I said) almost the entire first season was excellent, while the latter 12 or so ep.'s were not so much. Thus, I'd recommend it, but-- past ep. 24, at any rate-- really just to those who've already read the manga.

GOSICK 2-3- As I mentioned on another site I'm on, watching this for the mysteries would be going about it wrong. Those are secondary to the character development/relationships, more of a vehicle for them than a plot point in themselves. But I still love it.

And I finished Lovely Complex! Wow, I really loved this series. This is now the second shoujo series I've loved to death, whereas usually I can't stand them. It was just such a wonderful story of friendship before romance. I loved that. And the ending.... Man, it's made me unutterably happy ever since I stayed up till 2 a.m. to get there ^________^

I have finally, FINALLY got to watch some Code Geass R2 with my sister. Rushed through all seven episodes available to me. I already know what'll happen from the manga and infinite spoilers, but... so different actually seeing the real way things happened XD Different order and everything o.e And, I love it, just like I loved the first season. I also remain loyal to Lelouch, and I think his haters are misunderstanding something(s)
