"Voice to Voice" Thread Deleted

Postby Ashley » Wed Oct 06, 2004 8:26 pm

Earlier the staff recieved notificiation that harrasment has been occuring over the Skype messaging system. We thus deleted the thread listing usernames that members had been posting for contacting them through Skype.

Again it wasn't that anything bad was said in the thread, it just made it far too easy to access usernames for abusive purposes. If you still would like to get Skype usernames, I suggest you take it to PMs. Any further threads of this nature will likewise be deleted.

It is a online program that allows for people to speak to each other voice to voice that gained a fair amount of popularity on CAA. There was a thread in which people could contact one another, and it is this thread that has been closed.

We're not exactly happy that things are driving us to more and more measures, but it's something that is absolutely necessary. Rest assured, we will keep fighting until it stops. I'd think it's a small sacrifice to make so that others can feel more comfortable and safe.

Besides, just like with the IM icons, you can still get the skype username by pm'ing someone and asking if they have it. This still allows you the freedom to use the system, it's just in a much more controlled environment. Plus, wouldn't you want to have a little more control over who gets your username and who doesn't?

"The advice I like to give young artists, or really anybody who’ll listen to me, is not to wait around for inspiration. Inspiration is for amateurs; the rest of us just show up and get to work. If you wait around for the clouds to part and a bolt of lightning to strike you in the brain, you are not going to make an awful lot of work. All the best ideas come out of the process; they come out of the work itself. Things occur to you. If you’re sitting around trying to dream up a great art idea, you can sit there a long time before anything happens. But if you just get to work, something will occur to you and something else will occur to you and something else that you reject will push you in another direction. Inspiration is absolutely unnecessary and somehow deceptive. You feel like you need this great idea before you can get down to work, and I find that’s almost never the case." - Chuck Close[/color]

no no, don't get me wrong. I'm not mad on the fact that you're removing the AIM screennames and Skype stuff. I'm annoyed because of the Harrassers who do this stuff ^_^

Thank you for clarifying; such generally helps. Remember that very short messages often are taken in different contexts by yourself and by others. Yes, they annoy us to.

Meanwhile, unless someone has something to contribute to this thread or to update the information herein, further posting will not be necessary.

Voice to Voice communication over microphone.

At this point I would intervene to say that this thread is not regarding discussion of Skype, but rather informing people that the thread has been deleted. If you are interested in gathering more information, feel free to PM those involved with Skype or research it on the internet.
