Watched Evangellion 2.22 last night... umm... wow. They changed it a lot. 1.11 was pretty much in line with the series. This one they had a lot of new scenes and even a new major character and some events from the series were still there but altered a lot. At the end, it seemed like it was already starting to go all End of Eva which was kind of surprising since this was only the second one out of 4.

Anyway, I really like the artwork and I like how it seems to know what direction its going in a little better than the series which seemed to make less sense as it went. Anyway, the only thing I don't like about it is that key events were a lot more epic in the show. Here its kind of shortened and rushed and it's not having the same effect but I guess thats to be expected when they cram most of the series into two movies. Interested in seeing how the next two are but I'll probably have to wait another year or two. Overall, I think I'm liking the movies better aside from the second half of this one where one of my favorite parts from the series was altered quite a bit, rushed, and didn't feel nearly as shocking or disturbing or have close to the same impact it had in the series. But other than that I like the movies better just cause it doesn't seem as convoluted.

I feel like I'm catching up to the rest of the anime fans, and am watching a bunch of shows that have already ended but I feel like everyone else has seen. Some are shows like Death Note. Others....
TheSubtleDoctor (post: 1469351) wrote:The less said about Fractale, the better.
This. Anyway, the main shows I'm watching right now are actually Naruto:Shippuuden and Bleach. Seriously. I'm so far behind on both that Narutotachi are battling it out with crystal-style users, and Ichigotachi have just landed in Soul Society on a mission involving some people called Bounts. I hope to catch up in both shows before I'm 60.

I will also try out some shows that are new this season, C and Sket Dance seeming the most likely to be my type of thing amongst the bunch.

EDIT: I forgot to [s]confess[/s] mention that I just saw the second episode of Tetsuko no Tabi. I ... find it kind of ... interesting. I think I'll watch episode 3 also. :o

Funimation has all of Baccano! on their Youtube channel, so there you go.

Also, just finished Library Wars six, which continues to be pretty good. I like how they've kept Tezuka's personality about the same without keeping him being a jerk, and Kasahara continues to be a fun lead. Komaki, Dojo, and Genda are also pretty good.

Dr Subtle will be glad with my choice of shows...For I am watching "Cross Game."

I've completed the manga, but it's just too good to pass up the anime...Which from what I know follows the manga really closely.

Just finished watching The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya movie, and I watched the ten available episode of Puella Magi Madoka Magica...what a happy series of friendship, togetherness, and how magic makes the world a better place! *coughsarcasmcough*

LOL, Sapphire! xD

Finished Fractale, Dragon Crisis and Star Driver recently.

Fractale was awful...it tried ever so hard and failed in the end. I did like Nessa and Sunda--and even Dias (at least he remained consistent). But otherwise I saw no real reason to care.

Dragon Crisis -- should not have been nearly as much fun as it was. If it had been longer than 12 episodes, it would have gotten irritating. But I seriously loved it.

Star Driver did not disappoint! I enjoyed it through and through. =)

Soul Eater I got up to about episode 7 I think. I couldn't seem to get into it :/

Hopefully next week I can get back to watching more consistently.

Digital Juice

This is an interesting collection of animated shorts by Studio 4 Degrees Celsius. If anyone has seen Sweat Punch, I'm guessing Digital Juice is pretty similar. Mostly entertaining, kind of disturbing, always strange, this set is an interesting watch for someone who wants to spend twenty minutes looking at quality animation but doesn't feel like investing in a several-episode-spanning story. Since this is a 2002 production, however, some of the CGI looks a bit dated.

Digimon Adventure Movie: Our War Game

Definitely deserves its billing as a sort of proto-Summer Wars. Hosada tries out the initial versions of some of his ideas for this plot: data-eating monster, fist fights in the internet, we need all our friends to lend their powah! The Digimon film doesn't feature complex characterization, a digital realm nearly as fleshed-out as OZ, or the family togetherness theme. Instead, theme-wise, it emphasizes the need for connectedness in general and also the goals that can be achieved through a united effort. The decade-plus old animation holds up quite well, IMO. Also: this ain't OZ; it's is the net from the late 90s (ISDN! satelite phones!), so computer historians: salivate. An entertaining little flick and a chance to see the seeds of Summer Wars sprout their first shoots.

Monster episode 11 - DIETER!!!!! I like that kid ^_^

FMA episodes 11-17 - My sisters are loving it, which makes me love it all the more. I just saw the "I wanted to ask you something, but I was too scared" scene, and it was so strange to see my sisters blithely giggling when Armstrong bursts in, because that conversation leads to one of my favorite, most dramatic parts of the story.

Library Wars - episodes 1-12 Complete

Library Wars was probably more enjoyable that it deserves. There are definitely a couple of problems, but the overall product was so enjoyable that I didn't really care about those. It was on the cusp of greatness, it's fingertips touching that score of 9/10, but then it remembered how short Dojo is and couldn't quite make it.

As opposed to shows that could have been good but ultimately were worse because of their unfulfilled potential(Jyu-Oh-Sei, I'd like to have some words with you), however, Library Wars got a 9/10 enjoyment out of me. I loved pretty much every episode except ten, and I really enjoyed all their characters. Komaki is someone I can get because I think he's kind of like me in a lot of ways, learning to be easily amused by people(he is much less of a pansy than I am, though). Tezuka managed to go from grumpy to likable without either a dramatic change ala Naruto or just switching personalities. Shibasaki seemed pretty jerkish at first too, but then you get to know her and it turns out she's pretty cool. Genda was a fun guy from the beginning.

Our leads, however, are where it really shines. Despite having a lot of scenes to make it obvious they're falling in love, Kasahara and Dojo felt really natural with each other. Dojo is a tsundere, I guess, but he isn't really. I really enjoyed watching them develop respect for each other as they worked together, and it made their eventual love feel a lot more natural than a few dramatic moments then they make out. I also like that whoever wrote this made them pretty similar, because I think people who really fall in love are a lot in common.

Production was top notch, and I am definitely more interested in watching some Production IG stuff after this. The action scenes were fun, and I'm impressed with whoever this director is. Along with Giant Robo, this is a show that's making me pay attention to the camera in an anime. Music was pretty cool too.

So, definitely worth your time. It would be 8/10 is I gave 8's, but 7/10 is what it's going to end up getting. My enjoyment for the show was a 9/10, however, and I'm definitely buying this when it eventually gets licensed.

Still working through Baccano!-- finished episode 6. I'm looking forward to watching Tiger & Bunny episode 2 tonight.

I also just watched the first episode of Casshern Sins. I really liked the background art, which was grimly beautiful, and I liked the character design for Casshern at least. Aside from that, I feel like it's too early to tell anything about it. Has anyone seen this series? Is it worth watching?

A friend gave me Angel Beats abd I say I actually did quite like it even though I found a few things ehh.. Don't really know how to put it but I wonder if anyone else here has seen it and their thoughts? Its only like a half season anime, 12 eps.

Well guess onto next anime whichever it may be

I have seen Evangelion You Can (Not) Advance 2.22 recently. I thought it was very good. Whether it is better than the series. I'm mixed on that. I think the series does character development and interaction better. Since, they have more time to do it. I also miss certain music.

But, the movies have such high production values. You also have to include End of Evangelion for high production value.

This movie definitely deviates from the series. And, that is what Anno wants. Wasn't the word "break" used as an emphasis? One of my favourite characters, Asuka is changed quite dramatically. Not just her last name. She's still awesome. But, it seems like they really changed her role.

I thought the new character, Mari was pretty cool and interesting. However, I kinda feel like she does steal screen time from Asuka. Maybe, it's just me being biased?

I'm glad they still did have some tributes to the original series. Especially, when it came to humour.

And, I am very interested in Evangelion 3.0 "Quickening". IIRC, that is the key word they use for this one.

Been a while since I posted here...

Haruhi Suzumiya season 2 - Not bad if you take out Endless Eight, I suggest you watch the first and last episode of that and you still get the point.

The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya - Awesome! Don't recommend it if you haven't seen the previous two seasons though. It has a lot of character development and change for the series in it.

Legend of the Galactic Heroes - Still plugging away at this, on episode 100 of 110. Still a great epic space opera with a lot of great characters in it. You know what? Characters change and die and fall into obscurity...just like life. If your life was about dramatic space battles and politics.

Tales of Earthsea - WHAT IS THIS? I DON'T EVEN

Tiger and Bunny ep 1-2 - Thanks to a FB post by LadyRushia, I am now hooked. Picture american style superheroes on a japanese game show setting.

Watched Tales of Earthsea over the weekend. It was incredibly boring. The animation was pretty but the story was dull and I have noticed how Hayao Miyazaki uses pretty much the same 4 or 5 characters in every movie and it seems that his son is no different.

I'm currently watching Magica Madoka.
It's not just a typical magical girl show. It is really dark and full of drama.
For some reason, i'm really hooked into it.
Now, I'm just waiting for new episodes to air soon.
