Manga Disaster

Eek. Water damage sucks. I remember once after a huge rain storm I was working on my computer and heard a dripping sound. Water was dripping in through my closet. Fortunately it was a little water and was dripping on my LOTR minis. Plastic can handle water nicely.

I've got a suggestion in case the manga doesn't dry well. Hold on to the water logged books and then grab some scanlations off one of the anime bit torrent sites. I think that's justified as fair use.

Ahhh...sadly I recognize those poor, crinkled pages all too well. *hugs DK 2 and pets it lovingly* I think your manga faired very well, though. =O Luckily it doesn't look like any of them are yellowing or growing mildew.

Oh man, I would have flipped if it yellowed or grew mildew. I think I was lucky to discover the damage quickly. I'm guessing that they were soaked for maybe...a week? Now if they had been wet for a few months....... >_<;;;

Just a quick thought regarding ash's post:

Do you really want to put books that have glue on them in the oven? Maybe I'm being paranoid, but I don't think I'd want to risk that.

Between the fact that most covers have plastic on them, and that binding glue doesn't handle heat well (ymmv)...

Good point. Not so much for fire hazard (I don't think that the time/heat would be that bad -- AS LONG AS YOU DIDN'T FORGET THEY WERE THERE, but because the glue would probably crack and become brittle shedding pages like the OLD (pre-flip) Viz manga.
