Very nice. I decided to read this seemingly daunting 22 page story last week, and have just now finished it. For someone unfamiliar to Naruto previoulsy, i got into the setting rather easily, (around chapter two, i think.) it has been quite enjoyable, and i look forward to reading the epilouge.

as for critiquing, the story itself is well written, with many interesting characters. one thing i noticed throughout the story was Sakura and Ino's obsesion with Sasuke seemed sometimes to be a little too obsessive compulsive, especially in the middle of the story.
as someone that has inexplicably consumed two of your stories on a obsesssive reading streak and enjoyed both, I'll look forward to the Zelda story whenever it is done.

I have finally had the chance to read the ending of Era and I must say that it was really great. I enjoyed it about as much as I enjoyed reading your Metroid Fanfic in fact, which means I loved it.

I found the torture that they put the Father through in the end to be quite unique, I don't think I've heard of such a thing before, and it was done quite well. Though I must say that it seems that Sasuke is rather ridiculously powerful, though that assumption probably comes from my not fully understanding the Naruto series in the first place.

If you get around to it, I will definitely read your Legend of Zelda fanfic, and basically anything else that you post here. It's been great reading this one, and I look forward to the next. Great job UC!

Thank you both. I am pleased to announce that though it required a serious rewrite the epilogue has been completed. Unfortunately, I don't have it with me today, nor do I have enough time to reformat it for CAA. I will attempt to post it tomorrow.

That will be years, if ever. It is rather epic.

And so, at long last, this all comes to an end...

-

Epilogue

The wind blew through Naruto’s blond hair as he moved down the street, sending it randomly tumbling about him. It was remarkably refreshing, actually. Things had been pretty weighty in recent times, before with the terrible burden of his job and most recently cleaning up in so many petty ways. He might not like it, but it had to be done.

Today, however, he didn’t expect to be too bad at all. In the evening there was one meeting of extreme importance, but there he would only be speaking with a select few, and it should not be tiresome. Prior to that, he anticipated a long time to relax and do nothing. Of course, this morning was going to be enjoyable as well. How long has it been?

At least his job was made easier in a few respects. Though the city was crammed full of shinobi from all over the world, it made security not even worth considering. Between the villages there existed such a great feeling of kinship that there was no danger of any fights between them, not that any of the villages had disputes in any case. Anyone else attacking would be either suicidal or insane, considering that every other person you passed on the crowded streets could destroy an army. Today was the last day, but he was going to enjoy it while it lasted.

Before any of that, though, he had a much simpler task: rounding up all the participants. Most of them had been pretty easy to find, though he’d dealt with a few grumpy ones this early in the morning. They’d deal with it, though. He was almost to the end of his list, leaving only Sasuke and Hinata. Neji had told him Hinata was gone, so Naruto figured he might as well try for Sasuke. Chances were he was in his house if he was anywhere at all.

For a moment the Hokage paused on the street, just glancing up at the Uchiha house. It was still a large building, and somehow seemed sad. The damage done to it had been repaired, but the spirit of the home was gone. He had never seen it before the slaughter, but he always felt just a bit wistful around the place.

Most of the time it was empty, Naruto pondered, walking up to the door. Sasuke was the sole inhabitant, and he was almost always on a mission. That was probably part of why the place felt so desolate. Not that I really care about that... Sasuke-kun is there, and that’s all that really matters.

The front door was locked, at least for a moment. After a bit of fiddling, Naruto entered soundlessly, figuring there was no sense in waiting for someone to answer if no one was home. From the few times he’d been here he knew that Sasuke would be in the master bedroom at the far end of the ground floor. He was probably awake, but it couldn’t hurt to check.

As he moved down the hall, Naruto became aware of Sasuke’s chakra, exactly where it should be. Perhaps he’d slept in, then. Reaching the door at the end of the hallway, Naruto rapped on it with the back of his hand.

a fitting ending. However, i'm just curious - does the world turn on the shinobi? they admitted to being feared by normal people. (or perhaps my inaquantience with Naruto is to blame)

Or perhaps this endng sets up a sequel?

They can't, really. The world's military is essentially the shinobi villages, and most other sources of power were exploited by the Father. Thus, if the shinobi wanted to take over everything, at this moment they could do so. However, as Naruto sees it they are moving away from that path: because the people of the world feared the shinobi, something like this could take place. In the future they will work to reduce such fear.

No, this is almost certainly my last Naruto fanfiction.

I had been vaguely hoping to see some of the characters from the first chapter, like Konohamaru and his friends, come back at the end, but the reunion did allow us to see the major characters again, at least, which helps create a feeling of resolution.

As a quick note, my initial impression was that the epilogue was taking place in the same city where the final battles were held; I didn’t realize until the Uchiha house was mentioned that the setting was in Konoha.

[quote="uc pseudonym"]Anyway, though, he ended his little rant with ‘Mortal fool!’ I wasn’t really expecting him to burst into monologue, so the only thing that occurred to me to say was ‘Immortal fool!’â€

Interesting. It is fairly easy to tell that I was focusing on all the shinobi in or near Naruto's class (hence Kakashi and Iruka did not appear), but I hadn't considered that anyone might want to see Konohamaru again.

I had in mind a different redemption for Ino; while it is less blunt I like it better. In the past she has focused on Sasuke to the point of marginalizing her relationships with other people, but at the end she has realized the divide that has grown between her and her former teammates. She did what she could logically have done long ago: moved on to healthier relationships.

Thank you especially for your extensive commentary on this story. I appreciated it and will find it useful both in my future writing and in revising this story for Fanfiction.net.

I hadn't noticed this, but it sounds reasonable.
