A poem I wrote that's going to be published in a book!!!

I submitted this poem in a contest and it's in the semi-finals... hopefully it goes a little further.

I Die Again
I die time and time again
With blood stained hands I reach out
Drowning in blood
There's no light

Wishing for the day to end
Knowing it's for eternity
With blood stained hands I reach out
Yet there's nothing to grasp

Life has no meaning
Now that love is dead
My hands are stained
They won't come clean

I die time and time again
With blood stained hands I reach out
Drowning in blood
The blood of love

Tell me what you think... anything goes....

Umm... Wow. I'm not the best on interrupting poems, but I like it. Seriously. I hope this goes further in the contest. Good luck!
What was the intent/meaning of the peom? I'm just curious to see if my interpretation was right on any level. I'm a bit new (or a novice) to the whole poetry atmosphere.
Overall deep poem. Looks good :thumb:

Edit: What it's being published? That's so cool. I wish I could do something like that :P.

Well the book is called Eternal Portraits. It's a coffee shop book full of poems from writers across the world. It' to be published in the Winter of 2005.

Back ground of the poem. This is kind of difficult to explain but I'll do my best.

I've been going through a huge battle lately. I fighting to keep a friendship from what use to be a relationship. On top of that my relationship with my brother has been horrible for the past 2 years. He's my only brother and the oldest of 4. I've wanted so much for him to show/say that he loves me... which he never has.... ever. I fight almost constently with him and my sisters. There's not been any peace.

I went through my darkest time 2 years ago to the month. I gave up on love, but had a small hope that maybe I could have the love I wanted. Well, I got into a relationship I felt loved and my hope grew. But that was short lived. I began to get convicted that the relationship wasn't what God wanted for me. After fighting it, I finally gave in and ended the relationship. That's where the relationship turned bad. Hence the birth of the poem.

I felt like love had died and I was the one who killed it. Through the circumstances of my past and present.

I hope that helped you understand the poem a little better.

Got it, sorry to hear about that. But at least it helps me understand the meaning behind it. That's what I like about poetry, it can be inturpted many ways. So it's always nice to get the insight (meaning behind the poem) from the artist. Thanks for posting the poem, it's really good. :)

Yeah, poems are inturpted in way that they apply to the reader. In my case it applies to many areas of my life and can be inturpted in a different way for each area. Hence the background.

I'm glad you like it.... if this does well on this forum I may post more...

Very good. Lemme guess, International Library of Poetry? If so, I can almost guarantee you'll get the publish, but not much further. I have had two poems through there that got an audio publishing, One that I still have the little Editor's Choice Award from... as for your poem, it sounds good. Nice emotional touch.
Take it like you gave it; what else matters in the end? To be honest, it's all a one-shot test; that leaves plenty of places to go wrong, but how will you ever know? There's a pointer, I will admit. Turn it on, listen to it, feel it burn.

Yeah.... ILOP.... I don't expect much to come of it but I can still crossmy fingers.... I'm just excited that it's getting published. It's been my dream to have something published and now it's come true...

Y'know, if I had your name, I could look it up on their website. I don't expect to see it on the public forum, though. I like doing that, looking up poems from people I know on the poetry.com website. Kinda fun seeing how other people think.

I didn't know of it until I started looking for colege scholarships... I think anyone that wants to should at least send something. At least you could get your poem in a book!

Hey, I got one with the editor's award not too long ago. One of the ones I posted here on CAA. Can't remember exactly which one, though. I think it was "Just to See Your Smile". Not sure, although that's the last one they sent me. And then there's the Florida invitation thing. I even had a VIP number for that.

An interesting poem. My first response was that it is very bloody.

Nevertheless, I like it.
