Finished Blood+ about a week ago, I had to force myself through that one, big let down after SAO. I felt like I kept waiting for it take off and then it never did, and it still didn't, and it still didn't, and then it ended. It wasn't totally awful though there was an occasional good part, and there was about 10 episodes somewhere in the first 25 that were really enjoyable, and I did finish all 50 episodes so I must have found some entertainment in it. But anyway Nankurunaisa :P

@PandaPop
I watched Blood+ a few years back and I agree it wound up being slow despite all the fight scenes. I remember that I got totally furious about her little brother's *situation*... sadly, that's almost the only thing that really sticks out in my mind about the series now. Despite that, I did name my Christmas tree "Haji" that year (I liked his cello, and his name is fun to say).

Oh yeah, I marathon'd Blood Lad last month. It was by no means AOTY 2013 material, but it was nonetheless enjoyable. Lots of fan service though.

@faithb4sight
ahh I know that was terrible, I can see how its the only thing that really sticks out, it was such a shock compared to the rest of the series, a disturbing shock. How funny,I find myself occasionally just saying Haji

I just finished watching the first episode of Kyoukai no Kanata. I liked it overall, but I'm not sure what to think of Mirai. One minute she is leaping with the ease of an experienced gymnast and the next she's tripping and stumbling. It's weird watching her scenes back to back.

Monogatari Second Season episodes 13-14:

Loved, loved, loved the dialogue in these two! (...I mean, I know that's always been one of the big draws to the Monogatari series, but some episodes are better at it than others, and these two were excellent.)

Also: SPOILER: Highlight text to read: Those insights by Shinobu and Tsukihi were very interesting... and wow, Nadeko's sudden snap in school was really impressive (in terms of both the snap itself and the vocal performance of it!). :pikka: And I know I mentioned the dialogue already, but I just have to add that the very last two lines in ep. 14 were fantastic-- plus, they were also brilliantly timed (enough so that I was actually surprised along with Nadeko), and made for the perfect end to the episode as well as a great cliffhanger.

Really looking forward to next week!
Saved by grace.

I haven't come around here to comment in a while so...

Finished my trio of Bakemonogatari, Dennou Coil and Natsume s2 a week and a bit ago.
After putting it on hold for so long, I'm glad I finally finished Bakemonogatari and also that I decided to re-watch the parts I'd already seen. I think it definitely would have lost a lot of impact had I just watched the 4 or 5 episodes I'd been missing on their own. Episode 12 was my favourite and I'll definitely be looking into the rest of the series, although not right now.
Dennou Coil, wow what a slow burner but a really good show. I say slow, but it never really feels like it's dragging along. I was a little disappointed that some of the characters got side lined towards the end but overall it was really good.
Natsume s2, I really liked that we got to see more regular/returning characters this season and Natsume growing and getting better at people and his relationship with Nyanko-sensei and aaaah it was just all lovely. ^__^

As for the new stuff I'm watching:
Kaiji: Ultimate Survivor -zawa zawa- I'm having lots of fun with this and oh goodness let no one ever tell you that SPOILER: Highlight text to read: rock paper scissors is not serious business.
The Tatami Galaxy, well Bakemonogatari was excellent exercise in the art of pausing really quickly, which I totally need for this show. So far it's pretty good, I'm struck how well they carry over the feeling of "sameness" even though every episode is technically different.

Other stuff:

Interstella5555: The 5tory of The 5ecret 5tar 5ystem: It don't know if this was supposed to be hilarious or if it was unintentionally so but I was laughing all the way through. I'm not even a big fan of Daft Punk's music but I saw the music video for one of the songs waaaaaaay back when I was just on the brink of discovering anime and it was the greatest thing ever, so I had to see the whole movie at some point.

Kara no Kyoukai 5: Gah, I was way disturbed by this one, much more than the others. SPOILER: Highlight text to read: Since I can usually handle violence well, I attribute it to the domestic nature of the violence and how sad and realistic the fall of the Enjou family was.

I've just recently started watching Fairy Tail, and Teen Titans (if that counts as anime xD)

SierraLea: I did the same thing. Too bad, really, that they made it so wacky and made the overbearing dad into a running joke that got tired way too fast. The premise had some interesting potential.

Just finished Kimi Ni Todoke, anyone that is into Romance, slice of life animes NEEDS to watch this. A very adorable anime

I tried Sunday without God, the whole theme of revenge turned me off from the anime, didn't seem like a anime I'd like honestly.

Next I'm finishing up Space Brothers.

From Up On Poppy Hill, a.k.a. Kokurikozaka kara, movie (sub):

I'd been waiting to watch this until it was officially released here, and my library just finally got it in. :thumb:

Of course, as expected of a Ghibli film, it looked beautiful. I also really liked the fact that it was set in the 1960's, and its entire atmosphere really drew you into that era.

As for the characters: I appreciated that the main girl (Umi/Meru) was quite mature and strong, the main guy (Shun) was actually really nice :) , and the supporting characters (Umi's family and boarders, Shun's dad, all the hilarious club boys  , the two adorable hinted side couples ;) , etc.) were all quite loveable as well. And I suppose that the clubhouse itself was also a character, of sorts-- old and dirty and insanely crowded and cluttered as it was, in its original state, it was actually really charming (and it was even more so after it got cleaned up!), and I can see why the students loved it so much. :)

Now, as for that one particular little 'twist' in the plot: I had actually heard about it long before watching the movie, and was interested to see how it would be handled... and, actually, IMO it was done pretty naturally-- plus, of course, it SPOILER: Highlight text to read: didn't end up being true in the end, regardless-- so I didn't mind at all. :)

Oh, and one more thing: I adored all the music! :jump:

All that said, while I've quite enjoyed most of the Ghibli films that I've seen so far (bar a select few), Whisper Of The Heart is actually my top favorite one, and (before watching this) Ocean Waves ranked at #4-- and both of those are slice-of-life romances, as well-- so, as you can imagine, Poppy Hill was right up my alley in that regard. :) While IMO this wasn't as amazing as Whisper, Poppy Hill was a wonderfully immersive little slice-of-life drama, and very much worth the watch. :thumb:

If college life will let me, I'm going to finish all of the Dragonball franchise again- this time in Japanese. Love young Kakarot's monkey-like voice. Then I'll be watching Digimon Frontier, which I've never finished.

Monogatari Second Season episode 15:

SPOILER: Highlight text to read: Wow. That breakdown was... intense. And mildly disturbing. :pikka: (Once she went yandere, she went yandere hardcore. :pikka: )

Also, the 'story' explanation was brilliant-- I never would've expected that. And Senjougahara's phone intervention was epic.

Finally: That 'preview' after the credits... that quite literally gave me chills. Holy crap. :pikka: :pikka: :?:

Somehow, literally every single arc so far this season has become a new favorite Monogatari-series arc for me, this one most definitely included! Consider me impressed-- and quite looking forward to whatever is next!

Been watching Free! here and there; I'm on episode 5. I was expecting something slice of life with lots of cuteness, only with dudes. there is some of that to be had, and this Rei guy learning to swim thing and not liking his speedo is hilarious. But that's all in-between the ecchi-for-girls scenery. It's like Sekirei with high school guys. It's all right nonetheless. Some scenes are pretty mantastic.

you think that's hardcore? You cute, innocent soul.

Mardock Scramble finale was decent. They dragged the gambling out longer than I would've liked but the last fight scene was good. The twist was an interesting way to tie things up, even if the actual plot was never the real highlight of the show. Fun fact: Amazing Grace is used as a theme song, including a very weird remix by Megumi Hayashibara. It has some pretty mature content though so I wouldn't recommend watching because of that.

Aoki Hagane no Arpeggio: Ars Nova - Episode 2: Seems to have gone a bit downhill from the first episode, more talking and less fighting than expected, but still a good show.
