She And Her Cat short (sub): This was so sweet (and even quite funny at one point )! Definitely worth the watch! :)

Also, Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 ep.'s 1-11 (complete, sub): ...Wow.

As I began watching this, I noticed that SubtleDoc had just finished it, and I knew that his review would put things into words far better than I could (and indeed it did :))-- so I'll just say that I completely agree on all points.

Aura Battler Dunbine

Great old-school epic robot war anime, not really sure if I loved season 2 as much, but season 1 was stellar.

Baccano! - It took me forever to get the different years straight 'cause I wasn't paying attention! Ugh. A little violent for my taste, but it's pretty awesome so far.

Air - Unlike Clannad, their eyes kind of bug me, especially when they blink. -.-

Spice and Wolf II - Finally started it, it's been so long I had to watch the first season again. I don't understand why I like it so much, but I can't resist it.

Accel World - Sub is still airing. Like it so far, and Haru's so adorable!

And, still on Brotherhood.

Finished Tsubasa Chronicle - FINALLY :eyeroll: The filler episodes were starting to really drag on. Now I'm going through the OVAs; I watched the first two episodes of Tokyo Revelations.

Vampire Wars was without doubt crap but surprisingly enjoyable turd with all the gore, action, girl slicing and agent shooting. The MC was also kinda hardcore which made the OVA actually tolerable if nonetheless terrible.

Image

But I decided to watch three anime that make Mars of Destruction look like a work of art in the same vein as the Mona Lisa.

Watched this atrocious nazi time travel action ONA named Urda which is simply dreadful piece of crap all around.
Image
I am talking about beyond Mars of Destruction levels of turd here. Objectively even worse than Harmageddon but at least these were short instances of torture that were often unintentionally hilarious (Panzer Dragoon was a laughing riot with the dub).

Image
Tenkuu Danzato Skelter Heaven is earlier work by the magnificent studio responsible for the medium defining artistic masterpiece that is Mars of Destruction. Somehow on top of being just as bad it manages to be even more incomprehensible and nonsensical piece of trud.

Also,

Image
LOL Panzer Dragoon was absolutely hysterical. One of the ugliest pieces of animation to ever come out from Japan (this goes for above titles too) it's half hour fun ride of terrible writing terrible acting terrible animation and terrible...well, everything

but oh boy if it is funny with the dub...To quote ANN
Dubbed half-heartedly by Tristan MacAvery (a guy who once directed a handful of ADV dubs before a rather bitter departure), the English version features a truly ridiculous performance by Randy Sparks. Sparks speaks in such an affected, announcer-ish voice that he sounds like he's about to announce a monster truck pull ("SUNDAY! SUNDAY! SUNDAY!"). Kim Sevier turns in a chirpy Alita. Both speak in the sort of wild, exaggerated manner that makes me imagine someone is putting worms down the back of their shirt.

I just watched Mardock Scramble: The Second Combustion. Overall I did not think it was as good as the first movie and it just seemed to be leading toward the 3rd...hopefully the 3rd movie lives up to the buildup/hype created by the first two movies.

Update: Watched SAO ep 1
lol. There's no way that game would last in real life. It'd be shut down the moment after the news spread. Makes things alittle more interesting though.
I watched the Escaflowne movie . Now for a long time, I've heard that it was terrible compared to the TV series. After watching it, I can't say that it was terrible, but it isn't the best movie ever. The animation was great, the soundtrack is pretty good, and I don't mind the character and story changes that were made. I think the problem with the film is that there wasn't time for everything. The TV series had 26 episodes to show all the backstory and character arcs that gave the show some texture. It just isn't possible to put all that information in an hour-and-a-half film. I would have liked to get more of a backstory of this version of Gaia and why this version of Hitomi was able to go there. Maybe this is why some fans of the TV show were disappointed. I believe that the movie could have been 20 to 30 minutes longer and flesh this and other details out. Even with this flaw, I don't regret watching the movie. .

I've been watching the end episodes of Princess Tutu, and the craziest thing happened I wrote a whole poem just so I could fit one of the lines from that movie into a poem! I posted it in God's Poetry if you want to check it out.

Tiger & Bunny ep.'s 1-25 (complete, sub): Well, I wasn't quite sure how interested I was going to be in this after the first episode or two... but by episode 3 I was hooked ;), and it only got better from there, so I ended up enjoying it quite a bit! :jump: SPOILER: Highlight text to read: Though, as surprisingly satisfying as that ending was ( :jump: ), there were still some significant loose ends there with Lunatic + the "Ouroboros will never die" thing + the symbol hidden in the money. :P Hope that at least the second of the two upcoming Tiger & Bunny movies will address some of that. :) Regardless, though, it was definitely a great series, and it left me with a grin on my face, so thumbs up for that! :thumb: To sum it up: Sure, it's not like it had the deepest story ever; and sure, it wasn't without its flaws... but, man, was it entertaining! :thumb:

Hyouka ep 15, I can honestly say, I'm really enjoying this show more then I should. I just love it, can't help it. x3

Eureka Seven Ao 15, Noooo! Why does Bones have to leave us at a huge cliff hanger for two weeks?? It's not faaaiiiir.

Sword Art Online eps 1 - 4. So I wasn't even interested about this when I heard about it, but then while I was browsing the Hyouka tag on tumblr yesterday (I like to collect as many gifs as possible.), someone said that the two best shows of the summer were Hyouka and this. So I decided to give it a try. And while I don't know if it's the best show of summer, it is very good. I'm liking it muchly right now. Some people are saying the main is a gary-stu, but I don't think he is. He's a pleasant enough main guy, and I don't see him turning into Kira Yamato any time soon. (I don't even mind Kira much either. >>) The action scenes are neat anyway and the fanservice isn't outrageous.

Kare Kano 11 - 12. Had this one on hold again for some reason. But I like it and look forward to each episode (Arima-kun~!), even if I am taking my time.

Thou dost prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; Thou hast anointed my head with oil; My cup overflows. Crystal Triangle
One the lesser known "worst anime films ever". This epic adventure movie answers a hugely important question that humanity has wanted to know since the beginning of time: What if Indiana Jones could shoot giant laser beams out of his hands? I've never seen so many priceless historical artifacts being destroyed in one movie.

Watched the first 8 episodes of Puella Magi Madoka Magica. OH MY GOSH!!! This.....is unlike ANY Magic Girl series I have ever seen. It's dark, deep, and even disturbing at time, and music by Yuki Kajiura is so fitting! I am curious how this;ll all pan out in the last 4 episodes! It's very addicting, with beautiful animation, and cute character designs.

Kalafina's "Magia" song is best. I bought it from Amazon, I loved it so much.

FINISHED MADOKA MAGICA!!!!!

Oh my, oh my.......

Just. Wow.
The way it ended was so bittersweet, but beautiful. Everything about the show made the fate of a Magical Girl seems so bleak and hopeless, with that Kyubey not understanding the concept of human values and emotion. Homura went back, reliving the same month, in order to save her best friend and prevent her from making the contract. In the end, to end this vicious cycle of suffering that always ends in despair, Madoka does make the contract and makes a wish to end all witches before they are born WITH HER OWN HANDS! The sacrifice made....it's like, wow. Bittersweet, but very meaningful to a series that you'd think would be hopeless until the bitter end.
With no internets, have fallen on backup anime that I've been hoarding. Digimon Adventures 4-8- This is a lot better than the Digimon I watched as a kid! I'm really seeing a lot of personality, and the plot is decently interesting. Now that I've hit ep 8, things are steaming up. It really made Jyou a FAR more sympathetic character than he has been - he really feels responsible because he's the oldest, and the reason he's been so desperate for adults is because that same responsibility is building on his shoulders - he feels like he can't do it alone, though I don't think he'd ever admit it.

Trigun. It's a reverse Rango! Where Rango talks big and can't actually do anything, Vash is a whole lot better than he lets on. He's kind of like Kenshin from Ruriken. I totally wish there wasn't any swearing in it so I could introduce it to the rest of my family, but Mom would wring my neck.

The philosophy behind the series is very rooted in Buddhism. It's only Christian in the imagery and then only to a degree.
Blessed be the LORD my strength which teacheth my hands to war, and my fingers to fight:
My goodness, and my fortress; my high tower, and my deliverer; my shield, and he in whom I trust; who subdueth my people under me.

I've been watching a bit more of Da Garn, which has impressed me. It doesn't have quite the same levels of robotic bombast as GaoGaiGar, but on the other hand its comedy is rather less restrained. At the point I've reached both the heroes and the villains are concealing their identities, which has set up a couple of episodes of quite neatly-arranged comic misunderstandings.

Finally got tired of trying to finish shows I didn't really care about so put a bunch I didn't care about on hold and others I just plain wasn't ready to be done with yet on hold as well.

I'll be trying Angel Beats! again though and...

watched first episode of Texhnolyze. I kind of fell in love with it in the first 10 seconds. Episode 1 was exactly what I was expecting. The artwork is gorgeous and the atmosphere phenomenal. I can understand why it is accused of starting slow, but it didn't feel slow. Just different. Very, very atmospheric. Very, very artsy with a delicately contemplative dread hanging over everyone and everything.

Though as a content notes to people it does borderline open with some funky weird sex scene.
