Well, You admins can't be on 24/7 right? and there will always be trolls right?
well then I have a suggestion, There are a few members here who are mature enough to handle the moderator positon, why not make a new group of moderators that only have the ability to Lock and edit posts? it would cut down on trolls and spam I think.

While I appreciate the consideration, we already have plenty of staffers. What happened this afternoon--i.e. a troll was on for more than few seconds--rarely, rarely happens. We don't need too many chefs, if you catch my drift. Besides, there is no guarantee they wouldn't be online when we staffers aren't.

haha don't feel bad Jman, I'm a moderator for a friends site, and an admin for my own and it isn't really as impressive as it seems to be. On this other site all the members looked up to the mods and were like in stunned silence whenever the admin spoke to them, but once I became a mod I didn't feel any different just more responsibility which can be a good and a bad thing.

Your idea wasn't useless, Jman, and it actually makes a lot of sense. As the forum grows, this may be something we have to consider in the future, but like Ashley mentioned, we currently have things pretty much covered. Also (just thinking aloud here) we have lots of members who are mature enough to handle a Jr Mod position and it would be very tough to actually choose a few.

So thank you very much for suggesting this. I had never thought of it before. ^^

But if they only had the ability to lock or edit/move posts, if there are no Sr Moderators on, they would still be able to spam to their hearts content due to the fact they can't be banned yet. And God help us should we have a wave of porn trolls. Should this idea ever be brought to fruition, Jr Mods should have the ability to ban as an added security precaution.

well in my idea, they would be able to delete the spams topics, and even now sometimes mods or admins aren't on when spams and trolls come on, and like I said, only the veterans and the maturest of the mature would get the power.

Exactly. Of course, prayer would have to go into each choice as well. And when someone's been here long enough, you can usually get the gist of their personality and maturity anyways.

That is correct, Jman. The idea isn't necessarily never going to be considered, but for the moment the discussion serves no true purpose. Unless someone has something truly revolutionary to say, this topic should probably rest.
