So I finished up some shows.

Nichijou is probably my favorite comedy and a must-watch for people who want to see the female version of me wrestle with a goat.

Hanasaku Iroha was a pretty good show. I lament that I kind of fell behind so I had to kind of push ahead, but it had a really excellent ending that I didn't expect but love. Please give us more, Masahiro Ando, preferably with dudes cutting each other up, but barring that, coming-of-age stories work surefine.

Steins;Gate was ultimately not the show for me, but certainly decent if you want a time travel show.

Dantalian no Shoka got much more entertaining after three episodes, and was worth the watch I gave it, but certainly is not a recommendation unless you like Miyuki Sawashiro and Ono Daisuke. There are some pretty decent/interesting mysteries too, but I dunno, it's hard for me to consider how good it is.

Usagi Drop is friggin' excellent and you have no reason not to watch it barring you having already seen it.

No. 6 got the drop because the only entertainment I got out of it was the hilarious fujoshi subtext, which became much less hilarious when it turned out they were actually gay.

I really need to get back with Nichijou. It's a very funny, off-beat series that I would love to see more of!

...and even if you've already seen it, you have to see it again! I know I have! I really wouldn't mind seeing this show in an English Dubbed version. I would buy it in a heartbeat.

You know, I watched one or two episodes of this one, and I did kinda-sorta get the feeling that something was strange...

In any case, I'm currently watching "Please Teacher", and I think afterwards, since it's a short series, I'll rewatch either "Legend of the Mystical Ninja", "Moribito: Guardian of the Spirit" or maybe I'll dust off "Death Note" and give it a spin.

Just finished Mystic Archives of Dantalian. Loved it so, so, so much. <3 So much. The music, the art...I even loved the pacing. The characters. The episodic nature. Really can't think of anything I didn't really like. Sad it's over.

Trigun 1-5- some of the humor falls a little flat, and some epiodes are more preachy than others, but overall I think it's a fun ride. 8/10.

Preachy? I don't get it. Anyway.
It's kinda funny that you're watching Trigun now.

I'm currently rewatching it with my husband, he's loving it so far and I still love it. ^_^

I mean that the lessons/morals are more obvious in some than in others. The one episode about
the guy that kidnapps the daughter of the man that killed his parents is obviously 'an eye for an eye', for instance. And then there was the instance in the first episode where I was put off because Vash turned and stated 'I'm against suicide', and it came off as.... maybe not preachy, but like an obvious moral lesson, because there are more subtle ways of saying the same thing. Of course, I'm watching the dub, so I'm going to have to rewatch that scene and see how it compares in the subtitled version
Last Exile episodes 7 - 13 (Counting yesterday)

I'm really enjoying this, a lot more then I thought I would too. The plot is getting much more interesting, and I just realized that I know nothing about most of the characters in LE. I'm not saying that their characters aren't developing, they are and quite nicely too.
(The only one I can't stand is Tatiana. She is... terribly annoying imo.) It's just that lots of them are enshrouded in mystery and I hope that Last Exile manges to answer all of my questions by the last episode.

Even though I walk though the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for thou art with me; Thy rod and Thy staff, they comfort me. Thou dost prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; Thou hast anointed my head with oil; My cup overflows. Surely goodness and lovingkindness will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Psalm 23

What a coincidence! I just bought the boxed set for this today!
Anyway, just started the "gag dub" of Ghost Stories.

This is one of my guilty pleasures. My husband and I have been watching it and are maybe 2/3 of the way through. It keeps getting funnier, although the humor is probably not for everyone. (And by that, I mean that some of the time it's too much for me.)

For us, part of the humor of watching the gag dub is trying to figure out what on earth was really going on in the original. The plots all seem incredibly stupid and sometimes sentimental in the worst way, so I find myself wondering how on earth a given episode could ever have worked if taken seriously.

Yeah, I understand that, and I'm only watching the dub. But I definitely wouldn't go as far as to calling it preachy. Haha. I mean stuff like that happens in real life anyway. I find it actually somewhat refreshing that's it is not as subtle as it could have been. I mean, just listen to what Vash says between episodes within the preview. There's some really good stuff he has to say that people can think about. I like that aspect about Vash, and in alot of ways he actually isn't very different from Kenshin in that sense.

I don't like Kenshin either  So yeah. I like subtlety- when lessons are made to be obvious, then it feels like I'm being told that I'm too stupid to figure it out otherwise. I don't mind this in kid's shows, but Trigun isn't exactly a kid's show.

Just watched Last Exile episodes 14 - 17

Okay, so a lot of my previous questions have been answered. (They were good answers btw. :eyebrow:)
But now I am finding Claus and Lavie both extremely annoying with all of the melodramatic stuff that they have going on. (And I used to like the two of them quite a lot.) I think I like Mullin, Alex and Sophia best; but that is bound to change with all of the melodrama going on. x_x
And poor Sophia! In just a few short episodes her life turns into a disaster! The man she loves won't return her feelings because she looks too much like his dead fiancee(?), she goes back home only to have her father not listen to her, lock her in a tower and then try to kill her. Finally, the icing on the cake is that Sophia's prime minister, who was the closest thing she had to a real father, pressures her to take the throne and then kills himself and her dad. All while the capital is under heavy attack. :shady:
However, despite all of the drama going on and the destruction of Claus and Lavie's characters,
I still am really into LE and I still like it plenty.
(Now, lets hope that a few of these things are resolved and that the ending is satisfactory.)

Still 8/10. :forehead:

@rocklobster: Have you seen LE before? Or are you now going to since you bought it on dvd? =3

I've seen it twice. And the ending is quite satisfying, at least to me it was. Oh and Alex is my favorite character too. Crispin Freeman is in top form as him, and it's my favorite role for Crispin Freeman.
BTW, if you like Last Exile, you will probably like Captain Harlock on crunchyroll.com. Harlock and Alex are quite similar. Just be prepared for old-school animation.

I started Gurren Lagann a week or two ago, then stopped after episode 6 because I was kind of bored with it (I'm not exactly the targeted audience). Then yesterday I randomly decided to resume watching it. And then...I watched episode 8. and I. Just. Wow. Really?
KAMINAAAAAAA!!!! WHY? WHY?! This goes into my saddest anime deaths ranking as somewhere around number 2 or 3.
Anyway, I'm currently on episode 18.

I really need to finish Mushi-shi as well...
and Clannad After Story...

Hm... well, there's blood. But I think I knew that from the title... but now I'm getting kinda hooked and really wanting to know what's going on, lol :eyeroll:

@rocklobster: I like oldschool animation, so I'll be sure to check it out. :D

Last Exile episodes 18 - 21

Well, now I like Claus better again, still find Lavie annoying. (I don't like Tatiana, I never will.)
And now I like Dio too, who knew I'd end up liking him? (He creeped me out at first.)
The plot is still good, I'm too sure I like where this is going though... D:
And what the heck is wrong with the Guild??? I hate Delphine, seriously. I am having major violent feelings toward an anime character. I haven't hated a character this bad since Shishio from Ruroni Kenshin.
My reaction at the end of all this:
Dio! Alex! Noooooo!!!! D: *shoves Claus and Alvus* Go be melodramatic in some other anime. >>
I doubt they'll brainwash Alex like they did to Dio, most likely they'll torture him... slowly. ;_;
8/10.

Kimi to Boku episode 2 - This show is catching my attention even more now.
Whatever the season in life, the RIGHT attitude makes all the difference.

That is interesting, and it makes sense why you wouldn't like Vash then.
I don't understand your logic, but that's okay. ^_^ I don't get that vibe at all.
I like things clearly made known then hidden, because for me it's more confusing.
Anyhow, to each their own, I suppose.

Finished Mashin Eiyuuden Wataru. Slogged through Wataru 2 and am trying to pretend it doesn't exist. I wish we would've just skipped it entirely. Thankfully, Chou Mashin Eiyuuden Wataru also pretends Wataru 2 doesn't exist. It's a lot like the first series, which was awesome.

I want to say you aren't alone, but I've only seen three Ghibli movies so far.
Kiki's Delivery Service]My Neighbor Totoro; which is something I saw plenty of times as a child, but can't vote for now.
Grave of the Fireflies; which was a little disappointing and not as sad as I thought it would be.
