Okay, the season is officially at the half way mark. Some teams have been a big surprise while others have been a disappointment.

Out of tthe stats that are given, which teams do you predict will make it to the playoffs/post season?

Note (for those who don't know): The team with the best record in each division advances to the to the playoffs. Then two wild card teams from each conference (NFC and AFC) are chosen; the two teams w/ the next best record. So 12 teams in total will enter the playoffs; 8 division winners + 4 wild card teams total.

Here are my predictions based on overall record and remaining schedule:

AFC:
Division winners: Indianapolis, New England, Pittsburgh and San Diego
Wild card picks: N.Y. Jets and Denver

NFC:
Division winners: Philadelphia, Green Bay, Atlanta and Seattle.
Wild Card picks: N.Y. Giants and Minnesota

Though I still believe that we shouldn't count out Detroit, Jacksonville or Baltimore. They all have a good potential of being wild cards.

The Steelers will win the superbowl. Probably playing the Eagles. My only hope, is that the Patriots and the Chargers both get smoked in the playoffs.

Like termyt , I'm predicting Greenbay and the Steelers to play in the superbowl. Both are very strong teams and it's hard to predict the outcome. But I would really like GB to win, I got a ton of family members that live in Wisconsin; some of the most die hard packer fans. Though I would really like to see Bill Cowher get his ring; he's one of the best coaches ever that has yet to win a ring. So I'm really split....

As I explained in another thread....here is my take. The top 4 AFC teams are SD Indy NE and Pitt. SD cannot beat any of those 4 teams...they have had an easy season...and have not yet proven they can beat powerhouse teams. Indy is a great team..no doubt. But there getting better every year. This year however, won't be there year. Bill Bellecheck has Peyton Mannings number. It happens...in the NFL. A coach can figure a QB out. Indy at least this year...cannot beat NE. It won't happen. However. Nobody in the AFC can hope to stop Pitt. I am an Oakland fan...so it means somthing when I say teams have underestimated Pitt. They will beat NE in the playoffs...at last gaining the respect they deserve. On the NFC side I can't see anyone...even GB beating Philly. Philly will at last make the Superbowl...however, they will be crushed by a well rouded defense and offense. Its been a few years since I have seen a team like Pitt. First one to come to mind, the NE Patriots the year they beat the Rams. Watch out NE...My call. 42-14 Pitt over Philly in the Superbowl.

Who Shatterheart that is quite a seismic point differential you predicted there. I highly doubt it would be that much of a spread. And even though Pittsburgh has beaten both Philly and NE, the Pats are getting better as they find a niche for Corey Dillon.

But I think that Philly has the greatest momentum on their side and as it stands today, if they were to play NE or Pitt (Which seems very likely), I think they would win against either.

Philadephila 24 - NE or Pittsburgh 20

I pick St. Louis over Seattle for realistic reasons since the Seahawks have
started to free fall in recent games.If they want to win the divison they need to win.So look for the Rams to surprise everyone and sneak in pass the
Seahawks.

Superbowl:Philadephia versus New England or Indianoplis versis St. Louis.

The Dallas Cowboys are technically in wild card contention, but after this weeks disappointing loss to the Saints it looks as though I may have gotten my hopes up...

New England, Pittsburgh and Indianapolis have all clinched the division while San Diego (10-3) and Denver (8-5) fight over AFC West. Odds are SD will clinch the West. BUt like Shatterheart has stated, they will not advance far, they have had quite an easy schedule this year. ONce play-offs start, look out for the Steelers.
AFC wild cards: Denver and the NY Jets.

In the NFC Philadelphia and Atlanta are the only teams to clinch play-off birth. But I expect the Greenbay Packers to win the AFC North and for Seattle to take the West.
Wild cards: Well this is a really tough one. I know that Minnesota will take one seat and the other is up for grabs.

possible Wild Cards:
N.Y. Giants 5-8
Dallas 5-8
Detroit 5-8
Chicago 5-8
Carolina 6-7
Tampa Bay 5-8
New Orleans 5-8
St. Louis 6-7

St. Louis will only win one more against the Cardinals while loosing to both Philadelphia and the Jets. So on personal opinion, they will not make it.

I either choose Carolina or Dallas. I will be hoping that Dallas will make it. If we can beat Philadelphia next week in Phili we will win the last two putting Dallas at 8-8. Though unlikely i've seen weirder things happen in the NFL.

All my picks remain the same besides one change in the NFC wildcard picks. I no longer believe the NY Giants will win the 2nd wild card spot.

Buffalo Bills? Oh, I didn't forget about the Buffalo Bills...

The Buffalo Bills are in a totally different conference, the AFC. Unlike the NFC's situation were there are a handful of teams with close/similar records fighting for the last spot (as I've listed up there), the AFC doesn't really present much of a lead way when it comes to the wild cards. Like I have stated, 3 teams have already clinched play-off birth in the AFC. The Jets having the next best record at 9-4 will take one wild card position. This decision is also based on their remaining schedule. Though it is possible, the Bill are 7-6. Not bad, but the other strong teams are Baltimore (8-5), Jacksonville (7-6) and finally Denver at 8-5. Although the Bills remaining schedule isn't difficult, I really believe the Jets and Denver will advance.

Edit: Actually let me scratch my ealier Wild card prediction for the AFC.
It will be The Jets, and a toss up between either Denver or Jacksonville.

Jacksonville has the easier schedule. I believe they will loose to Greenbay and will win the next two against Houston and Oakland.

Denver's remaining schedule: Kansas City, Tennessee and Indianapolis.

Too hard to decide....

I don't mean to pick on you, but you missed two divisions. There are no Central divisions anymore - now there's both a North and a South. Indianpolis is in the AFC South and Minnesota is in the NFC North. What about the AFC North (*cough*Pittsburgh*cough*) and the NFC South(*cough*Atlanta*cough*)?

NE just got the biggest upset of the year. Miami beat them...but I still say Miami had they not had there "issues" this season...would have been a powerhouse. The playoff picture changes a bit now...because if Pitt can hang on and not lose twice...they can keep homefield and first round bye. NE for the first time in years...do not look invincible.

The NFC...Err... I don't believe it'll be the Eagles-- Dallas gave them a run for their money. Like I've said a million times that's why they play the games, anything can happen. Everyone is a profession/skilled players. Also, with Owens being injuried it can't be a good sign. Even though Greenbay lost against Jacksonville, I really do think GB will do it. Plus, there was some really messed up calls against the Packers. That aside, the play-offs look to provide some entertaining match ups.

might i remind that they did not struggle the game winnning drive when mac 5 went back to how he played when to was not there plus they hasve westbrook who was not there for the playoffs last year i think they pull it off and to comes back for the big one and for the AFC i think the chargers come out on top

That's right, the "winning drive," they have to be able to do that every drive. I just personally think there are stronger teams... I mean you can compare stats and such but that doesn't do much. For example everyone believed, based on record and stats that the Patriots were going to cream Miami. Fact is they didn't. It's the NFL, anything is possible. But you know what, records and Stats mean nothing once the play-offs start-- it's a clean slate. So you never know, Patriots or Steelers could loose the first play-off game, or a wild card team could win the superbowl, anything is possible. That's why they play the game.

Might I remind you who has beaten both NE and Philly this year. Pittsburgh. SD might have a chance against Indy...we will see Sunday on that. As far as NE and Pitt...NE is not losing any "grip" They simply had a rare bad game. You don't go 12-2 and be a lousy team. NE or Pitt will go to the Superbowl, my pick to win it all is Pitt. As for Philly...eh. I think they will probably be the NFC team...but I don't think they can beat Pitt.

Ah yes, my fav sports time of the year. I will be the first to throw down my predictions then.

First Round:
Saturday, Jan. 8
St. Louis at Seattle 3:30pm
N.Y. Jets at San Diego 7:00pm

Sunday, Jan. 9
Denver at Indianapolis 12:00pm
Minnesota at Green Bay 3:30pm

St. Louis over Seattle by 7
San Diego slaughters the Jets by 14
Indy lays a beatdown on Denver and wins by 14
Green Bay beats Minnesota by 7

So that would mean that San Diego goes to Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh will win that by 7. Green Bay goes to meet the Falcons, gotta go with Atlanta there. Probably by 3. Then we would have St. Louis going to Philly. Take Philly there by 10. I might have the NFC messed up there....as far as who goes where. Indy then goes to New England. This I am really torn on.I really want to pick Indy...but NE will win this game by 3. So my pick for AFC title game is NE going to Pittsburgh. NFC title game will be Atlanta going to Philly. My picks from about 3/4 through the season will go through. It will be an all Penn superbowl with the Eagles and Steelers meeting in Jacksonville. I think Pittsburgh will domintate the Eagles. Final Superbowl score 31-14.

Edit> 2 things. One, Agasfas you called the playoffs in November. That impresses me. You got the Giants and the Rams backwards. But other then that you nailed it. Also I am lowering my point spread for the Steelers victory...^^;;

Dang, almost... The Giants looks strong at mid-season, then when on like a 6-7 game lossing streak. Go figure.

Anyways here are my picks:
St. Louis over seatle by 12points
San Diego will send the Jets flying home winning by 6points
Indianapolis will powerdrive Denver into a ground with a 20point victory.

Now about the Vikings.... Regardless of what their lossing streak is it doesn't change the fact they a strong team, sometimes scary. But they can either be hot or cold. I think this week they will be on fire. Having yet another Culpepper-Favre shootout. Being a rival match these two temas play each other twice a year... They know each others game more then almost any other team. This will provide for a really energetic game. Most likely High scoring.

Greenbay will beat the vikings for the 3rd times this season by 6 points. WInning in O.T.

Second round:
Greenbay to send the Falcons packing with a 14point victory.
Pittsburgh will cream San Diego with a 20point victory.
Philadelphia will soar though the St. Louis Rams with perhaps a 17pt victory.
and my upset:
Indianapolis over the Patriots by a field goal. 3 point victory! *Crosses fingers*

NFC Championship Game:
Greenbay will send the the Eagles home for their 3rd straight NFC championship loss.

AFC Championship Game:
Indianapolis vs. Pittsburgh ... hmm.. this is a toughy... I may have to take a few days for this one.

So far luck has been on my side, hopely my picks will continue to be correct. I can only hope *continues to cross his fingers*

Time to throw down my predictions. I don't really want to even call the scores of these games, as I'm really bad at that, but I will anyway.

Saturday Jan. 8th:
St. Louis at Seattle: St. Louis emerges victorious riding the success of Stephen Jackson and Marc Bulger. Final Score, 34-31, St. Louis.
N.Y. Jets at San Diego: San Diego comes up big with 2 interceptions, one for a touchdown. Final Score, 31-21, San Diego

Sunday Jan. 9th:
Denver at Indianapolis: Denver's defense bends but doesn't break, leading to a come from behind victory for Denver. Final Score, 24-23, Denver.
Minnesota at Green Bay: Moss gets a touchdown, but that isn't enough to keep up with the 4 TDs that Favre throws. Final Score: 31-24, Green Bay.

Sat. Jan. 15th:
Denver at Pittsburgh: Denver squeaks past Pittsburgh 28-27.
Green Bay at Atlanta: A well rested Atlanta still manages to get beat by Green Bay 34-24.

Sun. Jan 16th:
St. Louis at Philly: St. Louis, 27-24
SD at New England: New England, 31-17.

Sun. Jan 23rd:
St. Louis at Green Bay: Green Bay wins in Lambeau 37-34 in OT.
Denver at New England: (not really...but I'm putting it down anyway, being from Denver and all) Denver wins 20-17.

Sunday Feb. 6th (Super Bowl 39):
Denver and Green Bay (Yeah...who'd have thunk it) meet again in the Super Bowl. This time, Green Bay wins, 30-27.

Alright, here are my prodictions for the Wildcards:

Seattle Beats St. Louis- No thats not a typo. here are my reasons.

1.Seattle were living up to every prediction that was made about them in the offseason untill they blew the 17 point lead against St.Louis and then while they were trying to recover from a devistating loss they faced the Patriots and lose another heart breaker thus slaughtering any confidence they had in themselves. The Rams ruined there season, now its the Seahawks chance for revenge.

2. Both of these teams are very inconsistent (in other words a different team shows up each week) but Seattle has been more consistent (hence the better record).

3. Its in Seattle, and if last week was any indication, Seattle's fans will be loud and obnoxious throughout the entire season.

4. Seattle can't loose four games in a row to the Rams, right?

5. I'm a Seahawks fan.

San Diego slaughters N.Y. Jets- San Diego is on fire, the Jets seem to be fizziling out.

Indianapolis beats Denver- Once again home field advantage and Payton Manning wasn't playing when Denver beat Indianapolis.

Green Bay 34 Minnesota 31- Lambeau Field, January, Farve. Do I need to say anything else.

I really hope Seattle wins...I love Jerry Rice. The Rams Seahawks game is really a toss up to me. Two more hot or cold teams. When they play good...there really good. But when there off..*looks away* But \m/ for Seahawks fans. *laughs* Since I am an Oakland fan I had to pick a team to watch for the playoffs. I am hoping Pittsburgh gets to the big game. Bettis needs a ring.

I am going with the Rams to win today even though I am a Seahawk fan.Why?
one word HEART.The Rams in their last two matchups showed they had a lot more
heart than the Seahawks.I doubt if it will even be a close one.Watch for a St.Louis
blow out by the third quarter.My perdiction on this one St.Louis wins by at least
20.
As far as the Vikings/Packers game goes.Look for the Vikings to get even.However
this one will go down to the wire and will be close.Look for a field goal or missed
extra point to make the difference.

Well 2 games done. Seattle lost to St. Louis and NY beat SD. Both were close awesome games. I was rooting for Seattle and NY. NY beating SD was the shocker of the playoffs so far...what an upset.
