Technically, they aren't allowed to say that they ship until that date, but it's fairly common practice with DVDs. I've gotten many of mine day- sometimes weeks before they're technically supposed to ship out.

Oh ok. I will most likely have to wait till Monday to get mine. Amazon doesn't usually ship pre-orders till the weekend before they come out. so it will most likely ship Sunday and I will get it Monday. Even though I get it later than others who bought it online I still paid a lot less.

Lots to update on what I've watched....

First episode of Kanon. Okay...this is a series I've been wanting to watch 'cause it sounded interesting and has really cute art. However, the first episode was....kinda boring. Maybe it'll pick up later, so I'll probably continue a little more before officially judging it. Also some of the girls' eyes arer so big....it kinda irritates me. I mean big eyes are usually really cute, but in some of the girls' designs, it's just....a bit much....

Also watched the first episode of Kaze no Stigma. I think it's a keeper! Looks pretty cool so far. I don't know, I just LOVE stuff that deals with wielding the elements, and I'm curious to how the series will unfold!

And watched episodes 7-10 of Avatar The Last Airbender: Book 2, Earth. Very engaging, as usual, and full of humor! I loved the episode "Zuko Alone" which had flashbacks of his childhood! I just love episodes that deals with charries' pasts so you learn more about them, and I've been wanting to see Zuko's past. This episode was amazing, well-written, and even emotional!

Dad has now wanted to resume Fullmetal Alchemist, so I showed him episodes 12-15. I never get sick of this series; brilliant story, beautiful animation, loveable characters! He seemed to laugh alot during my fave episode "Fullmetal vs. Flame" let's be honest, it's hard NOT to laugh when watching it! Filler, yes, but GOOD filler!

Trigun episodes 19-22. I keep on expecting the next episode to be the Wolfwood episode, but I guess not. Is that the second-to-last one or something? Anyway, I'd forgotten how quickly they go through the Gung-Ho Guns in the rushed anime.

And I started watching Monster! :thumb: I've already read the manga - and loved it - so I was very interested to see how they'd adapt it. I've only seen the first two episodes so far, but it seems to be a very faithful, good quality adaptation. My only complaints are that I don't agree with Eva's hair color (>_< the shading in the manga makes it look brown!), and it's very weird to see all these German characters speaking Japanese, including all the -kuns and -sans that go along with it. It was a lot easier to imagine them actually speaking German when it was just text, I suppose.

One thing I did really like, that I think they can do better in an anime than a manga, is the part where Tenma
says aloud that the higher-ups of the hospital who demoted him because he didn't operate on the mayor should die
and then Johan opens his eyes though he was supposed to be asleep. The sound effect was so creepy it sent shivers down my spine! Perfect effect. I also really like Nina's little, "Koro...shite...." The ending theme is awful, but the opening is very fitting.

Stick with it. You get used to the character designs, and the first episode is really boring. I don't think I started liking it until the third or so episode.

Brigadoon - Dropped.

I dropped this one due to the frequency and severity of the fan service involving the prepubescent female lead. Pity too, because the story had real promise. There was a 4-5 episode run in which no fanservice was present, and I thought, "Great, it's over." Wrong. City. There was the bathhouse episode, and then IT ACTUALLY GOT WORSE in the proceeding episodes.

Ah well, got a pile of other DVDs to get through anyway.

As for me, I finished Jyu Oh Sei. It was surprisingly good, and while it's very subtle and even forgettable, it really was perfect somehow. The end didn't quite have a point, yet it didn't need one, and it had enough surprises in eleven episodes to keep things interesting. Honestly, I LOVED it.
RIP, Third T_T His shocking revelation was actually one of the best things... I found that I actually liked him more after that. And Earth was destroyed! Somehow this fit the plot perfectly, even though it was really sad. The end was depressing, but yet again, perfect...
Jyu-Oh-Sei really is the perfect little package...I love it so much. It's slightly cheesy, but in a sense that makes it even more perfect.
And yes, I agree with you about Third. I was convinced 'til the end the second white-haired dude in the credits was Thor's brother having not died. But, it really worked with Third. I think he is my favorite character in that.
Just started re-watching Cowboy Bebop from the start (I know I must be the only anime fan around to have never fully seen it!), and apart from the fanservice-y bits it's actually pretty good!

Even though it seems mostly situational per episode, there seems to be a pretty good underlying story with Spike & couple other characters I've seen so far, as well as some interesting themes and little symbols about the place too!

Hope the ending is decent!

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya episodes 1-14 Complete

So Haruhi is actually a pretty great show. It made me laugh, it made me go "That's awesome!", it made me enjoy the characters, sometimes it did all three at once(The Day of Sagittarius), and ultimately, it ended up being a really fun show. Yuki is awesome, but the rest of the characters, even Haruhi, are pretty great too. When it did parody, it did it really well, again, The Day of Sagittarius's complete spoof on anime space operas, or the part where they parody RPGs. The whole thing ended up being a really fun watch. 9/10 for sure.

Jyu-Oh-Sei episodes 1-11 Complete.

This next anime is not the shining example of how to do stuff. While the idea wasn't all that bad, the whole thing turned into a pretty huge steaming mess by the end. When I was watching it with TheSubtleDoctor, I made a pretty big deal out of how the main character basically has a lightsaber and he's fighting a dude with a regular sword made out of iron, and it's supposed to be this huge underdog thing for him, and I was mad that he didn't just cut the dude's sword in half.

This ultimately ended up being one of my tiniest gripes with the show.
Rai, Thor's brother, really doesn't make any actual impact on the plot, I was so sure he wasn't dead because he had to be of some use to the plot, but, after a couple episodes of "My brother is dead," Thor pretty much forgets about him. I'm not saying I wanted Thor to cry over him the entire time, but if the dude's going to be in there, at least let there be a reason for him being in there.

Secondly, Karim was pretty much the most convoluted thing ever. Thor has a loving, caring girlfriend who would do anything for him, and he immediately cheats on her for some chick he met ten minutes ago, and tried to kill him? Not only that, when she dies, her death is enough to send Thor into a rage to kill Jagi, but Jagi killing one of his best friends and slaughtering large groups of people was just cool with Thor, who had pretty much no reaction to it?

Thirdly, the soldiers(and the Third) who just allowed the whole reshaping of Chimaera to begin with suddenly decide to help Thor stop it? Why? They just go along with him, and act as cannon fodder.

Then, the ending basically kills off a bunch of people because it can. Why did Tiz die? Because. Why did the Third die? Because. Seriously, both deaths had no effect on the end plot aside from Thor naming some random girl after Tiz. And what the crap even happened to Jagi? He just kind of was down there when Tiz died, then just never showed up again. Was he in the ending solely so Tiz could get shot?
So basically it's an awful anime none of you should watch. 3/10 for production values and the ED only.

Is the fanservice in it an issue? I read the CAA review & kinda got the impression it might be a bit bad for that reason, but it seems like a fun show from reading...

Mazinkaizer - What I learned: Dr. Hell plays a pipe organ, Baron Ashura showers with his hood on and Go Nagai can't help himself with unnecessary fanservice. Not as good as Shin Mazinger, I think I am done with this path.

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya season 2 - Watched 1,2,9.....
Tried to watch this as it aired and gave up on the "Endless Eight" about 4 episodes in. Trying again by skipping it save for the first and last episode in the arc, this is a good method. I am glad I came back it is such a great show.

But JOS wasn't trying to be a B-movie. I love Doctor Who, and it is often one of the cheesiest things I've ever seen, but that's the charm of it. JOS tried to have a plot that made sense and was epic and all that, and it really ended up falling on its face. Nothing Thor does after a while really makes sense after a while, the characters that were likable died without any contribution to the plot, it was just a huge mess.

Eh, depends on how sensitive you are to it. There's no nudity, but there are several time when Haruhi and Mikuru are in bunny suits, and Haruhi gropes Mikuru at one point, so if you can handle that, you'll be fine.

If you think that's bad, don't watch any of the other Go Nagai "remake" OAVs! ALL of his stuff is like that and Mazinkaizer is actually pretty tame compared to the others. I'm actually...not a big Go Nagai fan, to tell you the truth.

Actually, alot.

I saw a few episodes of Kanon, the first two episodes of Sands of Destruction on AnimeNewsNetwork, season two of Yu-Gi-Oh GX on Toonzaki, along with some episodes of Magic Knight Rayearth, some Heroic Age on Hulu, and finally, Kekkaishi on Ault Swim.

Hm...point. I don't particularly remember what parts were a mess, though I believe it all the same. . . maybe I enjoyed it more because I had such incredibly low expectations (I found the series for $3)...

Though I do see where you're coming from. *is feeling same thing toward Asura Cryin'* Still sad you didn't enjoy it! xD But to each their own.

and go Doctor Who!

Just watched Bleach 308. Woot. Yes, it's still fun. I love the characters so much, even if it's really "what's plot?" Heehee.

On a funny note: A friend got me an Ichigo keychain that I keep on my purse, and one of the little girls at church asked me at lunch "is that a princess?" xD So Bleach = "my princess show" in my mind now. . .

Also watched/half-watched: Bakuman, Asura Cryin', Kore wa Zombie Desu ka?, Fractale, Level E and Letter Bee in the past few days.

Asura Cryin' -- only makes an iota of sense of purpose when I'm half-paying attention.
Bakuman -- informative, I like (Takagi?), but otherwise is rather dull. Probably won't watch second season.
Zombie -- It would be so much funnier if it weren't so crude, but is still pretty hilarious. Glad it's a short season though...
Fractale: -- I officially really like! Went from "blah who cares" to "Oooh!!! Intriguing, cool!"
Level E -- these gags are going to get old soon...
Letter Bee -- charming as always. =)
