Is the Sin City movie ok for Christians?

TV, Movies, Sports...you can find it all in here.

The problem that I see when reading a lot of "Christian" reviews of the film is that they take almost everything out of the context of the film.
One review mentioned the part where Hartigan shoots another character in the groin area (near the start of the film). Though, they didn't mention that the character who was shot was a child molestor who had raped & murdered many young girls.

Another part said that Hartigan killed someone to save a little girl. "The life of a man for the life of a little girl. Fair trade." Absolutely incorrect. First off all, Hartigan didn't kill anyone in this scene, he only shot the child molestor twice. Hartigan recieved multiple wounds and was dying. What the "fair trade" meant was Hartigan dying to save a little girl, not him killing someone to save her.
Don't think I'm defending these actions, as that is not my intention. I feel it wrong to take all of these parts out of context when putting together a review.

This is all in the first 15 minutes of the movie.

Hey, has anybody here heard of http://www.screenit.com? It gives a complete review of all movies-- from a non-christian perspective. It doesn't say what content is right and wrong, just what content is. I use it for almost every PG-13 movie I see so I can know if my little brother and sister can see it. You just go to "new movies" and go down the alphabetic list untill you find the movie your looking for. They have a rating for different things like sexual content/nudity, drug abuse, profanity, blood/gore, ect. When you choose the movie you want, it first gives you a rating under each category: minor, mild, heavy, or extreme. If you're still unsure if the movie will be suitable, you can go and read the exact content itself (which is better in my opinion than watching it-- it's a lot easier to forget.)
Anyways, they have a membership you can choose to join now, so non-members can't see new movie reviews untill a couple of days after it comes out, but if it means much to you it might be worth the wait. Sometimes it blows some minor things out of proportion, and on a few occasions it has left some content out, but usually I find it to be pretty fair. Anyways, if you really want to know if it'll be OK to see without actually seeing it, this is a pretty good place to go!

Sesshoumaru wrote:I don't see what the big deal about this movie is. The title is "Sin City" expect immoral content. Plus it's not like this stuff never happens nowadays. As screwed up as our world is I'm not surprised by the content of this movie. Plus there are animes like this: Really violent, full of corrupt immoral characters, sexuality etc. So what IS the big deal?? :eyeroll:

Does that justify the content? No.

what's wrong with debating, so long as you keep it clean and reasonable, don't argue, debate, I like debating, just not arguing. I find other people's opinions entertaining and like to stand for my own.

Because we the staff said Not to debate. That's why. It's in the policies you agreed to when you became a member here. Opinions expressed in a civil and courteous manner are fine, but don't start beating one another up or it gets locked. Simple as that.

... and the fact that you "find other people's opinions entertaining" pretty much drives the final nail into the coffin of discussion for enlightenment...

I'm not sure I follow, people are capable of having provocative and thought-provoking conversations without arguing. I understand being careful, but don't jump the gun and lock things before there is a need to.
I think discussions like this can get interesting sometimes, I understand the concern, but I would highly reccomend leaving stuff like this open for reasonable conversation and kill it only if it turns ugly.
