Dreams (poem)

Postby Shadowchild » Sat Jul 09, 2005 8:49 pm

Sleep young warrior of light and strength.
Dream away all of your troubles.
Do not fear to awaken for I will guard you.
I am your guardian, your dark angel.
Only in your dreams may you see me.
I am always there.
I will never leave your side.
I will follow you through war and storm.
Through sickness and pain.
Even as your spirit fades and acsends I will guide you to your eternal place of rest.
I will stay with you whether it may be heaven or hell.
Light or dark.
Dreams are all I truly know of you and you of me.
Our hearts are as one.
Our thoughts as one.
The very pain that you feel is the same of that in me.
Do not fear my young warrior.
Let your thoughts and troubles be washed away in your dreams.

Broken Soldier (poem)

Postby Shadowchild » Sat Jul 09, 2005 8:51 pm

I close my eyes as I rest apon a tree in a frozen forest. My body aches for I have just risen from war. All day I have seen thousands die and teir blood is on my hands. I try to force at least one tear to fall but none come. I close my eyes and try to force away the faces of the dead. Their pale skin burning themselves into my eyes. I close my eyes and see you smiling. I am engulfed. Now we sit on a hill and watch the sun set on my last day. You have awaited for me in my everlasting home. And now you are here to take me with you. Your gentle hands wrap around my wounded body and hold tight. Gray wings pour out of your back and stretch. You hold me ever tighter as we lift off into the dark. I know that I may never return to the ground. I know that I may not like the place where I go, but I will go anywhere with you. I can feel the cool air rush by me as I ascend. An Angel and a broken soldier.

More like a vignette than a poem. Otherwise, good.

maybe you should consider making a poem thread since you have so many o.o;;

I like this one even if it seems more like a short short story (something less than 1000 words, often less than 500) than a poem.

I think that's really cool, Shadow! Only thing is, since it's a poem, you may want to put each sentence or part onto a new line... but then again you might be trying out something new.
I like the line: "I know each breath, each sound of each falling stone and tree". I can really see this being spoken aloud -even as I read it I could imagine someone speaking it.

Nice. You've really described a place of mystery and beauty. I also like the sense of the watcher/guardian in the narrator.

Very cool; you've incorporated a great sense of exhileration into this poem; and so far as I have seen from your other ones, you've got very good descriptive language skills -and your poems are really... *searches for word as mind goes on the blink, reminding Psoph that it's getting late and she should be sleeping. ^_^ * ...powerful. Not the exact word I'm looking for, but what I mean is that they have the ability to affect the readers -and not just in the average way; your writing really conveys feelings well. On that note, just want to say: make sure to be careful what you write; because it can affect people's emotions, just make sure you use it for good -and not for awesome, as they say. :) I say that lightly, yet I do think it's important.

You do write nice poetry. ^__^

However, I have to comment on something that I'm surprised has not been brought to your attention. You have 21 seperate threads here with one poem each. Everytime you post a new thread all the other writings get pushed to the bottom and many are now on the second page.

You need to make a "Shadowchild Poetry Thread" - obviously with a better title of your choosing - and post all your poems there. It will be bumped up everytime you post a new poem and then all the other writers here won't get bumped too horribly.

There are other writers here and this is only courtesy. I hope you don't mind.

If there is a mod around, could you help Shadowchild move all her poems into one thread possibly?

Thank you.

[size=84][color=seagreen]YOU SEE

You see into the deepest part of me ---

beyond the fog I hide behind.

You cast your light upon the shadows

that stretch like cobwebs in my mind.

You ease the pain when I am hurting,

and morbid visions from my past

pierce into the realm of Reason

as though I danced on blades of glass.

You grant me strength when I have fallen

and, once again, I've lost my way.

You take my hand in Yours and lead me

into the promise of a brand new day.

You bring order to all my chaos,

yet set my well-laid plans awry.

You place me on a firm foundation ---

then give me wings so I can fly.

You sand away my roughened edges

and polish all the dullest parts

until I stand before Your presence...

a newly-sculpted work of art.

You see into the heart within me,

right through my motives and selfish will.

And yet, in spite of all You see

You say You love me even still.

that was really moving i could picture it in my mind as i read. the parts that were my fav were- "The trees reach up to the heavens begging the angels to sing their heavenly song." and the part were u said "every star that peers through the treetops." they were both really poetic and moving and yet not depressing... instead they gave me more of a majestic feel:)

Yup! ^_^ Sometimes it just takes me a while to get to new threads. Good example -Olorc's Colouring Contest; I'm usually a couple of days late finding it in the Art Corner.

Very cool! I like your descriptions -the language you use is VERY good at potraying imagery and feeling, and it's great the way you vary your subject matter. It's good to finally have a thread with all your poems compiled into it!
I don't think I could comment on every single poem; so far I've only read a couple. But rest assured I'll enjoy browsing slowly through the rest of them (reading a couple at a time gives more room for each piece to sink in), even though I may or may not comment on the rest. Probably I will -but if I don't, you can be sure I'll still be reading through what you've written on the previous pages.

And thanks, UC, for putting in the time to compile all these poems!

I've been reading some more -your poems are extremely descriptive and thought provoking. I liked those angel descriptions on page 3, although I have to admit that, being a little sensitive, I find their descriptions a little disturbing, just because of the blood. ^_^" Yet I felt I could also emphasise with them, in a little way, with their brokenness.

<EDIT>Sorry, I realised that the word disturbing was too strong a world. What I was actually trying to say was that since I can sometimes get a little funny when it comes to blood, and also have a pretty visual mind at times, sometimes scenes with blood in them can make me slightly squeamish. ^_^"
