"Living Beyond Yourself" Girl's Bible Study

Postby Ashley » Mon May 23, 2005 8:31 am

The Living Beyond Yourself Bible study has finally come to formation. True_Noir_Chloe and I have the pleasure of leading any willing young ladies on a deeper search through God's Word concerning the book of Galatians and seeking spiritual fruit.

We will be meeting at 8:30 pm CST on Friday evenings for 11 weeks. We are so excited about what God will do, and we have been praying earnestly for each and every girl who will participate.

If you are planning on joining this study with us, please respond to this announcement thread by telling us which IM client you prefer: AIM or YIM.

It's not too late to join us! PM myself or True_Noir_Chloe for more information

I have both so it really doesn't matter to me... although there is voice talk on YIM that works better. Sometimes talking is so much easier than typing long amounts of text.

YIM all the way. However, I haven't picked up the workbook yet. Money's still kind of tight right now. Sorry!

I think I'm the only one here that prefers AIM. ^^; In any case, YIM is okay too.

I think Yahoo, if it doesn't make a difference. I'll need to set it up. Sadly, I haven't IMed since the BBS days b/c I work from home, I have 4,000 emails coming in daily at the speed of IM. I've just located the workbook at Lifeway Christian Stores so I'm going to run uptown to pick one up before Friday. I'm looking forward to the study. Do we need to do any of the workbook before then?

I've got both, but I've never used YIM before. Either works I guess. ^_^

The choice has been made. There's no looking back. I won't let up, back up, give up, or shut up. My focus clear. My path is straight. My God, reliable. I'm a disciple of Christ.

from what I know about Beth Moore books, the first get-together is like an introduction... I'm sure our leaders will correct me if I'm wrong ^^;

While we do want you to have the book by the 10th, you will not need to do anything before that meeting. We will have the first one as an introduction to the class and to one another. While it's possible to do the study with us WITHOUT a book for a while, we strongly encourage you to get one ASAP or PM one of us if you can't so we can get it to you.

I'm a bit bummed out 'cause I live near a Family Christian Bookstore, and today I went there, and they don't have the workbook. I'll have to try again later.

i haven't gotten the book yet, but am planning on getting it next week, hopefully one of the stores will have it. my work schecule is quite wonky, and i won't know what it is from one week to the next, so if i can't make the scheduled meetings, if someone could email me a transcript that would be much appreciated.

for those that i do manage to make, i have both YIM and AIM, i'll need to dig up my YIM, but doing so won't be much of a problem, and since i don't chat much on either of those, i don't have a preference.

Personally, I prefer AIM, but if everybody else wants YIM, I can hop over to yahoo and set myself up an account.

(Are we suppose to do a week of the study BEFORE the first session, or is this first session just an intro to the study? *hopes it's the latter or she's really gonna have to get crackin'*)
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

You see into the deepest part of me ---

beyond the fog I hide behind.

You cast your light upon the shadows

that stretch like cobwebs in my mind.

You ease the pain when I am hurting,

and morbid visions from my past

pierce into the realm of Reason

as though I danced on blades of glass.

You grant me strength when I have fallen

and, once again, I've lost my way.

You take my hand in Yours and lead me

into the promise of a brand new day.

You bring order to all my chaos,

yet set my well-laid plans awry.

You place me on a firm foundation ---

then give me wings so I can fly.

You sand away my roughened edges

and polish all the dullest parts

until I stand before Your presence...

a newly-sculpted work of art.

You see into the heart within me,

right through my motives and selfish will.

And yet, in spite of all You see

You say You love me even still.

Do we need to alert the leaders concerning what our SNs are?

(BTW, there is a chance that I won't be able to attend tonight due to a death in one of the families that attends our church. I'll be babysitting for children of the family, but I think I might be back in time. Just thought I'd give you the heads up so you didn't think I was abandoning the study.)

I'm sorry to hear about the death in one of your church family. However, no worries because we don't start until NEXT Friday evening, June 10th at 8:30 CST. It's only an introductory session. ^_____^

I would really like to get involved with this, but June 10th is my high school graduation, so I probably won't be online all night.

Could I PM one of you with my AIM name and join on the next session if that is possible?

Devoted Friend, first off hi and welcome to CAA. This is the first time I've seen you here; and, I love your avatar. ^__^

Anyway, if you'd like to join the Bible study you don't necessarily need to take part in every chat, which is only discussion, but you will need the workbook, "Living Beyond Yourself," by Beth Moore.

This is a study that you do on your own at your own leisure and we then meet at the end of each week to discuss what we've learned during our time with God for that particular week's study. The chat is a good time of fellowship and question and answers with Ash and me.

Please pm me or Ash if you need this elaborated and are truly interested and I'll help you out further if you do want to join. Thanks. ^___^
