Manga for $4.99!

Postby Shao Feng-Li » Sun Jul 31, 2005 12:50 pm

The F.Y.E (For You Entertainment) At the mall here has manga for 4.99 a pop. A.D Visiuon and Tokyopop titles alike. I don't know if it's everywhere and the tiltes may be liimited but it's worth a look. I found King of Hell, Maramlade Boy, Love Hina and Full Metal Panic. Not all the vomlumes were there... But I bought myself Marmalade Boy. THere were others, but I don't remember... Wish and Chobits too.

A nightingale in a golden cage
That's me locked inside reality's maze
Come someone make my heavy heart light
Come undone, bring me back to life
It all starts with a lullaby

Is it part of a sale that's going on?
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

I guess that's like... 50% off in the states? Yeah it's fun to find the cheap anime/manga stuffage^^ like the 75% the price of the anime selection in my Walmart. Well, pick up some good stuff if you can I'll just say! I mean, you'll never know when to get an opportunity to get cheap stuff like that for a while!

*dies a painful death* I live in a city with like 4 malls and I don't remember any of them having this store. I'll have to search the outlet strips.. maybe there's one there T^T Lucky Lucky Lucky person...

Edit: Oh wait I lied without knowing it... there's three here, but they're all in the malls I never go too. And one's in a mall I've never heard of, but apparently its near Columbus <.<;;

Hmm... I've never seen manga in our F.Y.E. before, but I'll take a look next time I go to the mall.

Suncoast often has good deals on manga, too, like 1 free manga for every 2 you buy... you just gotta keep an eye out for these things. <_< >_>

my heart, let it be forever Yours, only You can make
every new day seem so new.

I found the Initial D 3-volume set for $4.97, actually at RadioShack. A while back RadioShack released an Initial D edition Zip Zap mini-RC car, and as part of the promotion started selling the manga as well. The manga sales were less than stellar so the set was devalued, but you can likely find a store in your area that still has them.

Speaking of cheap manga/anime, I was at a Border's Outlet store near Columbus, OH. Their line was thinner than I'd hoped. On the anime side, they had several DVDs of Hamtaro, Ranma 1/2, and (I think) Ceres: Celestial Legend, but that was about it. They were priced well, but for my liking, Hamtaro was too kiddy, Ranma seemed too nudey, and without knowing a little more about Ceres beforehand I was about afraid to try it.

I did find some inexpensive manga that looked interesting, though. I picked up 2 volumes of The First President of Japan for $1.99 each. I wasn't too familiar with the series, but being a bit of a political science junkie it looked interesting. Maybe I'll get to report back on that. ;)
