Sakura in High School: A Manga I'm Writing

Postby SakuraSamurai » Wed Oct 27, 2004 11:39 am

I am in the middle of a writing a script of a manga that I will be probably drawing sooner or later, but it is about a girl on another planet about her life as a typical Christian girl from her freshmen year to her senior year. Her life is parallel to mine and some of the thing that I have seen and experienced wil be revealed in my manga. I told this story in another forum and I got negative reviews, but some fellow Christians told me that it was a good idea but there wasn't any story! What should I do?

BTW: I wasn't sure where to post this, so if it is in the wrong spot then I apologize. :bang:

Any idea has potential, if it's handled properly. The premise sounds okay. This girl Sakura is going to need to have some intersting things happen to her. Perhaps some goals she is trying to accomplish and obstacles to them?

Can you give a slightly more detailed description of where the story will go during the four years? What emmotions or thoughts do you wish to convey to the audience? Also, what is your motive for setting it on another planet?

Like I said, it has potential, but you need to have a clear picture of what you want to accomplish.

Sakura is a girl in a family of four that has moved from the country to the big city because both parents were promoted. Sakura has now about to join a kendo club and has made three new friends so far. Conquera is her rival (to her dismay) for the affections of Yarei a cat boy who begins to have crush on her. From then on that what's the story is based around.

Sounds like a very good start! You've got relationship dynamics going, so you've got the basics down.

I'd say to go ahead and plan out your first chapter (if you haven't already). This will help you focus on deeper details. Figure out how to arrange your frames and dialogue in a streamline manner. Work on creating a consistent 'look' and atmosphere through out the chapter.

Then post some of the dialogue and scene descriptions, or better, a finished page or two for critique. If you're truly concerned about whether or not other people will find the story interesting, I can't think of a better way to find out. You're bound to get some helpful feedback.
